You are invited to rest and relax in “Ka Hale Lai” , Kailua’s House of Serenity, 5 minutes to the beach, and a short drive to the heart of Kailua town. This is a Legal, licensed vacation rental. You will feel like you are visiting old Hawaii in this classic home. Enjoy modern conveniences like AC in every room and new kitchen and bathrooms.

We are located in a quiet Kailua neighborhood called Kaimalino—a short walk away from Turtle Beach. We are walking distance from a grocery store and restaurants but away from the busier Kailua town. We are close to the H-3 on ramp which can get you to the airport in 25 minutes.

The State of Hawaii is welcoming visitors with negative COVID tests and allowing legal vacation rentals starting this week! We are so excited to welcome you back to Ka Hale Lai!!

We stayed with our 4 kids (6-12 years) & my parents. We appreciated the pool & hot tub, backyard with avocado & plumeria trees, space to spread out or gather. Nice neighborhood & location, away from the busy of Honolulu. Kitchen well-stocked. Host responsive when sheets didn’t fit correctly. Downsides - some beds/bedding could be updated. Pool very cold (kids braved it, but hard for adults) - though admittedly we were there in December. Overall, great stay. Lovely home.

We have been visiting Oahu since 1994 and have stayed at many houses. The pros: lovely and quiet neighborhood. Great kitchen-well stocked, individual AC in each room, beds were comfortable, pool, hot tub and yard (although the pool has no hand rail to help older people step in and out). 5 minute drive to great beaches and easy access to other areas of Oahu. The walkable beach (Turtle Beach) is rocky and covered at high tide so not really useable. Beach chairs and umbrella available. New master suite was great. Needs attention: BBQ was filthy and had not been cleaned for a bit. One of the queen bedrooms had a lot of noise from the outside (maybe AC) which made it very hard to sleep in. Small bathroom shower is almost unusable due to the shower head…perhaps look at changing. Kitchen table only has 4 chairs. With 4 rooms and occupancy of 8, there should be 8 chairs. There was only 1 hair dryer for all 3 bathrooms, at least that we could find. All and all, we had a very nice 11 night stay.

Great place for our group of 7 adults ranging 24 to 80 years of age. Very close to other services as well

House is as advertised, in a very nice residential neighborhood. Amenities were very close by. Chris and Sara were wonderful hosts, answered our questions promptly prior to booking and made themselves available if we had issues (we didn't). If I had to mention anything, the second shower in the house was a little small but we had two other bathrooms so not a deal breaker by any means. If I'm ever in Oahu I will definitely try to book this property again! Thanks Chris & Sara for your hospitality!

This place is amazing, but more importantly it was immaculate and well provisioned when we arrived. Everything you need for a long distance vacation holiday was already available, for both the pool and beach. Our hosts were helpful and gracious, and we look forward to another visit. Mahalo to Chris and Sara.

We truly enjoyed our visit this past week. Though our visit was a celebration of life and not the happiest of times it was wonderful to come together as a family. Chris and Sara's home is truly beautiful and peaceful. We had a delightful time. Chris made himself available to us via phone when we called regarding our not locating the broom. We feel terrible for leaving the floor dirty after 5 days but we never could locate the broom. There were a few ants in the kitchen and the Keurig, but we quickly solved the problem by placing all the food in the refrigerator and not using the Keurig and buying a can of spray which we left behind for the next guests.
