Unit was dusty like it hadn't been swept and furniture not dusted and wiped clean.We liked the location and the distance to the beach.
The apartment is located in a 3 story building which looks like a small hotel. It has a shared swimming pool, a shower to rinse after beach at the beach entrance, a barbeque area, a parking. The apartment is pretty spacious, well equipped and clean. The hosts communicated very well and quckly addressed an issue we had with the sink dranage.The location is really on the beautiful beach with turtles.
We enjoyed the location. Very close to the beach, little general store, aquarium and local restaurants.
50 steps s to ocean. 5 steps to ocean view. Lovely location. Well appointed condo . Home away from home ! Hosts were attentive but not in your face. Highly recommend

Excellent affordable, stay close to the beach and aquarium
The unit itself was fine. We slept there and made breakfast - that's all. It was fairly clean and updated. Plenty of new cabinets.
However...Unit's view is of parking lot where construction was happening. Pool was closed and not available. Toilets and sink had to be plunged numerous times in a 4 night stay. The black shower curtain liner grossed me out - it didn't show the mold and mildew but you knew it was there. White liners are cheap and replacing it every few months would be better than a black one.
When I rented the listing said Ocean Front in all caps. You cannot see the ocean from the unit. Other units ARE ocean front, this one is not.
Parking places were few and tiny requiring us to park on the street.
Furniture is typical condo tropical styles of years gone by.
Windows needed to be cleaned.
We tried to watch the two NFL playoff games on TV but they were not available on what the owner provided.
We did get a good last-minute deal at this property. If I had paid the full price per night plus taxes and cleaning fee and VRBO fee I would have been a very unhappy camper. Hono Kai is not my favorite resort in Maalaea and I am not likely to return here.
Overall very close to the beach and the water beach toys.
As a "Newly Remodel" properly few of the lights and electrical stockets didnt work. VRBO and Expedia communication on the rental of this unit was a total miss as we were overcharged! Won't rent using VRBO thru Expedia ever again.
Very close to the airport and to my sister's house in Kahului and a short drive to my brother's house in Lahaina.
Quiet little property on the ocean. Well equipped and close to numerous beaches and activities in Kihei.
Strong sewer smell outside the unit however did not notice inside. Location is convenient and worked fine for a few days. Unit was clean and comfortable however could not get bedroom TV to work. Pool area and beach areas are tiny however we were not there for beach or pool.
Really enjoyed our stay at the condo. We would definitely stay there again! Literally steps to the beach which was really private and so much of it. Thank you for the stay!
Great location with everything you need to enjoy a stay on Maui. Communication with property managers was great. We really enjoyed our stay.
It really was just steps from the best walking beach on Maui. The condo was clean and had everything we needed on our stay. The property had beautiful landscaping and we loved sitting on the patio.
The only negative (not anything to do with this unit) was parking spaces were so tight, it was an adventure getting in and out.
The property owners are awesome. The condo is in excellent conditions. The place is right next to a beautiful beach, the place is safe and very quiet. I would just recommend to have a car as there is only one place to buy groceries and they don’t have many options. Our experience was excellent and the welcoming package was very useful. We will come back for sure 🌺
