My family and I LOVED staying here! Malar and Sam were wonderful hosts--so thoughtful and courteous. The house and property were lovely, but what really made the difference was their sweet hospitality. We loved learning about their story as well--really inspirational. Thanks for making our stay great!

This was our first family vacation as a family of 4. We knew we wanted to stay in Hilo to be close to volcano national park/beach etc and away from the tourist crowds in Kona. It was really important to me that my urban babies get a chance to explore nature. It was everything I hoped for and more! Malar and her family were incredibly welcoming, we had a lovely tour of their farm! My girls got to feed their baby goats (huge hit) eat fresh eggs/honey/fruit from the farm. The screened in lanai was our favorite spot and we made beautiful memories just eating breakfast there and counting the lizards we spotted in the trees. Home was clean, and welcoming, the perfect size for us. The kitchen is well stocked so we could cook at home. We will definitely be back, thank you so much for hosting us!

We enjoyed our stay at this small family farm at the edge of Hilo where the city meets the tropical forest and farm. Malar & Sam and their family are working well with nature to successfully demonstrate their commitment to sustainable agriculture and a tropical island lifestyle. The accommodations and the hospitality were first class with a very modern kitchen fully equipped with a deluxe kitchen range, dishwasher, and a hi tech refrigerator-freezer complete with icemaker capable of producing crushed ice or cubes. The house had two bedrooms (one queen and two twin beds) a front porch and an enclosed screened lanai in the back that puts you right in nature where you will be amazed at the singing of the coqui tree frogs and the birds. There is plenty of dining and sitting space for a family of four either in the kitchen or in the lanai. We were very comfortable here and enjoyed the educational tour provided by Malar of her family farming operation. We would definitely come back and stay again if we are able to get back to Hilo in the future. If you like living in harmony with nature, this is a great place to stay. We also learned a lot about tropical food production. Mahalo!

Our family of 5 really enjoyed our stay with Malar and Sam. The property is great for kids and we had fun on the farm tour meeting and feeding the animals. The location is on the edge of town and is very quiet (coquí frogs not withstanding :-) ) But is still just 15 minutes or less from downtown Hilo, the airport, fantastic beaches (check out Onekahakaha Beach Park), and popular attractions like Kaumana Caves and Rainbow Falls.

We stayed the week while taking a course and were so pleased with how comfortable our stay was. All our needs were anticipated and more. Malar and Sam were very attentive, warm, friendly and courteous. Lots of space for 4 people on a beautiful, quiet unique permaculture inspired property. Easy access to everywhere we needed to go too. Cozy and spacious... well worth it!
