Welcome to Hale Malama Pono, a temporary home base for you to enjoy what Hawaii has to offer you as a visitor while treading as lightly as you can. Your hosts are long time visitors to the Island and now new owners. This home away from home is named for the values that they hope infuse it: preserving and protecting (the earth) with integrity. The Hawaiian words have layers of meaning, and the phrase is also commonly used to mean “Take care of yourself.”

Hale Malama Pono offers all the wonderful qualities of the Kona-Keauhou Surf and Racquet Club: warm tropical breezes, lush landscaping, a great pool and tennis courts, upgraded internet above and beyond the normal speed for the complex, cable TV from a brand new 50" LG TV installed in August 2019, convenient BBQs, and proximity to fascinating historical archeological sites. It sits on Ali’i Drive with a 7-mile ocean-front urban walking “trail” at the front gate, and is within walking distance to shopping, golfing, farmers’ markets, snorkeling, surfing and more. Beach equipment like boogie boards, ice chest, beach towels, beach chairs and beach mats are here for your use. Plus a couple yoga mats and tennis equipment.

As an end unit, all the rooms, including the bathrooms have natural light and ventilation. When additional light is needed at night, it will come from LEDs. When less warmth is desired, fans provide a cooling breeze. USB ports on the bedroom clocks make phones and tablets charging easy.

To honor the 'aina, the land which feeds us, the condo is stocked with earth-friendly personal care and cleaning products, enough to last your entire stay. The hosts don’t claim to be 100% chemical free, but aim to be as close as possible. A small closet is designated as a recycling area to support your efforts to avoid landfill. A growing inventory of re-usable alternatives like cloth napkins, re-usable shopping bags, and refillable water bottles are here for you use, In order to avoid single use products, and for those who cook in, there’s a full complement of spices, herbs and condiments, and helpful small appliances.

For a casual exposure to things Hawaiian, there’s a growing library of tour books, fiction and jigsaw puzzles. For delving deeper, there are books and booklets about Hawaiian history, flowers, birds, fish, petroglyphs and more.

The condo is furnished and organized to help you unpack quickly, make yourselves at home, and get right to ...

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The property was very clean and exceptionally well stocked. From linens to towels, kitchen utensils, water sports equipment, beach chairs, cooler and icepacks. My husband was able to use their snorkel gear to snorkel a 5 minute walk down the road. The favorite for all is the outdoor living area with a view that is truly amazing.

Nice, big condo, right on the ocean! Kitchen well stocked with everything to cook with. One negative is the spices in cupboards were old and had been exposed to the salty air with rusty lids. Lots of great beach gear in the condo like chairs, towels, snorkeling gear. It even had tennis rackets for the courts.

We stayed for one week over the 4th of July. The location of this property is great. There is a grocery store, movie theater and restaurants within a mile. Just a couple of miles down from the condo you’ll find great shopping, restaurants and tourist activities. The condo complex has swimming, tennis, ping pong and pickle ball. It’s right on the coast so the views are amazing! The condo itself has everything you need to have a wonderful week in the big island. Plenty of space with two bedrooms. Plenty of storage for your stuff. Basic toiletries. Even some condiments and food items. The view from the porch is absolutely gorgeous! The location super convenient. I can’t think of a reason not to return!

Our stay was really lovely, nice quiet spot with noise restrictions after 9pm. Pool was great, not crowded and very clean. Beds were comfortable. Only thing I can fault at all was the front bedroom becomes very hot with no A/C in unit and it does not have block out blinds, the sun also comes into that bedroom early in the morning too. Other than that the unit had everything we wanted, was stocked really well with everything we could need like pool toys, beach gear, ping pong set, board games. Unit has a brand new oven/ cooker which we used to make dinner a couple of times. Hope to come back in the future! Thanks for the great stay!
