The house is beautiful, the grounds impeccably landscaped and cared for, and the beach is quiet and lovely. It was a peaceful week with early morning swims in the ocean and exploring the many beautiful beaches and hikes on this side of the Island. We had a monk seal hanging out for a full day on the beach and saw tons of dolphins from the porch. The house has everything one could need in terms of cooking supplies, towels, etc. We hope to come again to visit our daughter, who is teaching at the local high school, and we will definitely stay here to avoid the traffic and massive crowds in Honolulu. Absolutely recommend this place if you are up for a quieter Hawaii visit.

This home is a pleasant get away from the hustle and bustle of the more populated areas of O’ahu. The views are amazing and the property is better than advertised. We were more than satisfied with the house and beach. The owner made himself available whenever we needed something, but did not intrude on our family time. I’d also like to respond to a recent guest that left a poor review citing some questionable areas and homeless people in the parks surrounding this home. We found that this was the case almost everywhere on the island, not just in Wai’anae. We frequently saw run down homes and people living in tents, but one block away there would be beautiful homes and fabulous beaches. Even in the ritzy parts of the island, homelessness is apparent. Visitors merely need to accept this as part of the environment. We never felt unsafe while staying at this home and would stay again in a heartbeat.

The house had everything you can ask for. The yard is beautiful and the view is breathtaking. Definitely worth being a little of the grid. Tony was a great host and always available if needed!!!

First of all this area of Oahu is very run down. Lots of homeless camps and sketchy. Not really any shopping or dining. There are a couple very pretty beaches but even they can be sketch. This house was so dark inside We couldn’t see to read our books, that’s with the lights on. The counters and appliances were greasy. Closets and cupboards a mess. There are RAT (not mouse) traps under the beds and couches and balancing on walls and on closet shelves. The picture and description of house show the sand meeting the yard. Like you’ll be able to watch the waves or your kids on beach. You can not. There is a very tall row of bushes between house and beach. Yes you can walk thru a little path and get out there but if u think you’ll sit on the lanai and watch the beach, you won’t. The owner was arrogant. My rental car couldn’t drive down the driveway. He said that’s very clear in the listing. That you must have a very high clearance vehicle. Well the first I saw of that was on his welcome email with check in details that came an hour before check in. So I spent my first whole day in Hawaii driving Back to Honolulu to switch and upgrade my car, which still barely cleared it. This was after having to park the car outside the fenced yard in a “bad” area overnight that he wouldn’t recommend. The oven smelled horrible of gas and on broil shot literal flames when u opened door. When I texted him about it he said ya their waiting on a part just use the grill. The grill downstairs away from everything was discussing with a crusted fish skin across the whole upper shelf. We loaded all the dishes in the dishwasher when we got there because they were filthy. Turns out it runs a full cycle but must be with cold dirty water cuz they were all still dirty. We had to hand wash everything. I’d definitely recommend the North shore.

The Bamboo compound was everything I had imagined it would be and more!!! Our family enjoyed the Hawaiian atmosphere that it provided! If ever we make it back to Oahu we will stay here again.

House was nice and met our family needs. Creative A- frame construction w rooms having no ceilings. It is part of compound w owner and another renter on property. Nothing beats falling asleep and waking up to crashing waves....and w easy access to beach and tide pools and lawn for family play all added to our enjoyment.
