    Please read this before you book. The following is in reference to the Lahaina fires and 2024 Winter/Spring painting of the exterior of the Konea Building.

    Please understand that if you come and stay with me that you will not be taking a room from a displaced family or that you will be taking resources from victims of the fire. Right after the fire, me and the owners I represent placed victims of the fire in our units free of charge. No questions. It gave them a safe place to think and they knew they would need to find a longer term solution. Most have done that. A couple still need some more time and they will have that. I will not kick them out for a paying guest, so if the unit shows available then it’s available because the family in it found a longer term solution.

    What to expect:

    Keep in mind everything north and south of Lahaina is intact. That said 85% of Lahaina Town is gone. So when you drive in via the Lahaina Bypass you will see some damage. Once you come down and get back on Honoapiilani Highway and go past Safeway (which is open now) you will see what you have seen on TV. It’s bad, but there’s nothing you can do but support those people now.

    Depending on when you are coming there may still be displaced families at Honua Kai as the Resort really stepped up more than anyone else in offering temporary housing. The ones that work will be understanding and grateful, and this does not need to be said but we all just need to be respectful of one another.

    We hear all the time how much people love Maui, how they leave a little bit of their heart in Maui when the leave, and how Maui allows their family to connect or re-connect. The truth of the matter is that Maui needs you now more than ever to come and support its people, its shops and its restaurants. That said I understand and respect that some people may see it differently, so everyone needs to make their own choice.

    PAINTING

    The HOA is going ahead with the exterior painting of the Konea Building. The painting has already began on the outer units (not the interior courtyard which is where your unit is located). They are painting the exterior of the building and not the interiors.

    Konea 403, 503, and 703 April/May 2024


    If they are actively painting your lanai you will not have access to your lanai from 8 am to 4pm Monday thru Friday. ...

    Let me start by saying that we just stayed a week at this unit and this was our third VRBO stop across different Hawaiian islands. I’ll start with what we like about the stay - we liked the square footage of the unit as there was plenty of room for our family of 4. We liked the sunset views (visible from outside on the balcony). It was nice to have in suite washer/drier and appliances. What did we love about it - not much.. it was simply “ok”. The building is understaffed so features like valet are very inadequate and inefficient which is even further complicated by the serious lack of parking. The general property is in need of investment, maintenance, and renovation as most finishes are by my guess 20+ years old. The main elevators that service the traffic from the pool/beach back to the rooms are inadequate and you will likely find yourself waiting for long periods to catch a ride. On most days we were unable to find any place at the pool until late in the afternoon once the crowds cleared. Overall, this unit is nice, roomy, as advertised, and the manager was very easy to work with - the property/complex overall though was a bit underwhelming and seems to have not been designed for the amount of people that are moving through the premise.

    My family and I just returned from one of our best vacations ever thanks to Joe and his magnificent condo. The location and amenities were sheer perfection….the view, breathtaking. The place was spotless and check-in and check-out was easy went smoothly. I can’t recommend this place enough and hope to return!

    This was our second visit to Honua Kai. It has to be the most family friendly resort on Kaanapali. This unit is fantastic. Great views of the ocean! Watched the whales right from the balcony. Would definitely stay here again!

    This is my favorite VRBO rental of all time. The condo is incredibly comfortable and well stocked and was the perfect place for our family of 4 to enjoy a week in Maui. I was really impressed with how quiet and private the condo felt, despite being part of a large complex. The bedrooms are large and spacious and each have their own bathroom. The living space and kitchen were very large and comfortable also- and we really appreciated the washer and dryer in the unit. The lanai was lovely and you cannot beat the view. We also really enjoyed all the amenities at Honua Kai- the pools, hot tubs, exercise room, Duke’s restaurant were all great. Also loved being able to walk out the door and take a walk on the beach or boardwalk. You can even snorkel in the water at the point and see lots of fish and coral! On site parking was also great- and even when the parking deck was full at night we were able to find street parking not too far away. I would highly recommend this rental to anyone looking for a comfortable place to stay in Maui. We loved our time there.

Enjoyed sitting on the lanai and watching the whales breach early morning. Joe the owner/management of the property was awesome to work with.

    This place was exactly as described. The unit was clean the amenities were as described. The sunsets beautiful and relaxing in the pool were perfectly the type of relaxation needed. The restaurants were within a short distance or even right on site.
