Property Description

A Whale Crossing Vacation Rental is tucked away in the serene North Kohala region, near Upolu Point on the northwest tip of the Big Island. This charming, secluded getaway offers a peaceful and intimate setting, perfect for those looking to experience the natural beauty of Hawaii.

The cozy Tiki Hut is a romantic escape for two, featuring a king-sized bed, settee, cable TV, Wi-Fi, and a CD/radio player. The fully-equipped kitchenette includes a double sink, two-burner stove with oven, full-size refrigerator, microwave, toaster, blender, coffee maker, and all the pots, pans, and dishes you’ll need to feel at home. Enjoy meals on the deck, relax in the yard with lounge chairs, or fire up the BBQ for a casual dinner.

The Tiki Hut offers stunning sunsets and the occasional mystical moonbow. From your private lanai, you’ll also have the incredible opportunity to witness humpback whales jumping and singing during the winter months (November - April). The bathhouse features an old-fashioned clawfoot tub and a tropical garden shower provides a unique and refreshing way to enjoy the outdoors.

Hiking trails abound, and the property is just a short walk to both the ocean and historical sites, including King Kamehameha's birthplace and the ancient Mo'okini Heiau.

While secluded, Awhalecrossing Cabin is conveniently located just 1 mile off Akoni Pule Highway. The charming towns of Hawi and Kapaau are only minutes away, where you'll find dining, galleries, and unique shopping experiences. The world-renowned beaches and resorts of the Gold Coast, including Hapuna and Mauna Kea—regularly ranked among the top 10 beaches in the world—are just a 20-minute drive away. Kona International Airport is 50 minutes by car.

Our "Special Rustic Hawaiian Experience" has been a beloved part of our family for nearly 45 years. With the company of our 2 Golden Retrievers and 2 Golden Doodles, we invite you to experience the magic of our island paradise.

Whether you're looking for adventure or simply a place to relax and reconnect with nature, A Whale Crossing Tiki Hut offers a truly special Hawaiian experience.
