Pristine grounds, site events were welcoming to guests and much appreciated. Unit could use some wear and tear updates but perfectly comfortable and its first floor walk out access to grounds and view were great. Would definitely select Whaler's condos again
We loved this rental! The win for us was LOCATION. Easy access to Whaler's Village, snorkeling at Black Rock, the beach, walking to meals & Hula Pie, and the first floor unit made it so easy to get around. No elevators!If you read some of the other reviews, could the unit use a little updating? Perhaps. But did we mention the great location? Owners were very responsive. Beach chairs & umbrellas come with the unit plus a working ice-maker (rare these days). The one thing we overlooked is that there was not a washer/dryer in the room but the laundry down the hall was easy to use.

Very nice unit ,decor is really nice ,very clean and open unit ,location is middle of Kaanapali and unit is ground floor and has all the amenities we needed ,walk to Whaler village lots of shops ,food and ABC store really nice unit and staff of Whaler are great very nice folks and the grounds are gorgeous, easy parking for rental car ,very close to beach
Cons:
You better learn the rules of the whaler there is a group of people who either live there or are long time/term residents of the "Older" generation and they are not nice and after over hearing multiple conversation with these folks they "hate" short term rental folks like ourselves it made it very uncomfortable and these folks were not friendly or nice
That said we learned to avoid them i will say there is a very diffrent vibe in Maui especially in the Kaanapali area as there is a huge push to eliminate short term rentals like this unit its an unfortunate situation and Maui and the people of Maui either want tourists or they dont
We loved this unit and the whaler but given the exsiting tenants in building 2 we would not stay here again as we are on vacation I need mom and dad watching my every move and we are in our mid 50s and are the quietest people we don't drink or smoke and honestly could not figure these folks prob was not just us but others talked about this as well these tenants are really sad people and are angry and rude .
This home was perfect for our stay when traveling with two teenage boys. The ground floor unit was so convenient to come in and out. I thought we would be sacrificing a view by not being on the upper floors but that was not the case. We sat out on the lanai for coffee in the morning and every meal. The unit is the second unit from the front so you are really just steps from the beach. The kids were able to walk to black rock and whalers village everyday.
The unit had everything we needed. The kitchen was well equipped and there were plenty of spices for cooking. We were alotted 1 roll of paper towells which didnt last us our entire stay so you might want to add that to your shopping list.
I will agree with previous posters about the cockroaches. We did see one or two each morning, but it was NOT due to a cleanliness issue. It is a ground unit condo in a tropical island, there will be bugs. If your lucky, you might get a gecko friend in your unit and they help with bugs. They are good luck and are welcomed in Hawaiian homes so don't try to mess with them. You'll know they are there when you hear little chirps that sound like bird chirps.
There wasnt snorkel equipment this time like other reviews have said. But there are chairs, umbrellas, and a skim board. There is a kiosk by the pool that rents chairs, umbrellas, boogie boards, and snorkel equipment. We rented snorkel equipment from them and I wish I would have rented elsewhere to save some money.
You will love it here.
The unit was nice and clean and comfortable
We booked this unit for our family of 3, including our 11-month old baby specifically for its location as it was on the ground floor. Upon arriving in the evening, the unit appeared very clean however we noticed several cockroaches in the kitchen. The next day, we noticed more and more cockroaches throughout the day - on the counters, in the fridge, in the dishwasher, in the sink, and in the cupboards. We messaged the property manager right away, and she was very responsive however it took 2 days for pest control to come in. Over those 2 days, the cockroaches were all over the kitchen and even in the living room and bedroom. We were uncomfortable with the chemicals being sprayed around our baby but we had no other choice. Unfortunately the pest control treatment did not get rid of the cockroaches and we had to spend the next 6 days of our vacation avoiding the kitchen completely. We had planned to make all our meals in the condo but we’re unable to due to the infestation. Upon checking out, I told the property manager that there were still cockroaches in the unit and she informed me that they found a hole under the kitchen sink (!) likely where they were entering from. The owner refused to acknowledge or offer any sort of compensation for this massive inconvenience. It is unfortunate as the unit, although somewhat dated, would have been the perfect spot for our dream vacation. Save yourself the headache, hassle and anxiety, and book elsewhere!!
We absolutely love being able to walk through the patio doors onto the lanai and directly into the pool or ocean. Combine this convenience with a really spacious and comfortable one bedroom condo and you’ve got a recipe for vacation success
Admitted the condominium is a little dated, but the furniture is very comfortable, has good style that matches and just does the job in a very comfortable way. Well appointed kitchen with all critical appliances and utensils. A fantastic king size bed that made it hard to leave the apartment sometimes. If you’re a stickler for having everything brand new, and in resort condition , then you might wanna look twice but if you’re all about comfort convenience and a perfect location, then don’t look any further.
The closet was well stocked with a boogie board, chairs, umbrella, and some snorkeling masks. There was suntan lotion, still in the closet. Lots of herbs, oils, and condiments in the cupboard… All this added up to a very easy week on Kaanapali beach!
This property was clean, convenient, and memorable for its proximity to the beach, drinking coffee on the lanai and watching whales jump in the ocean. We also loved being able to walk to great snorkeling at Black Rock.
Perfect setting, great condo, wonderful host. A few minor stuff but thats with any place. Loved our vaca.
My husband and I loved this condo. It's so convenient with the ground floor level and had everything we could need. We so enjoyed our stay and would rent this condo again with no problem. Thank you so much.
