Fantastic location, fantastic view, clean with well stocked kitchen. We would come back in a heartbeat.
The property was very clean and well stocked. The beds were very comfortable and clean. The view is out of this world. Watching the sunset over the ocean was magical. The kitchen had everything needed to include nice cookware and seasonings. Laundry detergent and other essentials were plentiful, ie sunscreen, beach toys and towels. It’s a few minutes to magic sands beach (highly recommend) and lots of really great food options. The air conditioner was a great amenity. The front room stays warm so definitely use the fans.
This condo at Kona Bali Kai was perfectly located for everything we wanted to do in the Kona area. The owner sent a comprehensive "Activities" list of suggestions that was really helpful, too. I felt as though we really experienced the Kona side of the Big Island in our short, one week stay. There was ample parking (which can be rare in Hawai'i!) so that was a big plus. Also, the master bedroom screen door can be left open at night and sleeping to the sound of the waves was heavenly. Another big plus was the small surf break called "Banyans" right out front. Our son was out surfing at 7 am and we could watch him from our balcony while eating breakfast. That was so fun!Kona Bali Kai had a "homey" feel to it. It was not like staying in a hotel or resort. The people next door felt more like neighbors! Also, the master bathroom felt luxurious with its tall ceiling and waterfall-type shower head.Overall, I would give this condo a great big 5 out of 5!
We spent most of our time outdoors, but the unit provided all we needed. The beds are comfortable and the view from the lanai is exceptional.
The condo was very well equipped and greatly appreciated the washer/dryer. The view was fantastic! Location was very convenient to beaches and town. The Welcome book with condo information was very detailed and provided a lot of explanation that my daughter liked. Would stay here again. It was awesome.
My family of 5 really enjoyed our stay. The condo was very clean, was centrally located for activities on the Kona side of the island, and parking was quite easy. We enjoyed the various adventures we went on just through our own exploration. Mike’s condo information book is a great start and then the guidebooks available in the condo were also helpful. The market across from the condo was well stocked and the people there very friendly. As for the condo itself, the beds were very comfortable with clean linens, the A/C worked great (mainly only used at night to keep it cool for sleeping), and the balcony set up and view was beautiful. When we arrived, there were only 3 sets of towels instead of the 5 sets we needed. We contacted Mike, and he got it taken care of very quickly. The condo itself had so many things in it—beach towels, snorkel gear, boogie boards, umbrellas, ice chests, beach chairs, etc. Also, had all the necessary kitchen items, including spices, coffee, sugar, etc. Also, in the closet across from the washer/dryer unit, there was some left over mineral sunscreen, which is the preferred sunscreen for the islands to protect the coral reefs. We utilized the washer/dryer and dishwashing machines, which all worked well. The pool and hot tub were nice and clean. Lastly, we do recommend trying out Da Poke Shack on the property, because it was delicious. We had a really great stay and highly recommend!
We are frequent visitors of the islands and this was one of our favorite stays. Well stocked with basic needs, very clean, and the VIEW! 10/10. We had no issues and instructions were very clear and easy understand. Look forward to coming back and staying!

It was a lovely stay. The addition of ac was nice. I missed the parking pass attachment before we left, but we got it figured out…but be sure to print your parking pass ahead of time. The location was fairly central for exploring that side of the island.
Mike was very responsive and helpful. Overall great stay! Our family had a great time.
This property was everything we wanted and much more! Our family of 5 loved this condo. The highlight was definitely the view and falling asleep to the waves at night. Absolutely wonderful. From the porch we spotted whales and saw a sea turtle in the tide pools. We were pleasantly surprised to find coolers, chairs, an umbrella, boogie boards, snorkel gear, beach bags. All of these things made our beach days perfect! They also had sunscreen and bug spray available. I highly recommend staying here!?
This was the perfect spot for our first trip to the big island. We wanted to be oceanfront and the lanai of this property made it hard to tear ourselves away from the waves and surfers. Easy access to downtown Kailua-Kona, the great snorkeling spots down south (Captain Cook and 2-Step) and a reasonable drive (45 min) to the best sand beaches up north. Nicely updated and fully furnished unit, including AC (though we never needed it). The owner was easy to contact and very responsive. Highly recommend this condo.
Goodness. What a lovely stay we had. Would stay again. Everything we could possibly need was there. Picked up groceries. Did some meals there. Played board games at the table. Went to sleep with the sound of the waves. Da Poke Shack is on property and offered a great local lunch option and better pork than what we had at the luau. Plenty of parking spaces and ease of getting to other tourist attractions.
Great views! Nothing between the condo and ocean but a little grass. We saw whales, dolphins, monk seal, turtles, eels plus able to watch surfers all from the unit. One reason we choose the unit was the AC however we never turned it on. Leaving the screens open and having the ceiling fans provided all the cooling we needed. Unit is well stocked if you stay a week, staying longer may require you buy consumables. Street noise can be a problem for those staying in the front bedroom which is a bit small for two adults. Unit was clean but floors could have used a little more cleaning. This unit will be on our list for future visits.

The property was very clean, in a good location close to Kona-Kailua, and had an amazing view. A very comfortable overall stay for 6 days. The bed was very comfortable and the waves right outside the slider lulled us to sleep each night. We would definitely recommend this property again for anyone who's looking for several nights in Kona, but doesn't want to pay the exorbitant cost for a resort. The immediate area is generally quiet and located close to several public beaches. There are other really nice beaches within easy driving distance. We had a great time here and would definitely recommend again. The owner gave great instructions from appliance workings to places to see, & places to eat. Definitely a great place to stay for 2 or 4 people looking for a restful retreat on the big island.
Lovely place to stay while on vacation in Kona with the sound of the ocean waves and sunsets to share with loved ones. Mahalo to Mike and Nicklyn.
We love having the space and ability to cook, so hotel is not our choice. The condo was spacious with large patio with GREAT view. We watched the surfers, sunsets almost everyday. We ended but not cooking dinner, just breakfast on the lanai. Great location to explore that side of the island. Close to everything. Mike was great with info and communication. Check in process was easy.Few things need improvement: inside the drawers needs cleaning, bathroom needs new shower head. And extra bath mat will be nice, since it gets wet and if we forget to hang outside, it smells. Pool is ok - nice option for a late night swim.
This apartment has amazing ocean view! We had all our meals at the balcony to enjoy the view. The apartment is clean with all the appliances we needed for the stay. Enough parking spaces with cover. With elevator, easy to move our luggages. Definitely will come back if I visit big island again!
Can’t say enough good about our stay
We stayed for 8 nights and the property was beautiful. The condo had a great floorplan with the primary bedroom open to the ocean and a second bedroom/bathroom conveniently off the kitchen. The kitchen was very well equipped with appliances and spices, even some lovely unopened leftovers in the fridge when we arrived. Instructions from Mike prior to our visit were very helpful, and he was very responsive when we contacted him about a minor issue. The property is gorgeous, right on the ocean, and we could even watch green sea turtles from our lanai feeding in the tide pools just yards away. I highly recommend this condo for a stay in Kona!!!
We arrived in the evening after a 13 hr flight, so we dropped straight to sleep in the very comfortable beds. Opened our eyes the next morning and all my husband and I could say was Wow..! The view is amazing - ocean as far as the eyes can see, waves crashing on the rocks, a sound that I never tire of hearing. Got the teens out of bed and made them go check out the view - it did not disappoint!
We took a look around the condo and it was exaclty as described. Cozy, open, renovated areas (ie bathrooms and i believe the kitchen) and very well stocked. So well, we found Kona beers in the fridge! No guarantees you'll be that lucky, but it was nice to know that we could go grocery shopping and not worry that excess would go to waste. Storage in the balcony included boogey boards, water shoes, coolers and other essentials. Our teens have outgrown their full face snorkling masks so we 'donated' them, happy that they will be put to good use by future guests.
The unit has AC, which we turned on at night, only because i'm a hot sleeper. Otherwise, we kept the unit wide open to enjoy the breeze and listen to the waves. Admittedly some afternoons got warm but the many fans throughout helped. Full sized washer/dryer came in super handy.
The owner was very communicative - lots of helpful info! - and I'm sure would have been there if needed, though we had no issues. I could go on but suffice it to say, it was a lovely stay - definitely recommend!
Wonderful condo rental for a family. Lovely breeze from the deck, appreciated having coolers available, loved watching the waves from just feet away day and night. Owner was easy to work with, highly recommend.
No surprises here, everything was exactly as advertised. The view and location are great. There was a turtle in the tide pool area just below the balcony and several eels as well. Great property!
Loved the view and relaxing on the deck. Fun to watch the surfers, see turtles, and awesome sunsets. The house had everything our family needed and was so comfortable. The pool was great after a long day out and you have the best poke place around right on property, Da Poke Shack.

We live on the island and have stayed at numerous condos in different areas for decades. Most Alii Drive condos have cheap furniture and appliances , so this was a nice surprise in the tasteful and high end high quality furnishings the view and location are great. The unit was very clean and everything worked great. The downsides have nothing to do with the owner:unit.
The condo owner was responsive and polite. The photos and descriptions were accurate. The condo layout is a little strange and there is little privacy. The pool is super small. I would not choose this condo (or the complex generally) for anyone other than a couple or maybe a couple with s single child as it is so cramped.
A downstairs neighbor came up to rudely complain to us about furniture dragging at all hours which was actually happening at a unit above us. The pool was often unusable due to many children taking it over and splashing and bullying others.
The on-property management/security were rude and hostile but also didn’t seem to actually enforce any rules.
Wow! We couldn’t be any closer to the ocean. Great views from a great lanai.
Mike’s place had everything. It was one of the best equipped condos we’ve stayed in. We will definitely return.
Everything we hoped for, great location in south Kona.
