This was a great condo. It had great access to the beach and the condo itself was well maintained. We stayed on three different islands during our trip and this was our best accommodation. There was always enough parking. It wasn't too loud but the bedroom window is right next to the elevator so you could hear other guests. It wasn't that disruptive and didn't change our minds about how nice the condo was. The shower was nice.
What an amazing place to stay! With the ocean steps away from our patio, we saw turtles and whales spouting from far away. The sunsets were absolutely fantastic - so many pictures. The condo was perfect with all it's amenities making it feel like home. Waking up each morning and making coffee and sitting outside with the view was the highlight of the trip :)

An older property that has been updated. The open windows allow you to listen to the waves at night. Close to everything.
We wanted a place right on the ocean so we could hear it and see it. This oceanfront did NOT disappoint. Nope, no beach, but it's winter in Maui and this time of year the ocean is strong and takes the sand with it. It didn't matter that there wasn't a beach here, we were still able to travel just down the road and there was beach for us to layout on and play in the water at. The condo gives way to an amazing view of two other islands and we saw many humpback whales (bring binoculars) and sea turtles from the lanai. Everyone was compliant with the quiet hours, so no noise complaints. The condo is located close to shopping, dining and the beach. Great sunsets. Matt was prompt in responding to any questions I had. Would highly recommend and stay here again.
The property was nice, and affordable for the location and time of year we stayed. The kitchen is very well outfitted and having laundry in the unit is great. There is no air conditioning but that's not a big deal, just opening the windows and patio door lets the ocean breeze in and everythings good. This is a first floor unit and the ocean waves are thirty feet from the patio, the constant sound of the ocean might not be for everyone but I loved it
We loved staying at Matt's place. It has amazing views. We saw whales and turtles swimming by. The neighbors are amazing. Matt is a great host and was always in touch throughout our stay. Would def. recommend his place. As other reviews mention, it might be little noisy if you are a light sleeper, but closing down all the windows reduces the outside noise a lot and would not bother you!
We loved this vacation spot. From coffee on the lanai each morning, margaritas in the afternoon, turtles by the sea wall, and a short walk to “the best cinnamon buns on Maui”, we had a great time. The condo was in a perfect location as we didn’t drive. A 20 minute walk got us to restaurants, grocery stores, and souvenir shopping. The condo had everything we needed.
This was our 3rd stay and we have already booked our 4th. This place is perfect in every way!!

The checking in process went smoothly. We arrived to Hawaiian music and an amazing view of the ocean from this ground level unit. We immediately felt relaxation.
The location makes you feel like you are out of the hustle and bustle of the city, but also have access to grocery stores and food not too far away. Just down the street, we enjoyed Papa O'Hana's Cinnamon Rolls (get in line early!) and Dole Pineapple Whip at a local Mediterranean restaurant. There is also a large food truck park set up for local feast and fun. With that said, we enjoyed many a meals in and used the gas grills to grill steak at "home" and enjoyed eating dinner in the cool of the evening.
The condominium units are mixed use between short term rentals to seasonal owners. This was a plus as we felt welcomed by the "locals" and they taught us customs like the conch shell sunset ceremony. We felt like we belonged there, hence "home away from home." In fact, we ended up adding 2 more days to our stay because we just weren't ready to go home!
Matt contacted us a couple days in to check to see how we were doing. They were easy to get a hold of if needed. He was very accommodating and kind.
Activities we enjoyed were the Road to Hana and Volcanic National Park (both about an hour drive to the start of the drives, we just planned for an all day event), to swimming in the ocean in front of the unit at low tide, even swimming with the sea turtles.
A must stay! We are hoping to go back again soon!
We had a wonderful stay. The location is perfect with an awesome view from the ocean and beautiful sunsets.
Simply fabulous location and met several owners who were very hospitable. Its an incredible location and we enjoyed being on the ground floor.

The condo at Makani Sands was perfect - and you cannot beat the location! Having an unobstructed ocean view was amazing. We loved eating our meals outside on the patio every day. Highly recommend!
Good place to stay. Located on the upper northwest part of the island.
