Being locals from Kaneohe, we were given the opportunity to play tourist for a few days. Because of the ideal location here in Hilo town, The Queens Loft made it easy for us to play that roll. Our major function on this trip was for a family reunion in Kurtistown, in other words, it was back to being locals. We were also here in January and wasn’t disappointed then and now. We look forward to our next visit here and will definitely recommend this place to our family and friends.

I wanted to stay downtown where I could walk to everything and there is no other place I could find in downtown Hilo so that made it nice and easy to get around on foot, almost everywhere I wanted to go. It’s a sweet place, very rustic, so if you’re looking for something modern this is not your place. The beds are comfortable but the bathroom is small, especially the doorway so a larger person might have trouble getting in and around in it. One of my disappointments was not being able to take a bath because I could not get the plug to work, but otherwise Michele pays attention to details. It was really nice to have bottled water, a coffee maker, fridge, microwave, hot plate and what I really loved was having a diffuser, so take your favorite oil! Check in was difficult for me because the lockbox was confusing so my main feedback is to know that when you go there the keypad is black & just above the door handle. If you get there in the dark, it can be very tricky to figure it out so you’ll need a flashlight and you start by typing in the numbers and listening for the sound of each one you touch. The wonderful thing is that they were immediately responsive both nights that I had issues. I had a hard time figuring it out, but once we realized it was programmed wrong, got that straight, and I learned how to use it correctly, it was all good! I enjoyed my stay, even with all of the downtown noise I experienced. I was warned by prior reviews and earplugs worked! Thank you!

This place is dirty - a lots of tiny ants are on the tables. It is loud during the night- cars, music and other noises. Air Conditioner is very loudas well. There is almost no windows, the kitchen is small and not well equipped. I won't recommend it to anyone.

Everything about this property was perfect! Location is great! If you don’t mind parking on the street (no problems whatsoever with us) this is the best place to stay for couples.

We stayed here one night, visiting from O'ahu to see Mauna Loa. We debated sleeping in the car but I'm so glad we rented this place to rest our heads and take a shower. It was clean and had two nice beds, plus a kitchen and an ample bathroom. Getting in and out of the apartment was made easy by keyless entry. Great shops and restaurants just steps away. Only complaint would be it can be a little noisy at night-not from bars or other businesses but from the houseless people living in the street, screaming at eachother all night. The host provided earplugs which was well prepared and a game changer. I would stay in this place again for a quick stay but probably not anything over 3 + nights.

This spot is all about the location. It’s clean enough, has a small kitchen and air conditioning. The real perks are how close it is to the farmers market and bay front restaurants. Be aware when arriving, all the doors were open and unlocked when I arrived, so no need to use my code entry. Then at 5am the manager, who lives on site I assume, was standing outside my locked glass door just staring in. Super weird but she said she was not informed by the owner that someone was staying that night… definitely a put off but not a big deal. Just lock your doors and close the curtains. If you are traveling with young children or are super sensitive, this unit may be hard to sleep in as it shares a wall with the axe bar and is incredibly loud on crowded nights. Though, we didn’t mind and felt it was worth it to be in the area.

If you like staying right downtown, you like quirky, unique places, and you aren't expecting a cookie cutter hotel, this place could be for you. The queen's loft is above a wonderful clothes shop, Rainbow Jo, also owned by the owner of this vrbo. We just happened to end up in Hilo on the weekend of the Merrie Monarch Festival, and the parade went right in front of the shop. It was wonderful. As for the details of the accomodations, everything was very clean, and Michelle pays great attention to detail. The kitchen was fully stocked. I couldn't think of anything that I needed or wanted that wasn't there. The place sleeps 4, but it would be pretty small for 2 couples unless you are very close. One caveat: this would be a hard place for a large person, and it has some stairs (maybe 10). The door to the bathroom is very narrow--I'm quite sure I have some relatives that would not have fit. I hate to say anything negative about the place because we really had a good time there, but I figure that I should say that since I don't think I saw a reviewer comment on that. So, Queen's Loft doesn't get 5 stars because it's the Ritz Carlton--it's not. It gets 5 stars because everything we needed and wanted was there, and we enjoyed being right in downtown Hilo. We noticed other reviewers commented on parking. Most of the downtown parking is 2 hours, 8 - 4, except Sundays and holidays. If you look a little farther afield, you can find some spaces without any time limits. There is also parking that is 8 hours during the day. If this would bother you--hunting for a parking space, and maybe moving your car--you might want to reconsider. But we didn't find it to be particularly challenging, even on this weekend where Hilo hotels were basically sold out, so I expect it's never very difficult.

This place was perfect for a quick trip to downtown Hilo Bay. Everything you need, perfect location to plenty of places especially if you don't have a car. I parked my rental and didn't have an issue finding street parking (but I was there Mon-Thurs). The check in was easy, the private entrance was nice. Only issue I had was my first night, (it can get pretty noisy in the evenings) and I could hear people talking and yelling in the streets...I woke up a couple times around 1am. Which explains the complimentary ear plugs I noticed on the table that was provided by the host. The host took great consideration in stocking this place, so you dont need to bring much to stay here.
