    Aloha,
In regard to the Covid-19 restrictions, Hawaii Governor David Ige has announced that people traveling to the state now must be in possession of the results of their COVID-19 tests before departing on the last leg of their trips. If they do not have the test results by that time, they will be forced to quarantine for 10 days. Quarantine must be done in a hotel or motel. It is not allowed to quarantine in a vacation rental, such as ours.

Beautiful and unique getaway in Ka'u, Hawaii, with a view of the southernmost tip of the United States at Southpoint, Hawaii. A wonderful place to stop between Kona and Hilo or the volcano, or to stop and stay longer for a relaxing time away from the crowds and noise. You'll feel refreshed and re-energized by the quiet and serenity. The stargazing at night is incredible and the sunsets magnificent. Sunrises, if you enjoy the early morning are also gorgeous.

The bungalow is ideal for 2 people. There is a very comfortable, king size bed.

Hibiscus Bungalow has been created with a unique eclectic style giving it a retro tropical feeling. Beautiful tropical woods have been used extensively in the details. The kitchen has a 7’ long bar made from a 2” thick lychee wood slab with a live edge, the bathroom contains a 7’ long vanity made of avocado wood, all the windowsills are mango or lychee wood and the 10’ wide lanai facing the ocean is faced with mango wood.
The walk in shower is tiled in spa colored penny tiles and glass block walls with a pebble floor. A large jalousie window looks out into the garden.

The bungalow is a special and romantic place where you can be centrally located to explore the Big Island, and at the same time be away from the crowded resorts, congestion and traffic of the busy city areas. Wake up every morning to the sound of the birds in the Ohi'a trees outside the windows. Sit on the lanai sipping your morning coffee or tea, while watching the ocean and sky lighting up with color
Here you'll see the real Hawaii, where the land is new and the landscape is undeniably dramatic. 10 minutes away are the Kula Kai Caverns, where you can go on guided tours. ½ hour drive gets you to Ka Lae, (Southpoint) where the braver people jump off the cliff and drop 50’ into the ocean below, then climb up a rusty old ladder to do it again perhaps. The famous Green Sand Beach is also down at the end of Southpoint Road. The beach is about a 3 mile hike in, or you can pay one ...

We picked this location for the the sky view and it paid off. Fred and Sandy were great hosts. The hot tub was a bonus after a long day of hiking. Best used as a getaway.

The hibiscus bungalow had literally everything. Everything we needed for a relaxing vacation. We came to the island visiting family so after a long day of laughs and adventures we were able to come back to the hibiscus bungalow and wind down perfectly. To top it off the hot tub under a meteoroid shower was one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen. They had everything from, band aids, to extra towels, to ice trays, to even maps and binoculars! The sun rises are unexplainable. Best way to summarize our stay was magical.

The owners are awesome! Impeccable property, provided boogie boards, snorkels, etc...helped navigate us to a local isolated beach. Very easy check-in and stay.hated leaving. Hotob was almost a nightly thing! Very clean! Highly recommended!

We enjoyed our stay at the Hibiscus Bungalow very much. Our hosts were available but never hovering. They had lots of information & shared all the beach chairs/coolers/towels too. This place is quiet on a lava flow with coffee & pizza places nearby….we didn’t eat Thai but there were grocery stores & even the Dragon laundry place with drop off services. We were in the middle of Kona & Volcano and very close to the best black sand beach & a yummy bakery. The description was as promised - the garden was lovely & we enjoyed the hot tub under the stars.

We were a little worried about the location at first because we couldn’t find it on the map but this was a hidden treasure. This bungalow was AMAZING! Don’t think too much about it , just get it. It’s totally worth it. The owners were extremely friendly and had great advice

We were lucky to find an open spot to reserve this comfy beauty. Everything was wonderful - a very comfortable bed, efficient kitchen and lovely bathroom. It was so peaceful and quiet. It was close to all of our favorite spots. The location is so interesting. A real Big Island place. Sandy and Fred are great hosts.

We loved our stay at the Hibiscus Bungalow. Pulling up to the property, you can see that so much attention has been paid to preservation of the natural landscape. The bungalow is located on one half of the property, and the owners live about 200 feet away. It was nice to have the owners nearby, as they were very attentive and ready to help if needed. Stepping into the bungalow, we were delighted by how open and airy it was, it almost had treehouse vibes. Windows everywhere and double sliding glass doors leading out to the lanai. The kitchen is well appointed, with the consumables and kitchen tools necessary for a week-long stay. There is a live-edge breakfast bar to sit at. The bathroom has ample counter space, and a beautiful walk-in shower with a stone floor and tile walls. The bed is extremely comfortable, and the sitting area inside the bungalow has a nice sofa as well. Sitting in the comfy wicker chairs on the lanai, you can drink locally grown Ka’u coffee with a sweeping view of the ocean. There is a propane grill outside the bungalow for guest use. The hot tub is secluded and well-kept. At night, the stars are stunning, and one of our favorite experiences on the property was soaking in the hot tub and stargazing after a long day. The location, in Oceanview, is convenient for travel to Southpoint (Papakōlea green sand beach) and the Punalu’u black sand beach. Other locations we enjoyed nearby were the Punalu’u Bakery, Oceanview Pizzaria, and Oceanview market. The owners were incredibly helpful and kind. They provided us with body boards, snorkels, fins, and a cooler for beach excursions, and they offered suggestions for places to visit that only locals would know about. We easily made day trips to Kona, Hilo, and the north end of the Island. The only downside is that we found ourselves driving home after dark some nights. We were also perfectly happy spending a day in Oceanview, enjoying the bungalow and the property. Overall, we really enjoyed staying at this property! If we were travelling to the Big Island again, we would definitely book the Hibiscus Bungalow for a relaxing vacation away from home.
