    Location is everything!

The Birdcage is a breezy and bright studio giving you clear views of the Koolau Mountains. With historic Waikiki Beach just outside the hotel lobby, the Birdcage is the perfect home base for exploring Honolulu and the rest of Oahu.

Double paned sliding glass windows greatly minimize the urban sounds of Waikiki, but let a lot of light in. An expansive roof deck on top of the hotel provides a bird's eye view of Diamond Head. There are lounge chairs for sunbathing and tables for alfresco dining. No one else in Waikiki has a better view of the sun setting into the Pacific. Kapiolani Park is just across the street and offers the Honolulu Zoo, Waikiki Aquarium, the Royal Hawaiian Bandstand, tennis courts, soccer fields, archery ranges, weekend art shows and the city's Sunset on the Beach free concerts and movies - all this in its 500 green acres.

One of the main reasons for coming to Hawaii is of course the sun and sand. Surfing, stand up board paddling, outrigger canoeing, swimming and simply lounging on the beach are all just a few steps from the Birdcage.

Hawaii is the crossroads of the Pacific and its culinary offerings reflect that abundantly, so while the Birdcage has a kitchen and microwave, you are a short walk away from countless cafes and restaurants catering to every taste and price range. Similarly, if you can get yourself out of the water and away from the beach there is a lot of shopping to be done in Waikiki, and the many other shopping venues just a short drive away.

The Birdcage is at the end of Waikiki. Kapahulu Avenue provides easy access to the freeway, and makes getting in and out of the area very easy because you avoid all the traffic in the heart of Waikiki. This is perfect for when you decide to explore the rest that Oahu has to offer.

This cozy studio is perfect for two people, with many highlights to enjoy. The location is the most significant benefit of this condo. You'll be in close proximity to Waikiki's famous attractions, including the beach, Leonard Malasadas, Rainbow drive-through, and ABCs. Kevin, the host, is incredibly accommodating, and the rental cost is a bargain for what you get in this prime location.

The unit was fine, nothing special. It had minimal extras (I had to ask for more toilett paper as there was only one roll for our 10 day stay). The unit could use a bit of a touch up, seems dated. The main issue was how noisy it is. You can open up the windows, but the street noise is way to loud. And if you close the windows the AC is crazy loud. We never felt like we could just chill in peace abd quiet. Other than those issues the location is great, parking was easy at the zoo or Monsarrat.

The Birdcage was perfect for my solo stay. It was close to the beach, restaurants, and transportation around the island. The 10th floor sundeck was a treat for morning coffee and evening sunset watching. It was an incredible view and perfect to see the Sunday fireworks. Kevin was a great host, making my early arrival easy.
