    Why this property?
This new house was constructed to be a world class beach park house. Large windows open to large decks. Breezes blow right through the house. Wall controlled ceiling fans throughout. Ceiling lighting, only the nicest appliances. Leather couches, wood flooring, complete cookware.

    Unique benefits:
If you plan on staying more than a couple days, you will have to enjoy the location. If you love the water and especially snorkeling, you will not find a better location. The best snorkeling is in just a few feet of water right in front of the black sand beach. It is like swimming in a tropical fish store. Green sea turtles come to rest for the night in the evening at the rocks just beyond the black sand beach. The water is largely sheltered by the rocks creating a partial lagoon. Yet this...

We had 3 generations of family on vacation for Christmas and New Years. The beach house had ample space for everyone. The views from the decks are amazing. The beaches are very popular during the day but had no issues. The toys in the shed are a nice amenity. We brought our own snorkel masks but the flippers, bikes and SUP board were fun. My grandsons loved looking for geckos. The sea turtles love the rocky beaches and shallow pools across from the house. Thank you for sharing this home and the island spirit with us. Mahalo!

This isn't the owners fault and I really wanted to love this house because of it's beautiful location, very nice host and the amenities that came with with it, but two things spoiled the experience. As other reviewers have noted, the house is adjacent to a fairly busy road. The beautiful lagoon and park are just across that road from the house. We were unprepared for just how popular this road and park were with the local hot rod and motorcycle enthusiasts. From roughy 10am-10pm every day cars and motorcycles would run up and down this road (multiple passes from the same vehicles) screeching tires, doing burnouts and revving engines. With no AC in the house, windows and patio doors were always open. The sound from the road was so loud in the house that at many times you could not carry on a conversation or watch TV. Secondly, the area (and much of Hilo) is infested with Coqui Frogs. These frogs begin their song as soon as the sun goes down and the noise averages about 88-90 decibels. Again, no AC, so windows must be open, this made it very difficult for the little kids to fall asleep. As I've said, neither of the noise issues is the fault of the owner and I can appreciate the problems it creates for them. The house itself is old and needs a very thorough cleaning and refresh of moisture damaged furniture and fixtures, however, the wonderful and free selection of water toys in the outdoor shed was a hug benefit to us. We used them often. Great place. Too noisy

We absolutely love it here! The home is spacious and the ocean is footsteps away. Richard is great and we highly recommend his residence.

Our three generation group of 10 had a wonderful stay. This is a great location. Plenty of space for all, three family groups didn’t feel crowded. We all enjoyed the upper lanai. Plenty of towels, cookware, and dishes. We enjoyed the Hilo area.

The location of the Hibiscus house was perfect! There were six adults and two children and we had plenty of room to spread out. I appreciated the well stocked bathrooms and kitchen. Plenty of towels too. We had a fabulous time.
