Welcome to paradise on the Kona coast! 1 mile south of Kailua-Kona town.
Enjoy the ocean breeze while having your morning coffee or breakfast on the main lanai surrounded by a beautifully tropical garden. Use Bailey's Hideaway as your staging area to the many activities awaiting you on the Big Island of Hawaii. Kailua-Kona town is just a miles walk north along the coastal Ali'i Drive. Along the way you'll pass the small but beautiful beach park of Honl's, a great place for sunset viewing. Continue on to town where you will find many restaurants to choose from.
The Kona Makai complex is privately owned. There are many year round residents that call it home. Due to the shape of the complex (U Shape), noise travels easily. Quiet time is from 9 pm to 8 am. At all other times, noise should not be disturbing to neighbors. This includes the common areas. Be sure to read the HOA rules posted on the kitchen counter. It is important to understand that as an owner I can be fined for guests not following the rules.
Kona Makai Amenities: Pool, Hot Tub, Tennis Courts, Fitness Room, Gas Grill/BBQ Area
Parking: There is no assigned parking. Covered parking is by permit only.
Due to local laws or HOA requirements, guests must be at least 21 years of age to book. Guests under 21 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian for the duration of the reservation.
Late Check-outs - Many visitors to the islands end up leaving on the redeye flights back to the mainland. Please understand, late check-out requests cannot be guaranteed and can only be handled the day of departure. This is because there could be a new guest checking in and my cleaning team needs time to prepare the condo for their arrival. Unfortunately, the only way to guarantee you can stay in the condo due to a late flight is to book the unit for an additional day.
There are many beaches to explore on the island. White, black or even one of the world's only green sand beaches at South Point!
Maybe star gazing on top of Mauna Kea. Or check out Kilauea at Volcano National Park. Will she be sleeping?
Waterfalls a plenty to explore and view.
The Big Island offers many hiking opportunities from coastal trails, to inland rain forest hikes. Hike down into Pololu Valley, a truly beautiful and powerful experience.
Is deep sea fishing on your agenda? Honokohau Harbor is home to dozen of charter companies that will help you land the big one!
There are many places to snorkel on the Big Island, from Kealakekua Bay (reachable by a 3 mile downhill trail or book a snorkeling tour) to Two Steps by the Place of Refuge. The island offers many scuba opportunities also.
For something completely different. Kazumura Cave Tours is an unique experience for those with an adventurist side. If you are extremely claustrophobic, afraid of being underground, afraid of the dark, have a paralyzing fear of heights, afraid of ladders, or extremely uncomfortable about being locked in, this may not be for you. I have personally done this and highly recommend it.
