Great place with lots of room. Awesome location on the South Shore and close to everything you need and easy to get to other points on the island.
Comfortable place, ocean view, and 10-15 minute walk to the beach.
The unit is a 3 bedroom with a nice, functional Ohana table…other than that, it’s “bare-bones” and not very inviting.
We have stayed on Kaua’i for decades. Vacasa is not a local company and it shows. Book with Parrish Kauai if it’s an option.
1) Better communication. Going through an app and getting canned responses via text or from overseas customer service is not personalized.
2) The unit was what we would consider “bare bones”…minimal dishes and utensils. No spices…not even the basics like salt & pepper
3) having most of the cabinets locked up made it feel as though we were intruding in someone’s home,
Not welcomed. No guest book, no photos or warming artwork, just very impersonal
4) Bugs were a real issue and were addressed with a token text.
5) beach equipment was amazing, it exceeded our expectations. Suggestion would be to add another beach umbrella and a cooler. The beach wagon was clutch.
5) Individual AC units were a game changer and much appreciated. We were hesitant to book based on reviews of the lack of A/C. It needs to be more clear in the listing however. Unit on the Lanai was annoying, but worth the trade off for temperature control.
6) location and 3 bedrooms were what attracted us to the unit. However, we have stayed at the Makauena several times in other units that are much nicer and up to date.
7) The Ohana table was perfect for family meals. It is a great centerpiece for the unit.

10) Late checkout policy is ridiculous! Vacasa offers a late checkout but if you don't responded immediately on the app (when your on vacation no less) they withdraw the option. Never in our travel experiences (which are vast) have we heard of such nonsense!!!
Upon arrival, we were unable to access the property with the door code we were provided with by the management company. We had to use a key (1) from the lockbox and did not get the correct code until 3 days later. Because of the entry issue, and only one key, we had to cancel some excursions to be available to let others in our group into the condo. The condo is dark inside, not like the pictures. The kitchen is not well stocked. The management asks tenants to housekeep before leaving. Worst is they installed a ductless a/c system and the extracted hot air vents out into the Lanai! So, you cannot enjoy the lanai because it is always hot!
The condo is dark inside even when all lights are turned on. The ductless a/c unit evacuates the hot air from the condo onto the lanai. This makes the lanai too hot to enjoy. The staff had problems with providing us with the correct access code too.
Unit was exactly as described. Very roomy, lots of beach supplies included, awesome view from the balcony. Very nice pool and hot tub area which was never very crowded. We loved walking along the path by the shore that was just to the left of the complex when facing the ocean. It went all the way to the Grand Hyatt with gorgeous views the whole way. Leaving the windows open during the day and having the air on at night kept the unit at a very comfortable temperature. Vacasa contacted us a few hours before check-in and said we could check in early without any additional charge, which was very nice. One thing to be aware of which was not an issue for us: there did not appear to be any elevators. There were several sets of stairs to get to the unit, which would be challenging for those with mobility issues.
We loved the location of this condo - easy walking distance to several beaches and stocked with chairs, coolers, boogie boards, umbrella, and even a cart to haul everything. The building is dated, but the condo is clean with a great layout and beautiful view of the sunset over the ocean. We did a lot of cooking and found the kitchen amenities to be lacking, but overall a great place and we'd stay again.
Unit is very nice, beds are very comfortable, kitchen is pretty well equipped and the location is great. You can't beat the view from the balcony!
When we booked it was advertised as having AC, however, it was later updated to partial AC - meaning portable units in each bedroom. There are lots of fans which was nice.
Take note of the 2nd floor electrical comment - it went out on us almost right away. There are no instructions on the electrical panel or in the provided books in the unit, but is available on-line which was not our first thought of where to look for assistance. Vacasa did respond promptly and a local rep called with instructions.
Overall, great place!
The property was very nice. The problem came with the air conditioner. The listing stated partial air conditioning but it did not state that from 2pm onward one half of the unit was unbearable because of no air conditioning. The owner is in the process of upgrading the air conditioning which led to having portable units in each bedroom which were loud and in order to sleep on the pull out couch ion the floor with no air conditioning I had to use two stand up and and the overhead fan which must be on a timer because I would wake up sweating when I went off.
Great location, near the water. Nice and quiet area, but still could walk to a few options for food and drink.
Excellent location with a good view of the ocean; it was partially blocked with a unit in front but below line of sight; nonetheless, a good view. Located within walking distance near Brennecke's beach (big waves) and Poipu Beach park. Accommodations were perfect for my family of 4 with 3 bedrooms; main room was large and 2 nicely sized guest rooms. Living room and kitchen space was great, clean and with furniture well maintained. The only negative is that lack of AC in the Living Room and Kitchen which is located on the Main Floor and it got very hot during my stay. Upper floor where the rooms are located had portable ACs and it stayed nice and cool upstairs.

Nice and spacey, beautiful location, crazy view. The Wi-Fi didn't reach all the rooms and the A/C wasn't extremely powerful butnother than that it was great!
