We've rented at Aston Kaanapali Shores for 15+ years and have seen at least 5 different one bedroom condos. This one was the most updated/modern and the best prepared one we have seen. Plenty of everything, including laundry and dishwasher detergent, etc. Prompt response by management to any question such as late check-outs. We will be back.
We have stayed at the Aston Kaanapali Shores many times in various units. This one was the most modern and best supplied. Questions (minimal) were quickly answered by text. However, this is not a Beach Front condo, it's an "Ocean View". Didn't matter to us but may to someone else.
Communication was great. We asked a couple questions about the area and they responded immediately. The condo was very clean. So much to do in the area.
We thoroughly enjoyed our time in the cute condo at Kaanapali Shores. The location was perfect, the condo was clean and comfortable and our host Charles was fabulous answering any questions. We look forward to returning!
Location is fantastic.. unit is close to the elevator - very accessible. Nice beach view. Market and restaurants across the street and food trucks every night. Overall we enjoyed our stay. Manager is very accommodating, check in was at ease.. great description on how to check in and where to park etc. nice beach.. would definitely stay again when we come back to Maui.
Great pool for kiddos. Walk onto beach. Friendly staff. Geat parking.
Communication with the property manager was great, he texted us hours before check in time with all of the instructions and even gave us early check in (too bad our flight got in later).
Once we got to the condo, check in was easy. However, once the staff at the resort knew that you were renting your condo from VRBO their attitude completely changed. They were unwilling to give us more linens (we were wanting more blankets and pillows), they did not want to accept a door dash delivery for us and hold it up front at their front desk for a couple of hours and we could not use the luggage cart to haul our luggage and groceries upstairs. They told us the luggage cart was only their condo guests and we would have to pay extra to use the cart. They told us we could use extra carts located in their parking garage, which ended up being grocery carts... The towel exchange was very nice, exchanging pools towels at anytime was a huge perk.
The resort was beautiful, grounds were lovely. But on one of our pool days we noticed that there was dog poop in the grass right next to the lawn chairs, so that was a bit off-putting.
Location of the condo is great. Walking distance to an ABC store, coffee stands, little restaurants and stores. There was also a great beach area to sit at and wade in the water but we did not swim in this area because it was a little choppy but other people were snorkeling and swimming.
The condo unit itself was decent, a little outdated but it was clean. The balcony was great and the view was beautiful. There were a couple security cameras in unit located in the corners of the ceiling, it looked like it could be personal home security cameras so that was a little odd... We wish the condo was more equipped with a couple of items like extra blankets, pillows, board games, movies, books, wine glasses, wine opener, beach supplies. Previous VRBO's in Hawaii have had these types of things so we were just surprised this unit did not have these items. The sleeper sofa was awful, it was like sleeping on box spring wires so unfortunately we had to go out and buy an air mattress to sleep on.
It was a great girls trip overall, weather was beautiful and we saw a ton of whales which was awesome.
Great location, love the restaurant/bar onsite when I’m not wanting to cook in the fully equipped kitchen
This was a perfect pick. Easy to get into the condo. We were able to walk to the market, and the grocery store. The condo is spacious compared to others in the area. Definitely will come back here.
Everything was really good! The grounds were amazing, the staff was super helpful especially the toll booth guy! There were stores and resteraunts a within walking distance. The condo was clean and the whole process was easy.
We had a wonderful stay in Maui and at the property. This area of the island is nice and quiet. Great access to the beach! Grocery store, restaurants, coffee shops either just across the street or within a couple blocks. Quick Uber to Front street for more sightseeing and great restaurants. Really enjoyed this area and the VRBO unit was excellent.
It was our first time in Maui so we booked this place as it appeared clean and along the lines of resort style. It exceeded all expectations it was clean, the staff was extremely friendly, and the location was perfect for all aspects of our travel. Additionally, the host was very responsive and provided detailed information throughout the entire check in process and stay.
Pros:
- Resort style
- Pool & Hottub/Spa ( baja shelf, plenty of comfortable lounging chairs, lawn games, rentable gear for snorkeling, towel service)
- Pool areas is open till 9pm. Nice to come back and relax in the hottub/spa.
- Access to beach (bring water shoes, rocks)
- Host was very helpful and informative
- Onsite parking ($10/day)
- Onsite restaurant & bar
- Onsite shopping
- Location to other restaurants, beach’s & shopping (Ross, On-Time Grocery, Slappy Cakes)
- Staff was very friendly
- Bartender makes great drinks
- In suite kitchen, laundry and AC
- Close to elevators
Cons:
- 2nd pool was under construction
- Rocks in the beach/water - bring water shoes it make the world of a difference. I bought a pair at the same on-site store for $25 and it was completely worth it.
- Food @ beach house/restaurant was gross, bland and expensive. We got calamari and it was chewy 🤢. However the drinks were GREAT!
- No chairs/tommy Bahamas for the beach
- Garbage takeout & linen takeoff was requested to be completed. This should be in the description of the stay in my opinion.
- Hair dryer is from the early 90s; prongs are rusted and it blows extremely slow. It a fire hazard and should definitely be replaced. Bring your own.
- Compared to Kona, the locals were way more hostile towards visitors.
- Everthing truly is more expensive 🤑
