We enjoyed our stay in Kona. The property location was excellent. Close to restaurants and stores. The condo complex was very good. A nice pool area, nice grilling area, and quiet at night. The view of the ocean was magnificent. We felt the condo was not clean. The kitchen cabinets handles were dirty and the cabinets over the stove have grease all over them. The furniture in the condo needs to be upgraded. The couch is worn, uncomfortable, and dirty. The outdoor table was nice but needs to be updated to something more modern. It is really uncomfortable to sit at. There were no lounging chairs to sit outside on the deck. The deck area is huge, nice loungers would have made it great. We ended up using the beach chairs to sit on the deck as they were more comfortable than the wooden table chairs.
We enjoyed our stay at Paul's VRBO. It's location and the property itself matched what was listed. Lots of places to shop/eat located a walkable distance.Would stay there again.
I have stayed in many rental units and this one has to be near the top, if not the top, of my list. First off the location is within an easy walk to 'downtown' Kailua-Kona, with lots of restaurants, shops, and bars. The complex has a nice pool and great lounging chairs. The only drawback is there was only one functioning grill/BBQ of the four. The location is great for watching sunsets.The condo is very clean and comfortable. It is ground level at the front door (no stairs) but the back patio is elevated, so you don't have people walking by your sliding glass door all day! Privacy is important to me.This unit has separate A/C units for the main room and the bedroom, so you can enjoy the sliding door being open to the main room while keeping the bedroom cool.The kitchen is important to us and this one has pretty much everything you need for pots, pans, utensils, etc. Also, the owner seems to be okay with the cleaners leaving any unopened leftover food, which is a wonderful bonus as you don't have to waste money on things like cooking oil or various spices. Although we did not utilize them, the owner has a large variety of water 'toys' for renters to use.Obviously, we were very pleased with the opportunity to stay in this unit and will stay there next time we are on the Big Island.
The condo was wonderful. Great ocean views. Location perfect, walking distance to town. Hot tub was a nice addition. The Mantra Ray night dive with Big Island Divers is a must.

Great first impression and view was better than expected. Plenty of room for 2 (bed was comfy) & would be spacious enough with kids out on the couch. As we were unpacking things in the kitchen, we realized the cleaning staff had really only done a through the middle cleaning - crumbs were in the corners and edges of counters, food under the toe kicks and the cabinet fronts and knobs felt greasy. We contacted Paul to let him know that the cleaning staff wasn’t doing as good a job as they should. He responded right away and said he would have a talk with them and offered to have them come back to finish cleaning. We declined as we had cleaned up most of it already. If the issue with the cleaning staff has been resolved, I would rate 5’s across all categories. It is so convenient to just walk into town rather than having to hunt for parking - and there was plenty of parking (in March at least) at the resort.
We have stayed at the Kona Reef a few times now in different locations each time. I can say without hesitation that this unit was one of the nicest, well stocked units in the complex. great views from a large lanai, perfect for morning coffee.

We had a great time in Paul's apartment. The communication was good from the beginning and he always answered our questions quickly. The apartment was as seen in the pictures. Everything was in order. It wsr everything there what one needed. The ocean is even closer than you think from the pictures. We had a great time and would come again. Thank you for hosting us.
We really enjoyed our stay this past weekend! Everything is very near to the lodging. The view was amazing and the condo was very clean. We especially enjoyed that it was air-conditioned because it is really hot in Kona. My family wants to come back again to stay here. I am in agreement. A hui hou!
