Great location on the first (bottom) floor. Resort is a short walk to restaurants and stores. A/C worked great, clean!, & loads of kitchen extras including coffee! Would choose this unit and resort again.
The hosts were fantastic. Great communication when we had questions. They had lovely hawaiian music playing on the tvs when we came in which made our entrance so enjoyable. We didn't need anything and took advantage of the fishing pool, pool supplies and binoculars that were available for use. Everything was wonderful, bed, sheets, layout and cleanliness. We would love to stay there again.
This was the most awesome place we stayed in our many years of VRBO stays. The location is amazing. Right on the coast! We loved watching the boats, hearing the waves, and enjoying the ocean breezes. Had everything we needed and was very clean. We were able to walk to many places around Kona.
More than what i expected for my dollar. Things I would use on a daily basis. It is also about location, couldn't have been any better, short walk to bars, shopping or just the beach. Love that the room had beach chairs, umbrella and towels. Made good use of them all week. They were good ones too. One thing to comment, kept getting warning about parking. It is not a smart idea to keep a placard in the vehicle stating where you are staying and tucked it away when we were out and about. Something i learned in my visits to many locations. It wiuld be smarted to give the license plate number to management. Speaking of management, we had to interface with the manager about a few alarms that went bad in the room during our stay. But we worked it out.

This unit is so well stocked with kitchen supplies and beach gear. The owners really have thought of everything! We were a little unsure about being in a first floor unit, but we loved being able to walk right out onto the lawn area, and the ocean view wasn't obstructed in any way. There is a small beach next to the condo building, but it is rocky. We enjoyed the sandy beaches more, but they were a very short drive and had free public parking, so it wasn't a problem. We would absolutely stay in this unit again!
First, after staying here, I can’t ever imagine coming to the big island and not staying in this condo! Everything was very clean and all the essentials along with some welcome gifts were provided! The staff went above and beyond to take care of us!! The view when you walk in is truly amazing!!! We can’t wait to return!
The condo offers amazing views, is conveniently located to so many great spots to visit and was clean and well-equipped with everything to make for a wonderful piece of paradise.
We have stayed in Kona multiple times and this by far was the best value for the experience. We loved this unit so much. I had set my expectations low, and I was consistently surprised. The property was a perfect location, clean, updated and a home away from home. Parking was right outside the unit, everything was labeled so you there was no guess work! What a brilliant idea! We never stayed in the Kona Reef before but walked past the units on our way to dinners on many occasions! It was so nice to step over to Dons for a happy hour Mai tai, Then to a different restaurant every night. The sunsets from the lanai were spectacular. The bird watching ( dang no whales) was extraordinary, the salt water pool and grill were immaculate and responsiveness from the owner was on pointe and immediate. All the gear for snorkeling at the beach, but I still prefer Snorkel Bobs snorkel gear! Camping chairs, boogie boards, beach chairs, coolers, beach towels, sunscreen, aloe, you name it! If it was hotter we would only have needed to get some ice packs! Can’t wait for our next stay there!!
We were all amazed with the location and beautiful views. From whale watching to the beautiful sunsets. The condo was very well stocked from the kitchen cupboards to the beach items. It was the perfect place for our little family reunion.
We had a fantastic stay at your condominium. The location is fantastic from the views to the easy walk into town. The condo is well equipped and had everything we needed! Highly recommend!

We had a wonderful time in Kauila Kona! The condo was in a great location! Beautiful views of the ocean!! Easy walking to some good restaraunts and shopping. The condo was clean and well stocked! Beach towels, chairs, coolers and snorkel gear to use. Beds were more firm then we like but overall it was fantastic! We would stay again!
I started here with my husband and two kids, aged 11 and 7. We chose this place because of the pool, free parking, and its proximity to Kona (an easy walk) and the beach (Hon'l Beach, basically next door). They had a well stocked kitchen (dishes, spices, etc) and we also really appreciated the beach items (chairs, cooler, umbrella, fins, goggles). We had a minor maintenance issue/question and they sent someone right out to look at it. Highly recommended, zero complaints.
We loved the location (corner unit, ground floor, right on the ocean). The condo is a short walk from central Kona for coffee, restaurants, bars, and shopping and even closer to places like the Royal Kona. The cupboards are amazingly well-stocked with the basics food wise and for having fun at the beach (towels, chairs, umbrella, sunscreen, etc.). The kitchen and living room space is perfect for four (my wife and I stayed for a week with my parents). The patio furniture is comfy and the shade is nice in the afternoon. The A/C works pretty nicely for escaping the hear. Parking is easy for the rental car, too.
Great location for Ironman race. Can walk to town & pier. Race route is in front of condo for bike & run.

Condo was wonderful location and great shape / layout. If you want to star gaze schedule twice a couple of days apart. National park had to close road down due to visibility and no availability was available during the week.

Lovely appartmwnt with great views. Very well equipped kitchen and beach stuff in good location. Not cheap but worth it as we had the best stay and the kids loved the pool.
The location of the rental was awesome! The view of the sunset and ocean were breathtaking.
We loved our stay. Enjoyed my morning coffee while my 10 year old went tide pooling on the lava rocks right in front of me.We were so happy they had snorkels & fins on hand for snorkeling, and beach chairs & umbrella for lounging at the beach. My girls loved the little token gifts provided as well. Walking distance from town was perfect. It felt like our home away from home. Would definitely recommend.
Gorgeous condo with an amazing lanai! Right on the ocean. Enjoy amazing sunsets every night. Also easy walk to shops and restaurants. A fantastic spot to stay!!
This was our third time staying at D8 and it was just as magical as the first two visits! We enjoyed sitting on the patio and watching the beautiful sunsets over the ocean! There was plenty of room for my family of 4 to be comfortable. We used the beach chairs, towels, and coolers that were provided for our daily outings to the beach. There were snorkels and fins in the unit for our snorkeling trip to Captain Cook. We were able to walk into town for shopping and dining every day!
Wow!! We loved sitting on the lani every morning and evening watching the boogie boarders and surfers. The porximity to the water is amazing. Our kids enjoyed playing catch out infront of the condo every night.
We have stayed at multiple VRBO's this one is hands down the most stocked kitchen, great knives, and spices. It also has beach chairs umbrellas, toys, and snorkle gear. We had wonderful stay.
We had a fantastic family trip to Kona staying at this condo. The hosts left all sorts of nice touches including guidebooks for the island, beach and snorkel gear, great coffee and snacks, etc that made it that much more special. Having breakfast and dinner on the lanai looking at the surf was truly memorable. The on site pool was great - literally spent hours in it each morning and parts of the afternoon too! Regarding some other comments, yes it’s not a 5 star luxury resort and some items could use TLC (eg a leaky faucet in the hall bath) but it really is a comfortable home away from home!
We absolutely loved this place. The view was amazing, sunsets WOW, watching surfers and cruise ships. They have everything you need, coolers, snorkel gear, beach chairs. Would love to stay here again if we come back. Thank you!
