Building is gorgeous inside and out. Everything you need is there, we even left a couple bamboo mats for the next visitors. Sat out on the porch in the evening drinking wine and listening to the frogs.Note that as the proprietor states, it is up in the rain forest, so it will rain and can be cool. That being said, it's a 20 minute drive down to sunny Kailua (where it can be a bit uncomfortably hot!).Owner very responsive. Nice stay

Beautiful little cottage away from the busyness of the resorts. The property is like being in your own private oasis. You can get to anywhere you want to go from there and when you return you have your own private space. We are hoping we have the opportunity to return one day.

This cabin has everything you could ask for, including a lanai with a flock of Hawaiian pheasants nearby. It is, however, difficult to find in the dark (a common experience if you've just come from The Mainland). Written directions were not sufficient and assumed that the visitor had access to GPS. So, there was some fumbling around on our part that made us totally miss a spectacular sunset. Other than that initial experience, everything was fine. Stores and restaurants are near, but not TOO near -- welcome relief in an area that is loaded with all the accoutrements of a large Mainland suburb and tourist colony immediately down the hill. The grounds around the cabin are lovely and the kind of relaxed Hawaiian atmosphere that many visitors seek awaits.

Loved this little piece of paradise! The pictures do not do it justice. The frog sounds at night, the pheasants visiting the backyard, the amazing porch and yard area. We loved it all! Thank you! Perfect location and hope to come back!

This is the most delightful VRBO I have ever stayed in. I absolutely adore it and never want to leave. It is absolutely serene. I was a little nervous about finding the location after leaving a workshop that I knew I would need some processing time to myself for before returning to my regular life, but I have the place I want my regular life to me. But she gave me a good reminder about finding it, and the entry into the space was easy and welcoming. The host is responsive and gave some extra information about the wild pheasants which I also adore now. :)Mahalo 3

This is a super nice cottage 15 min from the bustle of Kona. The gardens are beautiful (but do beware of mosquitoes at night). The house is well supplied, even with beach chairs and snorkeling gear. The sun sets are gorgeous. We wish we could have stayed longer!!!!

I would have given this place a five-star rating, but having only one set of bath lines per person for two nights isn't a 5-star place. It's one thing to reuse a towel for two showers but not have to reuse the washcloth!

It is a 10. Loved the position, the cottage, the surroundings the bed, shower and feeding the pheasants but feel we have to add, we are in our 80's. still love travelling and relatively active but.... we found the high bar table and heavy wooden dining chairs uncomfortable and difficult to get on and off! Kitchen very well equipped with everything you could want for kitchen appliances and utensils but, for someone who loves nothing better than to cook a meal on return from a busy day sightseeing, it was not a success - there is no counter space on which to work! Perfect for take out and a quick breakfast but I should have done my homework and made sure it was possible to cook a meal! Our fault but obviously others are very happy.

We were enchanted by the lodging (aka a Ohana). Perfect for a couple. Lounging outside was sweet. Also got some fantastic sky watching on the last night.

From the house photos, and location at 2,500 feet, we were expecting rain every afternoon, but only saw it clouding over in afternoon and on two days had clear blue skies to sunset. The deck was very wet in the morning with dew. It is a lovely house, with a great deck to enjoy breakfast from, set in a beautiful, extensive, private, tropical garden, which we loved walking around. We enjoyed the great, very peaceful, relaxing, location that was within a ten minute drive down the hill to Kona, and the beaches, but also close to the "Belt Road" for easy access to north, south and east of the island. We did find the house chilly in the evening (no heating) and cold in the morning, even after the sun had warmed up the outside deck. So be prepared! Of all the places we have stayed at in Hawaii over the years, this was the best and we plan on returning there next time.
