The ocean front view was amazing. Unfortunately, the overwhelming number of German roaches spoilt our stay. I did contact the owner, who never apologized. He was unwilling to get a professional out asap to treat the unit. My husband does pest control, and roach motels do nothing with German roaches. However, someone is scheduled to come out now we are leaving. There was no where available for us to move to on short notice. VRBO’s “guarantee” didn’t help either. I am disabled and we chose this location because of that. The unit itself has a great view, but the furniture is worn and the bathroom shower has rust spots and chips. The pool was supposed to be heated- it wasn’t. The washer dryer were very loud. The bed has seen better days, but so has the building. The location and view could not make up for my husband and I having to kill roaches every night. Pro tip leave the light on and less venture out from their holes. Wash everything in the kitchen before using. Because we found roaches in cupboards. If the owner had expressed any kind of apology, I’d have felt a little better about the situation. As it was it felt like we were held hostage, because all VRBO’s were sold out, and we’d have had to pay double for something last minute, and it would not have had the accessibility I need due to my mobility. We are so disappointed. And VRBO’s lack of care considering their “guarantee” means I will look elsewhere in future to find accommodation that I can rely on.
This condo had an incredible view! It was well stocked and comfortable.The communication with the host was on point, check and out were both easy processes. We enjoyed our stay very much-it was the perfect "home base" while we explored the Kona side of the island.

Communication with our host Edgar was excellent. The unit was clean and well stocked although there was a broken lamp. We enjoyed use of the beach chairs and cooler for beach days. We slept the first night in the bedroom but it was loud from street noises and bright from outside lights so we spent the rest of our stay sleeping on the fold out couch in the living room and enjoyed the sound of the waves every night. They were sand blasting in the parking garage so there was a lot of noise and dust at times there, and the one way entrance was being used as an exit as well, making it a dangerous exit. The location was great and close to shopping and numerous great beaches to swim, surf and snorkel.
We experienced a cleaning issue that resulted in us cancelling our stay after arriving. The on-island contact and owner were both very responsive and attempted to resolve the issue; the owner also provided a refund without contest. Based on the other positive reviews, and the communication, I'm willing to believe it was a one time problem rather than a pattern, so my review will focus on other elements.
I thought I was clooser to Kona, so that we could walk to the town.
You can't beat the view from the lanai! It's a great location for venturing with plenty of options nearby, or a good base for exploring the entire island. Everything in the unit was clean and worked. The property itself is showing its age and wear. Some reviews have mentioned the road noise, but that isn't a distraction if you're not trying to sleep in .... and there's too much to see and do on the island to spend time sleeping in. The host provided great instructions, details, and tips a few days before our arrival. The unit is stocked with a good assortment of beach gear for use by guests.

The Condo at Kailua Kona was a bit pricey. The furniture was outdated and uncomfortable. While the bed was great, it was very noisy in the bedroom since it faces Ali'i Drive. The outside lights on the walkway were on all night which is great, but the room did not have black out curtains so the bedroom was too bright all night long.The ocean view and sounds from our lanai were wonderful. It was easy to get to shops and restaurants by car in just a few short minutes. Parking at the condo was easy.

A very clean condo with everything we needed. We slept well in the bed every night. The view from the lanai was incredible, in particular the sunsets were just amazing. My wife and I would stay there again in a heartbeat.

The unit is spacious...large, very comfy living area with a dining nook for two, opening up onto a lanai with a spectacular ocean view. Adjacent decently equipped kitchen with a large fridge, oven, dishwasher and microwave. Stackable wasjet/dryer was great. The large comfy bedroom is on the streetside which is noisy by day, but no real problem at night. Bathroom/shower/tub is not updated, but adequate. Outstanding communication with manager including his huge email file with useful tips. The unit is a bit old, not updated, but a great value. We enjoyed it.
The view from the condo lanai was amazing. The condo had everything we needed: beach chairs, beach towels and snorkeling gear. The kitchen had everything we needed and more. The bedroom is on the street side of the building with the windows open this makes it a bit noisy for sleeping. If you like to walk or run, the location is great but stores are a little far if youjust want to grab a cup of coffee.The owner was very attentive and easy to contact. Wonderful location, right on the ocean.
We loved our stay here. The views can’t be beat. The furniture was comfortable - I really slept well! The kitchen was well equipped with every thing we needed. Lots of spices there for our use too. There is plenty of snorkel equipment, beach towels, etc. We had a little trouble getting the tv going and were completely impressed with the local contact, she was quick and efficient and such a nice person - a real gem. We can recommend highly!

We have stayed at various KBK properties for the past 20 years. This unit has wonderful views and the host is very responsive as is his local contact. Unit is a bit dated though clean and appointed with everything one needs for a great stay. Our only wish, especially for the price point, is that the unit had a/c for the 3:30 to 5:30pm hot part of the day or additional shades to keep the unit cooler when there are no breezes during those warm hours.
We had a wonderful stay at Kona Bali Kai overlooking the ocean. The property was perfect for us and I especially loved the Hawaiian artwork. I definitely recommend staying here if you plan to visit Kona and are looking for something ocean front.
Spent the end of our honeymoon here. Wonderful view from the lanai; great place for a meal. We only stayed for two nights, and we were treated to an amazing sunset the first night (we were at a luau the other night). Good proximity to Kona-area beaches; we did Captain Cook (beware the hike out) and Makalawena, which was absolutely perfect. The bed was super comfy, though the road noise was a little annoying (the bed room is on the road side of the condo and you’ll probably be too hot to close the windows). The apartment wasn’t super clean, especially with dust around the fans and higher surfaces. It was also pretty warm even with the windows open at night. Overall, it was good, and if you plan to spend most of your time out, it’s a good place to sleep and spend the mornings and evenings.
The condo was nice and in good condition. Safe and pleasant with lanai overlooking the ocean. Lovely view. But the bedroom is on a busy road. At night, even with the ceiling fan and floor fan going, the car-truck-motorcycle noise is very loud until about 2am.The ocean waves don't reach the bedroom even with the sliding door open. We ended up sleeping part of each night in the living room on couch pillows and folded blankets with waves in the background. That was better, but not ideal.
Property was close to shops and dining but right off the main road and a bit noisy at night.
