family time here allows gathering with abundant space to play games and have meals together. located close to town and easy access to beach where the kids could swim. the owner came by and gave us local avocadosand responded to our 1 concern immediately.
The house and neighboring houses are very pretty, feel very Hawaiian. Unobstructed ocean/beach view across front lawn. Looking back to house from lawn opens up to gorgeous view of green jungly mountains. Living room and tropical furniture felt cozy when it rained. North coast is nice with small towns, small roads, less developed beaches. We stayed with our 2 adult kids which was a bit of a squeeze. They shared a room, and we all shared the bath. But the overall experience made the tightness well worth it. Would stay again.
This was probably at least our 5th stay at the Kobyashi’s “compound.” All the properties are in very good shape and well appointed. The views and sound of the surf are awe inspiring. Mahalo nui loa.

We loved this simple and relaxing stay. The pictures were very accurate. Our kids were able to play frisbee and run on the lawn outside. We could hear the waves crashing and the birds. It was perfect for us, away from the crowds and noise.
Come for the location (steps from Hanalei Bay) and the experience of living on what is one of best, most beautiful beaches anywhere. The home was clean and well appointed but definitely not fancy. But fancy is beside the point when you are surrounded by so much natural beauty. Great experience overall.

We had a great time right on the beach near the water in Hanalei, my favorite part was that there were a bunch of toys available that we could play with the water or on the big green lawn out front. we rented bikes and were able to bike to restaurants and all over the bay! We had such a lovely time I would absolutely stay here again, and suggest it to anyone! We will be back!
If you want to stay ON the beach, this is it! It is not the most luxurious place in Kauai, but it is very comfortable, has everything you need, and if your goal is to be outside and at the beach, this is as good as it gets.

We enjoyed our stay in this beach bungalow. It was small, but provided the essentials. The view and large grassy area was great for the kids. Our only complaint was we couldn't swim at the beach because of the rip tides - red flags were up. We had to drive to a different part of the bay, which defeats the purpose of paying for this location.
The property was clean, and the location was perfect. Sand was steps away, and it was a 10-minute walk to the shops.
This.condo needs a complete refurbishment. There was no dishwasher. So we washed every dish twice. Before as who washed them and after we used it. The coffee pot is out of motel six. It hold two mugs of coffee and then wash it to make more. There is no ice maker other than ice cube trays. Straight out of the fifties. The furniture need s to be cleaned. Our bottom sheet Was balling The beach towels are worn out. It someone rents the upstairs. It is like no noice barrier. The laundry room is used by 3 houses and is fifty yards away. As is the outdoor shower. The best part is the patio where you can see the ocean. I have rented 7 houses in the north shore this was the worst.

We had a fantastic time. The house was a perfect size for 5 of us and a great location to the beach.
I absolutely loved this place. Beautiful location. We would definitely stay there again. Two things I would highlight. As clearly stated on the listing, there is no air conditioning. I’m usually hot, my wife is usually cold. There were times we were both still a little hot with the windows open and the fans on, but not so much that we wouldn’t stay. Second, the washer/dryer isn’t in the unit, it is in a communal space with the outside shower. Knowing this, the way it’s listed makes sense, but that’s not how I read it/what I expected. We never had to wait to use them and it wouldn’t keep us from staying here, but I thought I’d include it so it was clear. Again, we loved it!!
What a location!!! We loved it so much will hopefully make it a family tradition. House is super comfortable and clean. Might be time to update some of the kitchenware but had everything we needed. Outdoor shower was a hit with the whole family.

This was probably our 7th time at one of the cottages here on this property. We love the location. We love the view. We love being in a place that is true Hawaiian style. We will be back for #8 and then again. (If the PM is reading this a larger coffee maker would be great as well as a full length mirror in the master.)

Beautiful location! Charm of old school home
We live everything about this property and location!
This downstairs unit is old but functioning and the location is excellent. You are ON the Hanalei bay beach and can see the waves breaking from inside the unit and from the lovely covered patio. Roll out of bed and take a nice walk on the beach or paddle out to surf on many of the different breaks around the bay. A lovely 15 min walk to "town" takes you to coffee and bakery in the morning and dinner at night. We were lucky to not have any tenants above us the entire week other than the first night. As expected, it is loud when they walk around above you. The unit was very clean and had everything we needed. Check-in instructions were sent out a full week early from an unexpected sender, so I missed that email, making arrival a little stressful, including a call to vrbo. There is an outdoor shower and laundry a few steps away. Overall, a great place to stay.
