This has been our 2nd year at this property. It has been even better than the 1st time. We will be returning next year!
I loved the property location being outside of Kaanapali (too fancy) and on the water. We were able to watch the sunset each night. The room had most everything we needed. It was close to shopping and beaches.The info stated that there was a portable A/C which was true. Unfortunately, it did not do a good job of cooling the whole unit. It never got below 83 degrees.
This was a great condo for our stay on Maui - wonderful location and such a beautiful view!!Management was very communicative before our arrival - they even called to make sure we had received some importan information prior to our stay. The condo was clean, well stocked, and we enjoyed the community grill being so close to the unit - we used it multiple times. Very comfortable pool to relax in during the evenings. The location was very convienent to everything we wanted to do!2 things would have made our stay a 5 star rating - the portable ac unit never cooled below 86 degrees - the bedroom got a nice breeze with it's windows open at night to make sleeping more comfortable. Darker window shades in the bedroom would help with the exterior lighting coming in. We look forward to our next visit!
We loved our stay here! Loved the view and proximity to the water. Loved that beach chairs were provided. Loved the Ohana of Honu who feed daily on the ocean wall. Loved snorkeling right off our small beach area to see the Honu up close. Loved the Old Hawaii vibe of Kahana Reef. Things we would change: we expected the kitchen to have basic condiments in the fridge-we had to buy and leave, so hopefully those stay for the next guest. We would have loved a rug by the lanai door-we ended up using towels to try to keep the dirt from the lanai outside. The AC unit in the living room was appreciated but it’s really not enough to cool off the bedroom, even with every fan available running constantly.
Every dish & appliance I grabbed was filthy or had food stuck to it. Bathroom shower glass rails corners filthy shower handle fell off in hand, bathroom light burnt out toilet paper roll and cleaning brush cover corroded, exhaust fan did not work due to electric wire issues. The bar stool wicker was damaged stick or sliver You if sat in. Microwave did not work. Stove exhaust fan no switch to use it. The window handle was broke could not shut windows for full privacy from people constantly walking by peering in. No coin machine to exchange dollars for use of laundry facility police showed up on grounds searching for someone. The office for grounds open but no one ever there. Management of condo kept contacting to get service people in there to fix what should of been checked and fixed before renting and advertising it as renovated is a joke it needs a lot of work walls dirty whole place felt grungy and things not working and broke and being bothered when trying to enjoy vacation was unacceptable because shower never fixed window not fixed fan not fixed cleaning crew not sent back in only thing that was done was another microwave brought in and dirty used blender to replace other dirty blender. Had to take our valuables & luggage every time we left condo knowing someone was coming or going in and out of condo to supposedly fix things that did not get fixed or cleaned then have them there while trying to relax the whole experience was not pleasant for My 87 year elder nor I.
Relaxing spot with good amenities and great view. We saw whales jumping every day!
This was a very nice property and the view is spectacular! That alone made it worth every dime. So many whales!!!It really needs the addition of a mini-split A/C system. It offered a single rolling A/C unit that can only be vented where it sits in the living area. It doesn’t cool the bedroom. If you don’t mind sleeping in mid to upper 70 degree temps, it likely won’t be an issue. There is a slatted-glass window next to the sliding glass door. The steel lever that allows for opening and closing was broken off, so the unit has a window open 24/7. We toughed out the warm temps that first night and woke up to the yard maintenance being performed. We knew we needed to seal it off to cool down the place, but to keep the yard dust out too, so we headed to the hardware store and bought painter’s tape and plastic to seal it off from the outside. It helped, but we still had to sleep on the foldout couch for comfortable sleeping temps. We did not request service since the plastic fixed it well enough for us and we wouldn’t feel like we needed to hang around while we waited for someone to address the issue.
This was our third time staying there. We love it, and have made many friends in the area. The ocean is right there, and you can see the turtles popping up for air right out your window. You can also the see the whales in the distance in the winter months. It is within walking distance to a Whaler's store, (convenience store) if you're okay without a side walk, and close to restaurants and a few shops. Not the best place for kids, we would say it's more suited to adults, due to no railing on the sea wall.
This property is in a perfect location. 20 feet from the ocean. We left owner with a few recommendations for updating and improving the unit, minor stuff, but we would go back in a heartbeat. You won’t be disappointed. Location, location, location.

My sone and new daughter-in-law enjoyed their stay so much, my wife and I are now plotting our own trip. Thank you for the rennovated space that was perfect for 2. Loved it!
No complaints for what it cost. Location is great. View is spectacular. Very quiet. On the downside, the bathroom needs a lot of work and the louevred windows need repair. The place could also use a deep clean, a new couch, and pillows that aren't all extra firm. If they also add actuall AC rather than a swamp cooler and a dozen fans, they could probably charge more.
Unique spot right on the water with turtles near the shore! Very well équiped apartment with all you need, including cooler, chairs, foil and soaps for everything. Very confy.
We talked to neighbours to find out where the laundry was.excellent rental for West Maui!
We had a great stay at the property. The location is fantastic and views were incredible. Watching the sunset every evening from the comfort of the patio was the highlight of our trip. Our only qualm was that the listing stated there was AC, but there was only a portable unit in the living room that couldn't be felt if you weren't within 10 feet of the machine. All of the fans were nice to have but the bedroom was warm as we stayed during the month of July. I would recommend either putting an AC unit in the bedroom or changing the description. Thanks for a great stay, host was incredibly responsive. We would come back!!
My husband and I truly enjoyed out stay! It was so great to wake up every morning and enjoy breakfast on the patio and listen to the ocean. We saw many sea turtles right out our door. It was great to have a kitchen. We loved that there were beach chairs, a beach umbrella and beach towels for us to use. We also really appreciated the two fans in the bedroom and the air conditioner in the main living space. Thank you for a great stay!
We have stayed at Kahana Reef three times and love the location. This unit is a ground floor which we like. I felt the management company was very prompt when things came up. They also left laundry detergent and dryer sheets, which was a nice plus there was also snorkel equipment available. I felt that the posting saying it was recently remodeled, was not quite accurate as it seems like it’s been some time since that actually happened, these units get a lot of use and it definitely felt a little tired. It was not 100% clean when we arrived there was hair in the shower drain and on the wall and I think the bathroom drawers should be wiped out. I also think they should replace the hairdryer and the lanai furniture both were pretty old. We really like Kahana reef because it’s very laid-back and we’ve met a lot of nice people who are around our age which is retiree age. The grounds are nice too.
The property was everything the description said it would be. access to the beach, close to food and shops, quiet neighbors, easy access to anything we needed. we enjoyed our stay very much!
Pretty quiet, yet still close to everything we were looking for. Pool was warm, the views beautiful, and so close to the water to watch the turtles.
