We are a family of five and chose this listing because it said it could sleep 6 with a pull out bed in the living room. When we arrived, there was no pull out sofa at all and only space for four to sleep. There WAS a locked third bedroom that we contacted the front office about and they were eventually able to open for us to use. Not the best way to start a trip. Overall the place is old and needs updating. The furniture is old and attached to the walls so it’s impossible to use the plugs, there are numerous water stains and signs of wear, and the place overall had a musty smell. There is no air conditioning, which we knew, but the listing made it seem like as long as you open the balcony doors, the trade winds cool the place down. This is only true for the master and the living room, our kids in the two other bedrooms had no air flow and were miserable at night. It just wasn’t what we were expecting at all. I will say, the staff was very kind and helpful when we would reach out to them, so that was nice.
Unit has standard vrbo amenities. Artwork in the unit is beautiful! 3rd floor gives great views. Bed is firm (not my preference). One of office staff gave "im having a bad day" vibes. Will book again.
I’m giving the property 4 ⭐️ but VRBO gets 0 ⭐️.
If you’re looking for a home base and plan to go out and explore the beautiful island of Kauai, this is a great option. A very short walk to Lydgate Beach Park which is a great swimming/snorkeling/beach lounging location. Pack a cooler bag in your luggage because there are ice packs provided & the ice maker in the freezer works very well. We appreciated the beach chairs and umbrellas. Plenty of toiletries should you leave yours at home. Firm beds. Beautiful sunrises from both the master BR & living area lanais. We loved spotting the chickens & cats, but be prepared that they’re everywhere and the roosters start around 4am, sometimes earlier. Leave your white noise machine at home as you’re right on the ocean (not swimmable in front of resort) and the waves and ocean breezes will lull you to sleep.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
This ocean front unit is even better than represented on the website. The layout is very comfortable in this three bedroom (sometimes rented as two bedroom) top floor corner unit. Lots of windows to catch the breezes; no need for air conditioning on our visit. The kitchen was well-equipped and came with a basic supply of dish soap, dishwasher detergent and paper towels but you'll need to provide your own condiments, foil, plastic wrap and the like. We've stayed at the Kaha Lani several times, and love that the complex is situated off the highway in a quiet area between the public golf course and Lydgate park. A coastal trail runs in front of the property, making it easy to take long walks. The office and housekeeping staff are friendly and helpful here. Highly recommend!
-Great location near middle of coastline with easy access to drive up north to Princeville or down south to Poipu!
-To clarify: unit 324 of Kaha Lani condos has 3 bedrooms (1 with a king with a walk out balcony and view of ocean, 1 room with 2 twin beds, 1 room with a queen). 2 bathrooms, family room with a balcony with ocean view, full kitchen (has just about everything!).
-No air conditioning, but with windows open you can listen to the waves and enjoy the nice breeze. Ceiling fans helped circulation too. Never had issues feeling too hot at bedtime. We were gone every day during the day.
-Nice walkway along beach for morning 2 mile jog with great views.
-Simple beach access, but with strong current and rough waters, swimming/snorkeling not safe there. Nice to sit and enjoy the view of large crashing waves.
-Beach towels included, can turn in to office for fresh ones.
-After your flight, go to your room 1st before going to the store. Look in closets and cabinets to see what is there from previous guests. (When we went there were beach chairs, beach mat, sunscreen, blowdryer, and hair straightener. We added to it and left a boogie board, beach chairs, pool noodles, umbrellas, and shampoo/conditioner). Once you know what you need, go to Ho'omana Thrift Store for beach/pool products or clothes, and/or Wal-mart or Safeway nearby. Recommend you buy a cooler, beach chairs, beach umbrella, and ziplock baggies for your stay if needed.
-Roosters start to crow at 6am so pack earplugs if you don't want to wake early. However, I recommend you don't sleep in. Get your day started and fit in as much adventure as possible.
-Recommend you make restaurant and excursion reservations weeks BEFORE you arrive for your trip. We encountered many things already booked
The apartment was neat and clean. my family and I felt very comfortable. I was very surprised to find it was more than advertised. could not beat the views.
