Liked it so much the first time we stayed at the Honua Kai about 5 years ago. It was the same amazing experience this time. A very family friendly environment with plenty of activities for kids. The location is also a plus. We will be coming back every time we visit Maui
I loved this place, and I highly recommended is right by the beach, mostly every morning I grab a beach chair(provided with the apartment) and a 3 minute walk and there I was, crystal clear waters and beautiful views.
I was able to see Black Rock from the beach, I could have walk to it if I wanted to. The pools and hot tubs have plenty of cabanas and chairs to relax, pool towels are provided with your room key, they have parking underground and when is full they provided valet parking.
There is a restaurant in the resort you just have to make a reservation, we walked in and got a reservation for a hour later while we waited we walk to the beach right in front the restaurant and watch the sunset.
The apartment is spacious, I requested a rolling bed thinking my kid was going to used but ended up using the pull out sofa instead so the bed stayed in the living room and we still had more then enough space to move around plus you can open the sliding doors complete and have more space and enjoy the beautiful weather. there was everything we need it in the kitchen. Overall is a great place to stay in Maui.

The place was spacious and exceeded our expectations! The resort was awesome, great pools, and had a nice beach access. It was so nice that the room had all the beach amenities-chairs, umbrella, toys. Loved there was a small convenience store downstairs. The kitchen was spacious and had everything we needed. Definitely would hope to stay at this resort again!
Love it here everytime. Rented the same room twice and is perfect for our family of 7. Close to lots of food options you can walk to or short drive too. Kaanapali Beach is a great location to stay and Honua Kai is one of the best spots on the island.
The property (entire property) is well maintained, clean and easy to get around. We love the towel process that is easy and effective, even better this property enforces a policy around stacking your claim. Meaning, how often have you gotten down to the pool at 8:00 and there are towels and books placed around the pool. Well, I saw security walking around and placing guests stuff in bags and returning it to the front desk. AWESOME.
The unit itself really lacked pride of ownership, the furniture was twenty years old, stained carpet, stained lighting, beds with no springs, couch was enough for three people thats it. Kitchen had limited pots and pans, the one large pan was easily ten years old which made it hard to cook. There were no tongs for BBQ or grilling so you needed to use a fork. No music system, old small televisions (35in Sharp) so you couldn't connect into NetFlix, Amazon etc so not good for kids (you can buy new one for $200). The unit says it sleeps eight (it does) but they only provide two beach chairs. We were a party of four and there were exactly four towels, so we needed to wash towels several times a day to have clean towels (how much does a few extra towels cost?). We've stayed at the property over eight times this was the worst unit and would not select this unit for our next family trip.
We absolutely enjoyed our stay here!! Perfect location to all our favorite restaurants, beaches, church, etc.
Booking through KBM Resorts was smooth and easy. We were able to stay at the resort we wanted with the bedding flexibility we desired which was not an option through the resort itself. Thank you for a wonderful stay!
