Clean and comfortable room, well stocked with anything you might need/want, and great location!!
Bathroom and kitchen could have been a bit cleaner upon check in. With a week long stay, a refresh of towels and linens would have been nice. Parking, check in, amenities and location were top notch.
The location in a neighborhood was great. It was quiet and peaceful. It’s an older place, dated but with a lot of nice attention to detail. One beach was just a walk away, and the other a 10 minute drive. Both were not crowded. We liked that restaurants and shops weren’t too far away in Kailua, since there was only a microwave at the VRBO.It was 30-60 minutes to go into Honolulu, depending on traffic.
It had a great location close to beach. It was on a quiet street. Host was very gracious with the treats and breakfasts provided. It was nice, like staying at grandma’s house. Older decor, but clean and comfortable.
We loved staying there. Everything that you could imagine was available and many extras were included. Janice was always available and accomodating. The beach is farther away than we expected, although if you got out early, there was plenty of parking for beautiful beaches.
We wanted a quiet area in Oahu, away from the crowds of Waikiki. The Lanikai/Kailua area was a great place to stay that wasn’t too far away from Honolulu when we had activities there.
This studio is in a quiet residential neighborhood. The studio itself is a bit dated, but it’s a quaint place. Janice, the homeowner, personalized some nice details, which was really nice. Breakfast baked goods, fruit, and snacks lasted us for most of the week.
It was an enjoyable stay on Oahu.
Very nice. Great location. Comfy bed. Beautiful plants.
Quiet property, well appointed room with snacks and breakfast items. Extras for beach or picnics or hiking like beach chairs and small cooler. Easy walk to beach access. Easy checkin/checkout. Read the host instructions about parking!
We were here for one week for work in Kailua, so the location worked well for us. The host leaves a very generous basket of food and snacks upon arrival. All amenities such as towels, bedding, accessories to use at the beach, shampoo, coffee, extra toilet paper and tissues- all extremely well supplied. I feel the room needs a refresh- even fresh bed linens and new pillows would go a long way. Same with the shower curtain- it's all rusted up where the hooks are- considering the amount charged for the studio and the cost of a new shower curtain, it seems like it could be do-able to refresh the curtain every few months. Grounds are beautiful- Lanikai/Kailua are stunning- just know it's a drive to anywhere else on islandA few cons for us; we had a LOT of luggage as we carry a portable office in suitcases wherever we travel- you WILL have to navigate X amount of stairs. The path to the stairs is beautiful, but rocky and uneven- I wouldn't recommend this to anyone who isn't sure-footed or is shaky on their feet. Also- I feel it should be noted in the listed that parking is a bit of a challenge. there IS a nice carport that is for guests to use- however if you have anything larger than a compact size, it's near impossible to fit two cars in at the same time. You are encouraged to not park in the driveway, so it made it hard when another mini-van was in the carport and I could not park our car. We did park way off to the side of the driveway for a few hours but I felt badly.
This was a great place to stay. Beautiful location, our room was clean and well stocked. Our host was on site and easily approachable. We loved it!
I was convinced by the previous reviews and ratings that this place would be great. Unfortunately, it is now a bait and switch. They will assign you whatever room they want to each guest. And given the cancelation policy, you will be stuck with it. A two room suite with hot tub is the same cost as the studios, and guests have no control over which room they are assigned. Also, there is no breakfast. You will not be greeted by anyone, just given different phone numbers of people to contact if you need anything. It's not a bed and breakfast at all.
A great stay, beautiful location and reasonable price. It was quiet and private. The owner was very responsive to a request for more pillows. The decor is alittle dated but not in a distracting way. All in all, a great place to stay!
This place is so cute and quiet. After a long day playing tourist it was so nice to come back to this clean, quiet studio. The extra touches were great. Waking up to the birds every morning was so special. I love this place.
Lanikai is truly one of the most beautiful places on Earth, and Hawai'i's Hidden Hideaway and its host, Janice, are absolute treasures. We definitely plan on returning, and would recommend this property to anyone wanting a peaceful and private stay within walking distance of one of the top beaches in the world, and easy access to all the inland and coastal sights on O'ahu.
We wanted to stay in Kailua because of Lanikai beach and this was just a short walk away—so perfect!! The place was super cute, we got the room with the hot tub and we got a lot of use out of it!! Also, I wasn’t expecting the amount of snacks, drinks, and breakfast items in our unit when we arrived! It was super generous and delicious stuff!!! Thank you very much for the wonderful place to stay.
A short walk to amazing sunrises every morning followed by hours of sunshine and walks in calm clear water along the shoreline taking in the breathtaking scenery with nearly not a soul in sight.
The owner puts a lot of thought and effort into all the little special things that make a stay special. Local fruits, snacks, baked goods make for a nice extra touch. Great location.
Could not have asked for a better location! We typically begin our holidays in busier island areas then end somewhere more relaxed. This BnB worked great for us. The breakfasts made it possible for us to get our days started early. And the beach equipment was appreciated and in really good condition. Even without the tradewinds, we didn't need the a/c, fans kept us comfortable.
The location is incredible, just a short walk to beautiful Lanikai beach! There was a bit of confusion about which place we were staying in but once we were there it was clear. We were in a studio with twin beds and a small kitchenette. there was a nice sitting area for breakfast. Our lovely host Janice provided everything we needed for our beach outings and more food than we could eat! A big thank you to Janice!
Janice, the host, thought of all the little necessities. We basically needed our clothes. We were there for a quiet get away and that is exactly what we got. Very serene!
Hawaiis Hidden Hideaway is a real gem! Clean, comfortable and with every amenity you can think of to make your stay as comfortable as your home. We found our suite to be so relaxing and quiet and our host was a wealth of information and an inspiration to boot! We will definitely be back. Thank you Janice!
From the outside it is just like the pictures . The inside is a different matter . It’s is dirty outdated and cluttered . It’s also infested with bugs and mosquitoes. I received 9 bites within 24 hours , and I have an allergy to bites so I’m still dealing with the aftermath. The host is extremely slow to respond insists on communicating via email or landline phone which she never answers and takes 24 hours plus to respond . Also the stirs going to the studio are a death trap rocks and uneven edges that she waters at night and in the am it’s a slip and fall nightmare .We received a refund - however that does not begin to compensate for the bites , we checked out 3 days early and moved to a clean hotel.
Janice thought of everything. Room was well stocked, private and comfortable. Close to beach and Kailua town center. Enjoyed the stay!
Nice location. Had ants in the room, but overall okay.
Great location. Many extra treats. Online said hot tub, and kitchen. Hot plate, toaster, coffee maker, refrigerator. Bathroom sink for washing dishes. No hot tub.
A fabulous location - close to beach, golf courses, activities/adventures, restaurants and more. Our accommodations included a private hot tub on a deck with wonderful landscaping, sun and coastal breeze that created a wonderful ambiance. Janice, the B&B host provided an abundance of goodies and personalized treats. The kitchenette was well equipped and the bedroom and bathroom spacious and accurately described.
Classic Lanikai getaway. Tropical paradise. Well stocked. Friendly management. Why wouldn’t you pick this place and enjoy your good fortune.
Great spot with everything we needed for a mommy/daughter vacation near our favorite beach :)
