As others have stated you do see many homeless camps along the way. However we never felt unsafe at the property. They have great controlled access to the gate, the elevator and the beach access. We rarely saw more than a few people at the beach, no crowds, great views! When the sun is setting you do need to close the curtains though because that sun is bright! But we would definitely return.
our unit was very clean and had a fabulous view of the beach. We have always stayed at resorts when we vacation so this took some getting used to regarding amenities right on the property. We knew that going in so it’s not a complaint. It’s just what it is. The waves can be very scary in front of the building so please pay attention and be safe. We met some very nice people and really enjoyed the restaurant 604 Beach House. I can’t put into words my appreciation for there being a washer and dryer in the unit. It made a world of difference. I would recommend this property to others. It’s got a very laid-back feel to it, which is what we wanted.do not pass up the opportunity early in your stay to go to the historic town at the coast and eat at Jenny‘s shrimp truck. We went a couple of times and rolled our eyes every time we took a bite of the garlic shrimp.

View was great. Pool was clean and we enjoyed it. The condo was clean and a nice place. The neighborhood was very diverse. The host was very responsive to our needs, anytime we communicated with them. The building is improving its appearance and
The host’s communication throughout the entire process was excellent. The home was thoughtfully stocked with everything we could possibly need. The locals were warm, helpful, and made us feel truly welcome. We enjoy staying in areas away from typical tourist spots, though this location was about an hour from many of the places we wanted to explore.
The unit was well maintained and very well stocked for a delightful 8 days in the sun. The view of Papaoneone Beach lifted our spirits from morning until that magnificent sunset at night.
Comfortable condo, had everything we needed, clean, well stocked. The neighborhood isn’t the best, but the property is gated and the staff is welcoming and helpful.
Away from all the hustle and bustle and stress of downtown. Still conveniently located to all the major attractions on Oahu. Beautiful sunsets every night on our own beach. The condo is very comfortable and is as appears in the photos. This was a trip for our anniversary and my wife’s birthday. Our host left us separate cards to celebrate each occasion. Very thoughtful.
The condo was very clean and had many amenities. The host was very responsive and accommodating. We enjoyed the quiet location over looking the ocean and the private beach was beautiful. The location was a bit far away from activities and restaurants but if you don't mind being away from it all - this is the place for you! Thank you for all the extras! My wife and I enjoyed our stay at this property. The condo was as advertised and well stocked. We really enjoyed the quiet beach away from the crowds and the relaxing atmosphere of this location. The owners were very communicative and responded quickly to our questions. Would definitely stay her again!!
The property was nice enough. The beach was the best part. But the neighborhood wasHorrible. Homeless camps everywhere and homeless people roaming around. It was dirty and uncomfortable. The condoWas on a high floor so the AC was constantly running but it never cooled down even with fans going 24/7. Kind of felt scammed
We absolutely loved this place! The beach is semi private and amazing! We snorkeled and swam. There are turtles constantly swimming around. The views are stunning. The amenities were great. Beach chairs, snorkels, plenty of towels. My girls loved the place as well. We definitely will he back!
What a beautiful place to stay and only a short drive from the overcrowded Honolulu area beaches. Absolutely will book again and recommend anyone that wants a locals perspective, stay at the Hawaiian Princess
Husband/wife with 5 month old girl. We were blown away the moment we opened the door and saw the view from the balcony! We preferred our stay here to the expensive Ko Olina resort we came from. All the amenities we could need were available. When we return to Oahu, there is no other place we would rather stay
We wanted avoid all the touristy hype in Oahu and feel the local vibe and relaxing vacation. Makaha checked all those boxes for us. Property is located in a convenient location for everything. Stunning beach and well maintained property further uplifted our experience.
Wanted to stay away from city. Beautiful condo on west coast. Amazing quiet beach. Beautiful sunsets Host provided beach chairs and towels. Wonderful wonderful stay 10/10!!!
This place was perfect for our stay! We wanted to spend part of our trip away from Waikiki and the city hustle, in a quieter setting with the beach right at our doorstep—and this condo absolutely delivered.Being on the 12th floor, the unit offered stunning panoramic views, gorgeous sunsets, and a refreshing breeze. The beach just below was ideal for swimming and boogie boarding, and the condo came fully stocked with all the beach essentials—chairs, boogie boards, and even a sunshade.Inside, the condo had everything we could possibly need, making it feel like a home away from home. The complex itself was a bonus, featuring gas grills, a pickleball court, a pool, and a game room—all of which we enjoyed during our stay.As other reviews have noted, there are some homeless individuals in the surrounding area. That said, the property is secure with gated access and on-site security, and we never felt unsafe—even during long runs through the neighborhood.Overall, it was a great place to stay—peaceful, convenient, and very comfortable. We highly recommend it!
The apartment had the best view! We could see sea turtles while eating on the deck. Great beach, snorkeling and breathtaking sunsets. Everything was as advertised. If your vacation plans are hanging by the beach and pool this is the place for you. It is a long drive with a lot of traffic for any sites or excursions. We don’t mind driving so that was not an issue for us. The surrounding neighborhood feels poor with lots of poverty present. However, the resort is gated and we did feel secure.
Another great stay at Hawaiian Princess! This was our first time in this unit, and it was wonderful. The beach chairs, towels, and snorkeling gear were much appreciated. We love this part of the island and will be putting this unit at the top of our list for our next trip to Makaha.
I have stayed here many, many times in the past ! That says it all !
My family of 4 stayed for a week while visiting friends who live in Makaha. The condo is a super comfy place to stay. The kitchen had everything we needed and the beach stuff we wanted was all there. The breeze through the unit is great and we were perfectly comfortable all day and night. All of the views are incredible. Makaha is not touristy and the beach right there is quiet. Watch for the waves though, because there is a pretty hard shore break and it'll getcha if you're not prepared. Great to sit and watch for My kids are bigger (9 &13) and we were ok, but for younger kids Pokai bay down the road is probably a better fit, or the pool!Don't miss Aki's beach. The sea turtles come every afternoon to nap on the sand. The hike to Ka'ena at the northern end of the road is pretty, but exposed and hot so go early. There's hawaiian monk seals and albatross at the end. Groceries at Tamura's are expensive. Hit costco, Safeway, walmart or foodland in Kapolei on your way up. Makaha is not a destination for foodies who want to eat out somewhere new everyday. The farmers market in Waianae is great though, for fresh fruits and veggies. Saturday from 9 to 12. I'll mention the houseless people camped around because they're in many of the reviews for the area. The beach is clean and safe, the parking and building is secure, and their presence wasn't an issue at all at the location we stayed. Like anywhere , make sure you're careful with your valubles and don't leave them in
Beautiful condo. But that view...amazing! Beautiful private beach. Area is fine. Pool and hottub nice. Bbq area nice. Staff very helpful
Got to see humpback whales and some shark fins from the balcony. The beach and pool were perfect, everything was perfect. Hidden gem!
The lanai gives a 180 view of your semi private beach. We saw turtles daily as well as whales . Room was well stocked.
Great place with everything as described in the listing plus lots of extra little bonuses. Faces a lovely soft sand beach that was never crowded. Building is older but in good shape. Seems to have a mix of permanent residents and short term rentals with everyone very friendly. Can walk to longs (drug store) and magic mountain shave ice although not a beautiful walk. Tamura supermarket maybe a 10 minute drive has reasonable selection although not the fanciestEverything in the apartment is in great condition. Good sized table and 4 chairs on the lanai so we ate every meal out there. Plenty of high quality beach towels, regular towels. 3 quality beach chairs and a beach umbrella plus lots of kids beach stuff under the bench on the lanai. Small cooler as well. Kitchen far better equipped than average rental with plenty of tableware, cooking supplies, even storage containers.Great communication with Sweti
We arrived at the unit and check in was easy and stress free. Both of us were blown away with how clean, modern and fully stocked space was. We had a comfortable and enjoyable week there. We really enjoyed going down to the beach at sunset and visiting with the other residents at the BBQ. The hosts thought of providing everything we might need including beach chairs, umbrella, snorkel gear, big ice chest, kids sand toys (if needed) and the kitchen had absolutely everything needed to cook, incl air fryer and Instant Pot!We saw many whales out on the horizon with the provided good quality binoculars. We will definetly be back again.
The place was clean and modern. It has everything you needed . Check in was easy, beautiful view from the balcony. I was disappointed that the bed room was in the back not by the balcony but it was not the problem because we can still hearing the waves all night long. The only down sides for us was it was very far from all vegan restaurants For my husband and the neighborhood before the condo was a lot of homeless. But don’t worry the beach by the condo was kind of private. So there is no homeless all over the beach like the other beaches .the beach is very beautiful and not very much people on the beach . We hanged out by the beach and felt like we got the whole beach to ourselves but the the waves is very strong if you are not a good swimmer like me , don’t try to be in the water . I saw some people tried to go in the water and they got swept under the waves several times. Overall the condo itself was fantastic and the view from the balcony was hard to beat .
We stayed 3 nights prior to our cruise leaving from Honolulu. Very pleased with the amenities and condo was comfortable and clean. Would stay again. Location was away from the traffic and crowds, which is what we wanted.
The apartment was exactly like the listing images, clean and had absolutely everything we needed throughout our trip to feel at home. Beautiful views from the lanai and a nice beach right outside the property that was never busy compared to other beaches. For even more scenic beaches Makua Beach 5 minutes away is spectacular. I will say that if you’re looking to explore the entire island throughout your trip this location is a bit far away from the rest of the island destinations (1-1.5hrs from the eastern coast), and there were not many sit down restaurants available nearby. However, if looking for a relaxing beach vacation with a few trips to other areas mixed in, it is the perfect location not being too busy. The full sized kitchen was also perfect for cooking your own meals, which also works out with Hawaii’s high prices. Overall I would definitely recommend this condo with the previously mentioned caveat in mind.
Nice building, older but well kept. Great beach with nice beach equipment available in the unit. Unit was as described. Area is a bit out of the way and neighborhood is a bit run down but on site security and fencing made us feel safe Great option for those who would like to get away from big crowds and enjoy beach with less people around.
This place was off the normal area we had been used to. No big waikiki crowds or beachs with no room to move. This place offered the good sized condo with an amazing view along with supplies for your every need at a fair price. My familly and I enjoyed what this stay had to offer.
