We had a fantastic family reunion at this wonderful home, accommodating ages ranging from 74 to 6. The adults thoroughly enjoyed the breathtaking sunsets, while the kids had a blast in the pool. Everyone loved the convenience of being able to walk to the beach right from the house.
Since it was the first time for most of the family to visit Oahu, they were absolutely delighted to spot sea turtles from the balcony and encounter them at the nearby beaches. The sunsets were truly mesmerizing, and we made it a point to gather every evening to appreciate their beauty. Needless to say, we captured countless Instagram-worthy sunset photos and even created some stunning time lapse videos.
Thanks Yong! Hope to make it back someday
Ocean waves lapping on the shore 24/7. Sea turtle and whale sightings every day. Perfect sized pool for our grandkids ages 4-11. Rooftop deck great for viewing nighttime stars. Plenty of parking spaces. Incredible sunsets. Master bedroom has sliding glass door onto deck and ocean. We loved every minute of our stay.
It was all that we could have hoped for and more. The home was spacious and inviting and the beautiful ocean views were spectacular. The kids loved the pool and the hot tub and our hist Yong was amazing. We were greeted with a traditional Hawaiian welcome that put the icing on the cake. We all hated to leave this beautiful piece of Paradise.q
We loved loved loved our stay! The house and hosts/property manager were amazing. The pictures do not do it justice. We had plenty of space, plenty of amenities, and would definitely stay again. We loved the public beach close by. The only reason I do not give this property a perfect score is because of the location on the island. We felt safe in the house and going to beach however it is a must to lock all doors ..the surrounding area leading up to property is definitely sketchy. We have never been to Oahu so I was told the actual entire island you have to be super careful as there is A LOT of theft.. this area particular. We were told multiple times by multiple people the area around is not the greatest. The house is covered in security features and we had no issues but if you are not comfortable with driving or staying in a questionable area..this part of the island may not be for you. I myself felt the host exceeded in trying to make the house feel safe so I would stay here again..but we definitely had a lot of conversations with our kids regarding safety and different life styles which at the end of the day is not a bad thing..it was just unexpected. This location is about an hour away from anything touristy….which is good and bad. We just had to plan everything around that. Overall..looking back at our stay..I preferred that anyways.
Makaha Beach house was exceptional! Our multi generation family was able to spread out and fit comfortably. The children thoroughly enjoyed the pools and the grounds of the house. The views are amazing! We saw turtles, whales, seals, so many interesting things. The location is a bit far from popular tourist spot but it wasn’t as big of deal because we enjoyed seeing the local life and getting to know the locals. Definitely hope to have the opportunity to stay here again. John and Yong were available whenever we needed them and super responsively with everything. Daryl was also very helpful! Thank you for making our dream vacation possible!
The pictures tell it all. House was incredible, perfect for our large family vacation ages ranging from 17-80, 11 of us total. We did not want to leave. It is large enough for everyone to spread out for the occasional much needed alone time, but capable for everyone to be together, too. Mari is the most gracious hostess, answered all our questions promptly during our 1.5 year planning stage and all the way to the end of our stay. We would definitely recommend! Thank you, Mari!!
This property has an amazing local vibe. it is a 5 minute walk from a cove where turtles swim and you can watch the sun set. It is centrally located so you can drive to the sights and Honolulu and the North shore in less than an hour. it is close to boat excursions, Disney, and some amazing beaches. Makua beach is a hidden gem , 4 miles away and not crowded.
There is everything you need at the house for beach trips and a well stocked kitchen. The house is every bit as beautiful as the pictures show. The bedding is hotel quality and the rooms big and light. There were 12 of us and after a big family breakfast we would take separate day trips, meeting back at the house for time in the pool and to sit on the deck and enjoy the ocean and sunset. We all went to Germaine's luau, less than 25 minute drive and well worth it. Great house, Great trip!
After planning our trip for 4 years and having to put it off each year for one reason or another (including COVID), fifteen members of my family stayed in a perfect house to make my 70th birthday dream come true. The house is large enough for every family to have its own space, somewhat isolated from the other families. We were able to meet for meals and games with children but have privacy when we wanted it.
The outdoor areas are delightful--the long upper porch and the pool patio were our favorite places to hang out at meals.
Don't let the map frighten you away. True, the location is a little far from North Shore and from Honolulu, but the drive wasn't bad, and we were always glad to get back to the gorgeous house, which felt like home from the minute we first entered.
The host is wonderful--so helpful and friendly. The trip was a long time coming, but she was with us to patiently answer all our questions through all the plans that had to be canceled, changed, and rearranged. Stay here and your Hawaii dreams can come true, too!
We have used VRBO since its inception in 1995 This property is without a doubt the best property, location, and host we have ever experienced. We split up our week with island excursions including swimming with dolphins and turtles, parasailing, outrigger canoe surfing, Kualoa Ranch (Jurassic Park), Oahu's North Shore, and Waikiki, and my family totally agreed that the complete days we spent at this house were the best days of our trip. To be able to relax in the pool and surrounding decks was incredible. Mari, the host made certain everything was perfect for our visit. We spoke via text with any question we may have had concerning local restaurants, food shopping, etc., and she was spot on with her answers, she was very prompt with her replies. If you are planning a trip to Oahu, this property needs to be at the top of your list. However, be patient as it is booked out for some time to come but trust me, it is worth the wait.
We loved this house which perfectly fit our multigenerational family. It was spacious, well stocked, and well maintained. Mari is wonderful! She is super helpful, a great communicator, and responds quickly to questions or problems. We loved the backyard pool and jetted tub. We enjoyed lounging on the pool chaises in complete privacy as the property is nicely gated. We ate dinner outside every night in order to observe the gorgeous sunsets and hear ocean waves crashing against the rocks. Our family enjoyed this little slice of heaven in a local neighborhood. We took long walks around the area, visited Turtle beach, and explored other local beaches. We visited nearby Kahumana Farms twice for their farmers market and farm-to-table experience. We were looking for a spacious home where our family could reconnect after a year apart and also enjoy the beauty of our surroundings. Mari's Makaha home fit the bill perfectly! Can't wait to return! Thank you for everything, Mari!
