The property was as described, comfortably furnished with cooling breezes and a relaxing view of the ocean from the patio, and an excellent location with a short walk to the local park on the coast. The hosts are welcoming and friendly with an excellent response time and availability. We would definitely recommend staying at this property and will reach out to Manfred and Elfie if we look to vacation in Pahoa again.
My wife I stayed here for a week in February. Our hosts, Manfred and Elfie, were the best! They met us at the bungalow and made sure we were happy with our rental. They made us feel at home and gave us the benefit thier many years of experience living on the island. The bungalow was cozy and comfortable, located in a quiet neighborhood in Pahoa with a beautiful view of the ocean and a short stroll to ocean cliffs. This is the place to stay on the east side of the island if you want to experience lush rainforests, waterfalls, ocean cliffs and Vulcanos National Park. I highly recommend this place! island
We have family living just a couple blocks away so this is the perfect site for us. If you are going to be staying on the Hilo side for a few days and want to really get a feel for what it's like, give this spot a try. The botanic gardens, rainbow falls and the Sunday Pahoa farmers market are all 'must see' IMO.
We got upgraded to the suite upstairs because the bungalow was being renovated. Wow what a fantastic upgrade :) Elfie and Manfred were the perfect hosts and their place was absolutely gorgeous with great views, undisturbed tranquility and great access to both Hilo and the Volcanoes national park. Clean, bright and beautiful place to be away from everything and still not too far away.

The owners were amazing they came and checked on us daily offer to give us any information we may need about the area. Saw whale sitting on the deck. Brow was beautiful!! Great place to just relax and not have busy streets etc.
We were greeted as soon as we arrived which made for clear instructions and communication. There isn't AC, but every single window and door has screens in it, so there is a beautiful breeze flowing through the whole bungalow. You can see the ocean from pretty much every room. We did not have good cell phone service, but that added to the experience for me. ;) We enjoyed cooking and sitting on the patio the most. Pahoa is a gem of a town. I look forward to the next time we can stay.

The property is perfect for one or two people. I was able to visit Pahoa and grocery shop like one of the locals. I enjoyed the quiet neighborhood and was able to visit most of the East side of the Island, which included the volcanos. The owners were always available when I had questions but were obscure otherwise. A very pleasant experience.

My fiance and I enjoyed our stay in the bungalow. The beach was a short walk and the views of the sunrises from the lani was amazing . Elfie and Manfred were wonderful host and we would diffiinately stay here again.

Our stay here was amazing! We had easy access to so many fun places to visit including waterfalls, volcanos national park, beaches and more. Elfie was there to greet us and show us around. They were available to answer questions and help us navigate the island. They were the perfect hosts.
My partner and I escaped here during dreary wintertime in the Pacific Northwest. We spent a lot of time admiring the view from the beautiful garden.
We used the washer and dryer multiple times. Great to be able to do laundry!
We were glad we had a rental car. Lots of cool things to see but not all accessible by public transit. However the city bus did stop in front of the property daily, so definitely an option if needed.
Elfie and Manfred were lovely and easy to get ahold of when needed. Really hoping to stay in touch with them!
The Bungalow has everything one, or a couple, would need for a relaxing stay. It is a little bit away from many of the sites, but if you are not in a rush, this is a great place.
Clean and a short walk to the ocean
The place was perfect for us. Kahakai park is just a very short walk away and has breathtaking views of the ocean. There was so much to see on the east side of the island and so much of it is very close. The government beach road that is only a few blocks away is a great scenic drive I highly recommend.
As for the bungalow it had everything we needed and Elfie was super helpful. They also stocked it with plenty of cookware, coolers and thermos we used on our hikes, and more.
A vacation we will not soon forget, the Big Island is amazing.
Elfie & Manfred were amazing hosts who went above and beyond to make sure my girlfriend and I were comfortable. They were very quick to reply to issues we had (which was only 1 - we were too jet lagged to figure out that you have to pull the bottom of the faucet to get the shower head to turn on LOL). The property is in a great location, right off the main road with easy access to the small town of Pahoa. An unobstructed ocean view from the Lanai was our favorite little charm of this place. The lanai offers a perfect, shaded oasis to hang out and eat breakfast in the morning or finish the night with a cocktail. The small kitchen is perfect for a couple, and came stocked with plenty of cooking utensils, a blender, and a coffee maker. The place does not have air conditioning, but it only took a night to get used to for sleeping, as did the coqui frogs that make noise all night. We grew to love the sounds of all the critters that hang out in the beautiful garden in the front of the house (birds, frogs, and our favorites - gheckos). Overall, an amazing stay, and will 100% stay again if we vacation on Big Island in the future.
