**The condo is already booked 50% in 2025. I've HEAVILY discounted some dates in 2025. **
**The condo complex is doing an elevator modernization project from roughly 3/31/2025 to 6/30/25. The elevator will not be usable during this time but a BELLHOP WILL BE onsite to help with your luggage and groceries. He will be available Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 8am -12pm and 3pm to 7pm. Message me for more info. ,Honokowai, Kahana, Napili, Kapalau) were unaffected by the fires. The Old Lahaina Town is closed but the rest of West Maui including the beaches, shops, grocers and restaurants are all OPEN. Locals and businesses (and we vacation rental owners) are all appreciative of your business. ) are DIRT CHEAP. **
** Hale Ono Loa condos DO NOT have AC. **
** In 2023, the condo was updated with en trend light grey paint and white trim, new white drapes, new lighting in the dining area and kitchen, new/modern coffee table, modern end tables and bedside tables, new fresh white bedside lamps, new side chair, new accessories, new patio table and 2 Adirondack style chair on the lanai. Direct and expansive ocean views, a full view of the island of Lana'i, all the colors of the ocean, spectacular sunsets, beautiful swaying palm trees, views up and down the coastline and reef-surfing sea turtles are just a few of the daily sights you'll enjoy from this top floor, oceanfront condo located just past the resort community of Ka'anapali. Situated on the ocean side of Lower Honoapiilani Road, and just three units in from the shoreline, you will fall asleep and wake up to the soothing sounds of the ocean. You'll love the cool trade winds blowing right through the unit.
This renovated condo features an 18 foot balcony (aka lanai) overlooking the ocean, a full kitchen with custom sapele wood cabinetry, granite counter tops, an under mount sink, all stainless appliances, travertine marble tile floors throughout and Hawaii style furnishings. The chic, gut renovated bathroom has a custom sapele wood vanity, a granite counter top with an under mount sink, easy-to-step-in shower and ample storage. Clever pocket, sliding, louvered doors between the bedroom (with a king sized bed) and living area can be left open to feel the trade winds or closed for maximum privacy. ) furniture.
Though it may not seem like it, being on the top floor (level four), makes a difference view-wise and trade wind-wise. Other units on lower floors don't compare to HaleOnoLoa407.
Between roughly November and April from the private lanai or the communal sundeck, you will be treated to a spectacular sight of the annual humpback whale migration. These awesome creatures come to Maui from Alaska every year to give birth and one of their favorite locations to do so is right out front of the condo complex in the wide channel between West Maui and the islands of Lana'i and Moloka'i. In the peak months of January to March it's not uncommon to spot dozens of whales blowing and breaching directly from the lanai.
Hale Ono Loa is a mid-century, low-rise condo complex that underwent a complete exterior renovation in 2010. Guests are able to enjoy a shared pool surrounded by tall palm trees and beautiful tropical gardens filled with fragrant colorful blooms all year long, direct access to the ocean, and two sundecks one at the pool level and the other alongside the ocean . Each guest can park one car in the onsite parking lot. There are shared gas BBQ grills and a shuffle board court. Each condo is privately owned and independently rented. The ownership is a mix of folks who rent out their places full or part time and some who live there full time. It's a peaceful, more laid back alternative to the large 'resort' complexes but still conveniently located to everything.
, and not in the building that runs parallel. The bedroom windows of the units in the building that run parallel (unit numbers ending in '10' through '17') all face towards Honoapiilani Rd. and the parking lot of the complex. In those units you will hear cars zooming by and car doors opening/closing day and night. The units in the perpendicular building (unit numbers ending in '01' through '09'), and especially units closer to the water, like 407, do not have road or parking lot noise. You'll only hear the ocean and the swaying palm trees. There is no AC in this unit or any unit at the Hale Ono Loa condos. The added advantage of being in the perpendicular building, and especially on the top floor like #407, is direction the units face. The orientation of these units give you optimal trade winds blowing straight through compared to the units in the parallel building. This unit was gut renovated. Many of the units in the Hale Ono Loa complex have not been renovated.
Note 2: There is NO AC in this unit or any unit in the two main buildings at the Hale Ono Loa. There is a strong ceiling fan in the bedroom and an extra floor fan. If you are sensitive to humidity and heat, this MAY NOT be the best complex for you. Please feel free to message me any questions before booking.
Note 3: The pool is open from 9am to 10pm daily. Depths range from 3' to 9'. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. THERE IS NO LIFE GUARD. You swim at your own risk.
Note 4: Fast, stable WiFi is included. The provider is Spectrum. 3 Mbps
Note 5: There is onsite communal use, coin (and an app) operated laundry onsite (on 2nd and 3rd floors). Bring quarters, laundry pods/detergent and dryer sheets. I've used them and they work great.
Note 6: This isn’t a 5 star resort. It’s a condo that I do my very best to maintain. While I can’t guarantee issues won’t come up during your stay, I can assure you that I will do my best to address anything that does. Mahalo for understanding.
Note 7: The Hale Ono Loa complex is composed of all privately owned condo units. Some folks live there full time and the rest, like me, use these as 2nd homes and rent them out when we aren't there. It's a relaxed, laid back, quiet complex away from the crowds of Ka'anapali and Lahaina Town.
Note 8: Check out is 11:00AM. I unfortunately cannot accommodate late check outs since my cleaning crew needs the day to prepare the condo for the next guests. If your flight is later in the day/evening and you want to check out late, please add one more night to your stay to be able to check out late on your departure day. Mahalo!

Steve was absolutely fantastic! The property was clean, had extras for snorkeling, chairs, towels, sheets, and pillows! When Steve mentions that he is a text message away he means it. We will absolutely stay with Steve on our next trip to the Island!!

Loved this place! Perfect for your trip to Maui. Great place with a beautiful view. Near food and shopping, beaches too! Saw whales from the balcony multiple times during our stay. The sunsets were the best! Was worried we wouldn’t be welcome as Vrboers but every neighbor and person that we met was kind and friendly. Great communication with the owner. Will be back! Highly recommend

My wife was the artist in residence at the Sheraton on New Year's Eve, so rather than drive all the way back to Haiku that night we decided to spend the night and make it a mini staycation. The condo was great with great views of the ocean. Steve (the owner) had excellent communication with us. We would happily stay there again.

Property was wonderful and quiet. Check-in process very easy. The sound of the waves was perfection. There is no beach access. That was not a problem for us. We are not sun bathers and the property has a beautiful pool and lots of amenities including a viewing deck and grills. Centrally located to walking trails up the road and beach state parks in both directions.

We had a most fabulously relaxing two weeks. Communication and check in were easy peasy. The condo was set up to "Welcome Friends". So many lovely touches. Our every need was anticipated. Charming, delightful, comfortable, "HOME". Hoping it's available for our next time on Maui.

Beautiful ocean view, you can hear the waves crashing behind you. A nice deck, pool access, and even some gear in the room! Would highly recommend. Also, for Sabbath observers, it is possible to turn the fridge lights off.

The apartment was more like a huge studio with the master bedroom closed off by a sliding door. the location of the unit lets you hear the ocean from all sides. The views are incredible, the location is quiet (except for the sound of crashing waves), nearby beaches were great. The condo is well equipped with beach gear, and the kitchen very well outfitted. Steve was extremely responsive and had great recommendations. Only suggestion I have is that if someone in your group is planning to use the pull-out sofa bed, make sure you confirm there will be sheets for it when you check in. We had to have some delivered but again, Steve was on top of it and it was quickly resolved. Definitely would stay again.

We only scheduled four days in Maui and we regret not spending more time. Part of the reason are the many areas to visit on the island, but also because of this excellent condo.
The property was clean and located close to many beaches and activities. The views at sunset were amazing from the lanai and the tradewinds made the nights very comfortable and relaxing.
The property has many displaced Lahania residents living on property as well. This was great as we learned so much about the before, during and after of the devastating fire. Great conversation and excellent suggestoins on where to go for local food and how to avoid overcrowded tourist spots. Best part was a local resident who blew a conch shell each night at sunset and spoke an Hawaiian prayer. A cool experience.
Highly recommend this condo for rental. The description and pictures are very accurate and the communication with Steve has been the best I've experienced in renting condos through VRBO.

Steve has a wonderful condo on the waterfront in Maui
We absolutely loved it
Close to the things we love ❤️
Steve was an incredible host with information and a detailed guide with so many suggestions !
The bed was so comfortable the view was just spectacular and we felt so blessed to have found it ! Great little jazz bar in walking distance and local shops were very accessible! Falling asleep with the crashing of the waves was so lovely and we saw turtles right out the front where you can swim ⭐️thanks Steve and we will be back one day ! Mahola ❤️

The room was very clean and pleasant for a two-week stay. The elevator was supposed to be shut down for maintenance during our stay, but thankfully that was delayed for a later time. I could not imagine humping heavy suitcases and groceries up the three flights of steep stairs. Luggage carts are available, but they would be useless without an elevator. There was an issue with the sliding screen door sticking to the point it was frozen and would not move. We were able to get it closed, but it was a major job to go in and out without wrestling with it. Steve (owner) sent someone to take a look at it, but he was unable to fix it. Apparently Steve has arranged for its repair at some point in the future. The complex is old but well-maintained and pleasant. There are no umbrellas (probably because of the wind), so we didn't spend any time around the pool. Snorkeling sounds like a fun activity, but find a more suitable sandy beach for your watersports. We attempted swimming/snorkeling at the foot of the stairs below the property, but it was a big mistake. The surf is pretty heavy and the waves will throw you all over the reefs. I would have attached a picture of the injuries to my arm and knee, but it's pretty disgusting. The lesson is, at my age it's probably time to hang up the snorkel gear. Overall it was a really good stay. The absence of air conditioning was not really a problem because of the nice breeze and ocean exposure. We would stay here again.

Steve was wonderful from start to finish Couldn’t have asked for a better location. So close to everything. Walking distance to great food options from local popular restaurants to great food trucks. Even at nice park just down the road with beach access. The pool and grounds were so relaxing and the unit was very nice and relaxing.

Honestly, this place is paradise. From the moment we walked through the door, we felt relaxed and knew we booked the right place. The condo is extremely clean and furnished beautifully (with updated furniture vs. what's in the listing photos). And there's no need to worry about the lack of AC, as the trade winds (when you have the balcony open with the screen doors + windows opened above the bed) very quickly cool down the condo and ensure great airflow. You literally fall asleep to the sounds of the crashing waves - it's heaven. And during the day can go down the ocean steps and swim in the bay right outside of the complex with sea turtles not too far off! Also, it's about a 10 minute walk to a supermarket with fresh supplies, an ABC store, and a massage spa (which I highly recommend). Will definitely be back. Thank you Steve for such a perfect stay!

This place was the perfect spot for us. As stated in the description, it is not a 5 star resort. But what it is, is a great condo in a fantanstic location, with amazing views, where you can feel at home. Oh, and turtle sightings from the deck!! The owner gets super kudos for responsiveness and making sure that you have everything you need. In short, we loved our stay here and would recommend it to others who are looking for this kind of experience.

My husband and I got married in 2020 we never got to do a honeymoon but my father gifted us to go to Maui to experience our honeymoon and we chose this place to stay which I loved so homey and to wake up to the ocean right outside of our balcony was amazing
