Amazing property. Host was very easy to work with. We hardly left the home because it was so beautiful and so peaceful. Majestic view of the Mokuluas. We will come again soon.

This property is in a perfect location. With it's own gentle beach it is perfect for little ones and for the rest who want to SUP, Kayak or snorkel. The views from the house are stunning. The kitchen is well equipped if you want to cook. Gina responds quickly and is very helpful. Perfect place to soak up the aloha!
This is the 2nd time we have stayed in this group of houses. Gina is an outstanding, responsive host. This location is unmatched with the exclusive beach and gorgeous views. While the weather wasn’t great, the ocean breezes and view will continue to give us memories for a lifetime.

After much research we chose Hale Kolea for our once-every-three year family trip to Hawaii. Our extended family group of adults and teens loved the house and the location. The view of the Mokulua’s is breathtaking! There is wonderful communal space, but also space for all to spread out and have their own quiet time. Each bedroom —except one— had a private bath and lanai. There are two kitchens and an extra refrigerator in the 2-car garage - which is very helpful with a full household. There two sets of washer/dryers and detergent supplies are provided. For those individuals who might expect everything to be brand new (not us by a long shot) may find parts of the late 1980’s house reflective of that period. Everything worked great for us! Gina is in the process of updating bathrooms (ours in the main floor master bedroom had a lovely modern double shower and soaking tub).
The house being on the hillside requires walking down a relatively long and steep flight of stairs to “our beach” which is fine for most but might be an issue for anyone with knee or hip issues. Being within a gated area the gentle sandy beach had a nearly private feel. We were delighted to see sea turtles swimming every day in the tranquil crystal clear azure waters close to the shoreline. Gina was a most gracious host. She offered to assist us with recreational activities, grocery shopping and entertainment opportunities. Gina did everything possible to make our stay happy and memorable. Our next family trip to Lanikai will most certainly be at Hale Kolea! Mahalo Gina!

I spent a week here celebrating my 50th birthday with four close friends. It was ideal. Sitting or dining outside to mind-boggling views was blissful. Five of the rooms had their own dedicated bathrooms. The kitchen was large and well supplied and we wound up cooking more than I'd thought we would. The small beach below the house is shared with a small number of homes and was largely empty whenever we went.
There are things to be aware of. The home is situated on a steep hillside, so the bedrooms are split across three floors. Additionally, the walk to the beach is down a flight of steep stairs. So this it not the house for anyone mobility impaired or injured. The hot tub on the deck gets quite toasty, but can't really fit more than three full-sized males comfortably. Finally, the house has it's fair share of light switches that seemingly do nothing, but I've found that in other houses in Hawaii.
My primary complaint was with the shower in the primary room. The floor appeared kind of gross and seemed to be peeling. Sure enough, during my first shower, I noticed a quarter-sized piece of "paint" floating to the drain. From what I could figure out, I think someone decided to paint the floor with a type of rubberized paint rather than replacing it. While functional, that entire bathroom could stand to be remodeled.
So aside from a few caveats and minor issues, the house is an ideal place to have a gathering of adults.
My wife and two boys (ages 18,21) along with my Sister, her husband and their 3 kids (ages 18,21,23) enjoyed an amazing week at this incredible escape.

This is a wonderful house for large tor families. The location and the views are fantastic. The property manager is very responsive and helpful. The bathrooms are a bit dated. Overall had a good experience with the property.
We were so pleased with this property and our stay there, I wanted to send on behalf of our group a huge Mahalo to Gina and everyone who works to provide such nice accommodations at Hale Kolea. There is nothing that can beat the gorgeous view of the ocean from house and the lush, peaceful surroundings -- I will always have fond memories of our vacation and falling asleep listening to the waves hit the beach. The beach just down the stairs from the house was practically all our own. There's also a quiet grassy area next to the beach entrance to practice meditation, yoga or to just lay around. The only important note that I wanted to add was that the 6th bedroom is more like a servant's quarters - it did not have its own view of the ocean, access to the balcony, en suite bathroom or a t.v. like the others. Just wanted to share in case there are six adults or couples expecting to have similar bedroom accommodations.
This house was amazing! We had 6 couples & 1 child. The rooms and views were amazing and each room having it's own bathroom was a plus. The beach was a blast. Gina thought of everything and the family agreed the house & private beach made our vacation and we will be back!
