Absolutely love the place. It is close to the beach. And town is about 10 minutes away. The place was very clean and had all the items necessary for comfortable stay.

We enjoyed the condo. It was well appointed with the appliances. The furniture was quite comfortable and the beds were very nice with quality bedding. The ceiling fan would not work without the sconce light on in the guest room so this was hard in a place with no air conditioning. The oscillating standup fan would not adjust in the same room but we made it work. Overall, I recommend this rental but the ceiling fan issue is not acceptable.
We had a fab time. Jack the rooster made sure we woke daily at 6am. A the manager made sure we were safe in our first ever tsunami evacuation. The snorkeling with the turtles in the "back yard" was the cherry on top!
Clean, cozy, and great location.
The condo itself was cozy, clean, and very secure. Despite no a/c, tge breeze from the ocean and ceiling fans kept us very comfortable. The pool was nice as well, and laundry room steps from the unit. The location was great as well, less than 10 minutes from Hilo airport and town. I would recommend this to anyone staying on this side of the island.

Our stay was great. It was walking distance to this park that had these gorgeous lagoons for swimming. The condo was clean and comfortable, and the pool was great.
Steps from Carlsmith and everything you need for an amazing vacation. Home away from home only better. Location is central to everything in Hilo and points North and South. I loved every minute of my stay and will definitely return.

We had a wonderful time staying at the condo. Clean, comfortable, and staff that goes out of their way to help. And Carlsmith Beach Park... spectacular! The only thing I would have liked is A/C (which none of the condos in the area have), but it wasn't a sticking point. Pun intended.
Clean, comfortable and beautiful
The unit is lovely and well decorated and furnished. Everything we could want for beach excursions was here from chairs to tote bags. Snorkel and mask too. Great stay! We'll be back!
My husband and I stayed in this condo for 9 days and enjoyed every minute. First of all, Salt Water Vacations staff were wonderful. We had a local liaison introduce herself and was present for any concerns we might have had. They bent over backwards to make our stay comfortable. The condo was very comfortable and inviting. The bed in the main bedroom was so comfortable. Kitchen well stocked. We met many wonderful people there at Mauna Loa Shores. Big shout out to Mr. Gomez, the building supervisor. Extremely helpful. I enjoyed the pool every day and the best part of the day was swimming in the lagoons of Carl Smith park. Right behind the building. Turtles!! beautiful. Will for certain return.
Cute 2 bedroom next to the best beach on the Hilo side. Close to things with a vehicle or use the bus stop right outside the building. Pool does have limited times, and it’s not lit.
Hale Honu Steps from the Ocean at Maunaloa Shores Condo in Hilo review. The room booking was easy, and the management company was very responsive before and during our stay. The Condo is well-kept and clean. We had a wonderful time during our stay. This place is right next to Carlsmith Beach Park. I loved getting up in the morning and listening to the birds. At night, I like listening to the coquí frogs. They grow on you. Right behind the building is a dense forest to the right and the beach park to the left. You can go swimming or snorkeling in the ocean very close to the building. Rinse off in the shower and then hit the facility pool. We plan on coming back. It is not too far from downtown Hilo, and the Hilo Airport is very close. Thank you for letting us stay. Mahalo Nui Loa.
We stay on this property pretty much every time we go to Hilo. Super easy check in and out. Loved have the beach amenities! Super close walk to 4 mile which is easily one of the best beaches on the Hilo side!
Thank you for providing access to your home for vacation. The rental was clean and comfortable. We were very close to beautiful parks and the ocean. The lanai was large enough for all 4 adults in our party to enjoy together with a lovely view of the grounds and peaks of the water. We spent time in old Hilo as well as the nearby falls. Easy access to all. Thank you again
Comfortable and convenient location. The building is older which might throw some people off, but the condo itself was renovated well and we had no complaints.The jungle view is very nice.

The room was well furnished, clean, everything worked and we had a view of the pool and the bay. The washing machines were being replaced so we didn't have a place to wash clothes.
Loved our stay! We chose this property based on its proximity to Richardson Beach and it did not disappoint. The unit had everything we needed - even a cooler bag for a day trip to Kilauea. We felt comfy and very much at home. Really loved the artwork! The building itself is showing its age, but the unit is very much up to date. We enjoyed the rooster next door crowing us awake every morning at just the right time. We'd definitely come back for another stay.good morning

It’s a cute condo, matching the description they list. Very clean with pretty much everything you’ll need. It was super easy to check in. The residents are nice, and the property manager of the complex is the nicest person. Will definitely try to stay here again.
The property is older but it was a great location right next to the beach. It had a damp smell when we first walked in but we opened the windows and door and it went away. The pool looked dirty so we didnt use it but we saw others who swam in it. Having to use a key to open the elevator was a bit irritating when you have your hands full. Also, this is a non smoking property. If you smoke you have to walk out of the parking lot. The unit itself was great, other then it does not have AC. The standup fans were nice to have and we used them everyday. They had everything we needed for the beach, which was wonderful. We used the rafts and the chairs. The air pump was great to have. Thanks for thinking of that! We never used the stove, only the microwave and toaster. Both worked just fine. The water in the shower doesnt get hot, just warm, but with no AC, cool showers were nice. All of the furniture in the unit was comfortable. The beds, couches and chairs, even the balcony chairs were comfortable. There isnt a washer and dryer in the unit but there is one coin washer and dryer on the floor next to the elevator. The closets and dressers have plenty of space. They only have about 8 hangers for use though so if you want to hang things you'll have to go buy hangers. The parking spot is right in front of the unit so you can see your car if you open the door. I loved the screen on the front door. It was nice to let the air flow through the unit when the balcony door was open too.
I chose this property because of location. It's literally on my childhood beach. It's extremely peaceful. Our suite was spacious and our lanai had a gorgeous view of some of the jungle & some ocean view. The coqui frogs get noisy at night but my ear plugs did the trick
Just steps from a fantastic beach, and a short walk to several others. The unit is in a great location, secure, and quite comfortable. The Wi-Fi works well. The kitchen had everything we needed. You can be at grocery stores, restaurants, and farmers' markets within a short drive. I'd stay here again.

I was visiting my childhood beach and some Ohana (family) this suite that sits on the beach is great for everything I needed. Spacious for my daughter & I, clean, great Lanai (patio) the frogs are noisy but I am used to it. Bring ear plugs if you are sensitive. This not fancy, it is practical and the surroundings are the vacation. The pool is a quiet bonus. Our grounds manager is amazing. Laundry is small but I was able to get it done. Needs 2.25 per load in quarters. The wild cats and roosters make it home. Wander across the street to the Seaside restaurant and order the Hamakua mushrooms and a Lychee martini

Perfect location. Beaches within steps that had calm clear water and turtles. Wonderful restaurant within steps that was perfect for our celebrations. Town is within minutes in the car.
This property was a great find for us. The location was a short drive to everything we wanted to see. The unit was clean & comfortable. We had a partial view of the ocean but had great wave sounds! Located right next to Carlsmith Beach was perfect. The beach is a rocky beach, not sand. The only downfall was the unit was missing a toaster. If we ever make it back to Hawaii we would stay here again.
We had a great time and experince at Hale Honu!! The condo was in a great location and just a short drive to anything that we needed. The co do was clean and very well stocked and maintained! Would definitely return for a future stay!!
