The cottage was everything we hoped for and more. The cottage was beautifully decorated with many fresh bouquets of plants and flowers. The garden was enchanting. Gale the Host was thoughtful and kind. She greeted us with homemade applebanana bread, a bowl of fresh homegrown papaya, lemon applebanana, and lime. Gale gave us a tour of the entire property and gracious throughout our stay.
I always wondered what makes a VRBO rental get an excellent score of a perfect 10, and now I know! Gale is an INCREDIBLE hostess and is a treasure trove of knowledge about the island. Our first day she brought us fresh fruit and banana bread, which was quite delicious and so sweet of her. The cottage has everything you would hope to have in a vacation rental and also things you didn't even know you wanted! Seriously, I cannot think of one thing we needed that wasn't provided. It is quiet and serene, the lanai is the perfect way to start the morning, the bath robes for the outdoor shower were amazing, I could go on and on... Everything was clean and well taken care of. We told her that we would recommend her place to anyone we know that is traveling to Hawaii. We hope to return one day! 10 out of 10 would recommend!
We loved our time at the cottage! Gale is an incredible host, the cottage is just as gorgeous as the pictures and immaculate. We loved our morning coffees on the lanai and the lush surrounding gardens.

The cottage was beautiful, very nicely decorated, and well supplied with everything. Gale was a wonderful host, with lots of helpful suggestions and advice, and interesting local lore as well. We loved the location especially - close to Kailua Kona, but out in the country too! The little road the cottage is on was perfect for daily walks.

This property is a true retreat. The house was well beautiful and stocked. It is in such a peaceful location that we felt like we had a secret little private oasis. The property manager was fabulous as well! Would definitely stay here again.
This cottage is one of the best rental properties that we have stayed in. Gale was a fantastic host, quick to respond to messages, detailed at check-in and provided a loaf of amazing banana bread, which was appreciated after a long travel day. The kitchen had everything we could have needed and a great gas grill. The size was perfect for us for nine nights. The early mornings and evenings were cool on the hillside, which quickly cooled down the cottage. Being close to Palani Road/Hawaii Belt allowed us to avoid the Queen K to get into Kona quickly. I would absolutely rent this VRBO again for a future trip to the Big Island.
Perfect place to stay for our trip to the Big Island. Gale has thought of everything you could need and she took the time to share her knowledge of the island and lots of great recommendations with us. And her banana bread was fantastic! I honestly don’t think it could have been any better.

Everything about this cottage was perfect. Gale greeted us and walked us through the property at check in. She was also willing to answer questions about the island and sites throughout our trip. The cottage was great. It had everything we needed (kitchen, bathroom, and beach gear). Mornings and evenings outside enjoying the view were perfect. I can’t wait to come back and stay here! This was a trip we will never forget, and truly showed how above and beyond Gale goes for her guests. Stay here and you will have a luxury resort-level vacation all to yourselves. The cottage, the grounds, the service, the privacy, the location - all of it. It's simply outstanding.
During our stay my partner needed unplanned surgery and I then needed to travel back to CA for 2 of our days there. Not the tropical getaway either of us expected, but it ended up being the most beautiful place to recover and heal, and we left with such a deep appreciation for the cottage and for Gale. She made sure my partner was ok while I was gone, and I never could have made the week work without that. She is an incredible person, as well as someone with impeccable taste in how she has designed and maintained the cottage.
It's our favorite VRBO we've ever stayed in, and we've been active customers since the late 90s. Seriously, you will be surrounded by beauty. It's truly spectacular, and Gale is there if you need her, and you'll never know she's there if you don't. It doesn't get any better than that!

The weather was cool and rainy so the evenings after beach play were comfortable.

This hillside cottage is away from the bustle of Kailua-Kona but only a 5-to-10-minute drive from shopping, coffee and the Airport. We heard nor saw traffic, day or night, but you will hear plenty of nature.
The cottage itself is immaculate, well maintained and has all the required comfort conveniences, coffee makers, microwave, awesome toaster oven, gas cooktop and all dishes and utensils to match.
High speed internet is awesome, and the bed is extremely comfortable.
Gale is a great host, met us late, worked with our departure time and gave us great advice on where to go and what to see.
I highly recommend this as one of the best rentals for 2 on the Big Island!!!
Our stay at this AMAZING guest house was our best VRBO experience ever! When we arrived at the property, Gale, our host, met us and showed us around the property. More than that, Gale offered her vast knowledge of the Big Island like a personal concierge. She took the time to find out what we wanted to do during our one week stay and gave us excellent suggestions for restaurants, sights to see and things to do. The guesthouse is private, nicely appointed and VERY comfortable. The house has outstanding amenities and the area where it is located is absolutely lovely. If the house is available, book it. You won’t regret it!

We stayed 5 nights at The Cottage at Ohia Place and enjoyed every minute. Immaculate gardens dominate this property and gorgeous birds call them home. The stunning cottage with beautiful wood elements captures the natural essence of the island. With unmatched distant ocean vistas, this location makes you want to spend the entire day on the lanai taking it all in, especially the sunsets that are never the same with colors that last for an hour.
Our host had every detail covered and spent time helping us learn about the property and the island. The cottage had every amenity we could wish for indoors and even a second shower outdoors surrounded by private, gorgeous lava rock walls in the garden.
Our stay was beyond wonderful and we'll be back!
