Our spacious remodeled vacation home has amazing ocean, Bali Hai and golf course views and now boasts updated modern bathrooms with Hans Grohe rain showers and fixtures plus a free-standing tub in the master bathroom, state of the art kitchen with Caesarstone counters and Kitchen Aid appliances, all new windows and doors, 8 foot tall sliders leading to the rear lanai, two covered outdoor lanais for dining and unwinding, wall to wall hardwood flooring, wood patio decking, midcentury modern furnishings and an enclosed covered garage. Each room including the lanai is equipped with Big Ass fans, considered the most efficient and quietest fans on the market.
*** Please bear in mind that the trade winds blow so we do not have any air conditioners in the house. If you really need air conditioners, this may not be the house for you - the natural breezes are incredible through the house most of the time. We provide ceiling and floor fans in every room for your use.
Princeville is located just by Hanalei, on the island of Kauai, which is considered by many to be one of the most beautiful places on earth. Its pristine beaches are surrounded by a stunning array of waterfalls and emerald-green cliffs.
Melia Kai is a private home with a sweeping view of the cobalt blue Pacific Ocean and the cascading waterfalls of Namolokama. Located on the Princeville Makai golf course, our house offers the visitor a wonderful opportunity to do just about everything---but it is also a terrific place to do absolutely nothing!
The spectacular views invite you to walk barefoot across the fairway to the edge of a 150-foot cliff (security may ask you to leave so please do not go across before 7 pm after the golfing day is over), where you look down on waves crashing onto the lava rock below. If you watch closely, you will see turtles swimming in the coves beneath you.
You will find that Melia Kai offers the best of two worlds - the luxurious amenities of the Princeville resort area (security patrol, community center, shopping mall and golfing) and the exotic remoteness of Kauai's north shore. One minute you can be sipping a Mai Tai in a crisp summer outfit at the sumptuous One Hanalei Hotel and the next you can be navigating a jungle trail in your bathing suit looking for the waterfall at the head of the Kalihiwai Valley.
Note: Although our home is all on one floor, please note that we have 3 steps with handrails leading up to the front door landing and there is a step down between the entryway/dining area down to the living room area. This home may not work for guests who require handicap access, guests who cannot easily go up and down the step down or guests with small children who may fall easily.

Our stay at this incredible vacation rental was nothing short of magical! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by breathtaking panoramic views of the ocean, visible from nearly every room. Enjoying coffee on the spacious deck in the morning and watching the sunset in the evenings was simply unforgettable.The home itself is impeccably maintained, beautifully decorated, and designed for comfort. The kitchen was one of the best-stocked we've ever experienced in a rental—every tool, gadget, and spice you could need was right at our fingertips, making cooking a delight. Whether we were preparing a bbq feast or simply enjoying a glass of wine with the ocean breeze, we had everything we needed.The hosts have truly thought of every detail, from cozy, high-quality linens to an excellent selection of books and board games for relaxing evenings. The location was perfect—secluded enough to feel like a private retreat, yet close to great restaurants, shops, and beaches.If you're looking for a peaceful, luxurious escape with stunning ocean views and all the comforts of home, this is the place. this house had everything, including excellent decor and comfortable but also beautiful furniture. it had kitchen utensils that are often missing in other rentals, including knives that actually can cut food! and a knife sharpener, to boot. the outdoor space is also comfortable. and we got to watch albatrosses doing their meeting thing. melia kai was perfect.

We rent from VRBO frequently and sometimes the photos don't always align . . . but this Princeville home exceeded our expectations! The location is stunning with views of the golf course, mountains and ocean in a lovely, quiet neighborhood. The home was a PERFECT size for the six of us (4 adults, 2 children). Meg has EVERYTHING you could possibly need in the kitchen, laundry, etc. The home is spotless and obviously well cared for. The hot tub was clean and a lovely respite after a lot of family activity! We HIGHLY recommend this home!!

This is a lovely property with a large living area. A great view from almost every room. The house is a classic mid century design. Well equipped overall making for a comfortable stay. It’s also close to all the beaches and amenities but in a quiet neighborhood. The host was terrific and flexible to accommodate our needs.

This vacation rental is beautiful!
The location is perfect with golf course & ocean views. There is a place to watch the beautiful sunsets just a short walk down the golf course We even saw a beautiful small wedding on hole #7 on Friday late afternoon.
We enjoyed our vacation and will definitely return.

Loved staying here with a group of friends. The guest book gave amazing recommendations, and close to many beaches and restaurants/food trucks. Had an amazing view of sunset and the ocean beyond the golf course. The garage had beach chairs, and there were ample towels/beach towels. Would definitely stay again!

The house was great and in a beautiful location. Only complaint is that it did have a slight musty smell when we first got there.
The checkin process was very involved with waivers that needed to be signed and a request for personal information (name, age, phone number, email, home address) about everyone staying. I wasn't too concerned about giving the information but it was very odd that all of that was required. I called VRBO and they told me that I was required to give this information if the owner requested it or I would have to forfeit the payment. I wasn't happy about it but after contacting the owner they were more lenient and didn't require me to give all of the information.

The location of Princeville to the gorgeous beaches of Hanalei is unbeatable. Keep in mind if you want to adventure around the west shores this is more of a drive.

We absolutely loved our stay at Melia Kai. The home itself is luxurious, spacious, clean. Lots of nice little corners to relax. Perfect location with gorgeous sunsets, amazing bird watching, easy access to the main road.

Loved our stay! We enjoyed the area and bird watching on the back patio. Unfortunately when we were there the golf course was closed and heavy equipment was brought in to renovate the course. Despite that we still loved the view and sunsets. Good space for 4 adults. Meg is very responsive and a great host. No big issues. My family would definitely rent this place again.

We had a great time staying at Melia Kai! The views are gorgeous and most evenings we walked across the golf course to watch the sunset over the ocean. Great walking to Queen's Bath! The house is really lovely and is in a very safe and convenient location. Meg was very accommodating and easy to work with! We would love to come again!
