Walk to White Sands Beach or Relax by Your Private Pool

Amazing location right near the beach. This was perfect for my family. Would definitely rent again.

Our host was wonderful and attentive! Their lovely home is a great option for small groups comfortable with a more communal living experience. It was thoughtfully stocked, especially for beachgoers. The kitchen was also well equipped and had extra seasonings and supplies beyond what you’d typically expect, making it very functional for preparing meals at home.The design emphasizes openness and connection, which allows sound to travel easily throughout. The interior slatted doors and screened windows highly contribute to the shared atmosphere rather than a private one. However, they also contribute to the air flow! Even without air conditioning it stayed cool and comfortable with fans and trade winds. The driveway is quite steep and may be challenging for anyone with mobility concerns or discomfort with stairs, so it’s something to be mindful of when arriving and departing. The bedroom pull-down window blinds did not extend fully, which limited privacy in bedrooms facing the roadway or driveway.The pool is a beautiful feature; however, it is 4 feet deep at the shallowest so it may not be suitable for small children or non-swimmers without close supervision. For this reason we did not use it. During rainy weather don’t be surprised if some mist enters through the screened open-air ceiling areas. A quick wipe with a towel will keep it dry. Overall this is a well-supplied, beach-friendly home best suited for guests who value openness and shared living over full privacy.

This house is awesome! I can’t say enough about our stay. The house itself is laid out beautifully and the cabinets are stocked with everything you could possibly need from sugar, condiments, glasses, etc. There is snorkel gear, we brought our own, but could have used theirs. There are a ton of beach towels. There are amazing beaches within walking distance and the restaurants and shops are walkable as well. We were a bit disappointed with the weather, definitely more cloudy in December than we had hoped, but still most day had some blue skies and sun for a bit.

Everything was in great condition. The pool was cold because it’s in the shade the whole day

We had a lovely stay. Great location, close to Magic Sands Beach. Loved having a pool. Kitchen was stocked with all the equipment you could need. Would absolutely stay here again.

Lock box very difficult to open. Very steep driveway. Heavy chlorine in pool. Hair dryer in primary bathroom not working and TV in primary bedroom not working and no instructions. Air conditioning would have been nice.

Proximity to town while being up the hill for a view was lovely., The house is warm and welcoming. Our host was responsive, Kitchen was well-stocked.: beds and baths as described: roomy, clean. All 6 of us really enjoyed it!!

Host was responsive to any questions I had and very easy to work with. The house was great, it took some getting used to with no A/C and being so open but it cooled off enough at night to be comfortable with all the fans. We didn't get to use the pool much as it was cool and we had a cloudy week, but the location was great with an easy walk to the beach and magics beach grill, as well as the main drive into Kona. Also I'm not sure if it is on purpose or not but there were several cute green geckos that live in the house and left us alone but were a hit with the kids. Had everything we needed and then some. Would love to go back someday.

We stayed for 8 nights and it worked out perfect. The property is beautiful and we loved the pool. It was so nice to walk a short 5 to 10 min and be at a beach. Having beach supplies like chairs, coolers and snorkle gear was also great. Due to a previous guest there was an issue with the toilet in the downstairs room but the owner quickly had it fixed.I couple things to note. The main house does not have AC which we were not used to. My husband is someone who would have ac on even when it is 60 degrees. Lol. But it wasnt a major issue especially since we were out doing things during the day. The other thing to be aware of is the driveway is extremely steep so for those with bad knees or who are older it might be a little challenging. We opened the garage door at the top of the driveway and my dad who is 81 pulled his car in there so it worked out. All in all we enjoyed our stay and would recommend this home to others visiting Kona.

It was a very cute and comfortable home. The location was perfect. The ocean breezes kept the temperature very comfortable. All the amenities were great. It also was kid friendly.

Property was exactly as described and catered well to our family of 9, with 5 adults and 4 children ranging from 2 to 12 in age. Really? Well, designed to use the cooling winds and the pool was perfect for afternoon cooling off with the beach and snorkel spot close by. The requests that we had were responded to within the hour each time by a very patient Sarang. Whole heartedly recommend this holiday stay and these hosts in every way.

The property was perfectly located, spacious, and clean, and the owner provided lots of great information about the neighborhood as well as access to things like pool floats, lawn chairs, etc. The only thing that would have made it perfect would have been air conditioning. In that part of the world, I appreciate allowing the island currents to help cool the place off, but we couldn't get sufficient airflow through the windows every night. Perhaps higher-capacity ceiling fans would help if wall or window units aren't desirable aesthetically. Still, it felt like an island experience, and I would highly recommend the property. It was great value for the price.

We’ve stayed in several condos in Kona, but nothing compares to this oasis—it was truly amazing! The location was perfect, close to the beach and Alii Drive. The condo was exceptionally well-stocked, not just with kitchen basics but so much more. The garage was a treasure trove with snorkel gear, boogie boards, pool toys, and more. The outdoor deck was ideal for relaxing in the evenings, watching the kids swim while enjoying the cool breeze. With five adults and two kids (ages 10 and 12), we had more than enough space to spread out comfortably. We will definitely be back

This house could not have been more perfect for our summer vacation for our family of 10. We all enjoyed the beautifully designed, very clean pool. Location was close to beach and other places we wanted to visit. Communication with owner was excellent -- we particularly appreciated the booklet sent to us before our trip that outlined fun things to do and places to see. Don't miss the tour of Mountain Thunder coffee plantation! The entire trip was a thoroughly great experience!

We stayed for a 30th birthday with 3 couples and 2 babies. It was everything we could have asked for. The house is well stocked and once you get all the windows open and fans going it stays pretty comfortable.

The property location is amazing, just a short 5-10 min walk to Magic Sands Beach. The pool was amazing and my 3 boys (ages 8,5,2) loved it! There were beach towels and toys at the house. The cooler was great to have on our trips to the Hilo side. Communication with the owner was great and they were super helpful.

We had a great time in Hawaii! There was a snag with the check-in process but it was swiftly rectified by Sarang. House was not as clean as we had hoped, especially based on previous reviews.

We were a group of 5 adults, 3 singles & 1 couple and the setup of the house was perfect for us. The location is very convenient. We loved being in walking distance of a beach and a great restaurant. The kitchen had just about anything one might need and there are plenty of dishes, cutlery, and glassware. Nice furnishings, well maintained and tasteful. The owners were very responsive to our communications and the pre-visit information was a treasure trove of great activity suggestions. I really appreciated that extra spices, condiments, ect were available. I hope to come back.

Walkable to the beach with enough of a distance that you don't hear most of the local traffic. House had all the amenities needed to get settled in with and groceries were just a 5 minute drive. Clean and lovely.

Our family enjoyed the location and the pool. Also had a great view of the Sunset. It gets a little hot during the day with no AC but in the evening it cooled off enough to sleep well. The front unit had a AC unit but it didn't cool the space completely. Overall recommend

Everything was as shown. Easy communication. Our family enjoyed the location, the pool, the beach equipment, and the layout for all the various family configurations. The kitchen was well equipped and we enjoyed some family meals there. The ohana was a bit more "basic" in its fit and finish. Even though we were comfortable, it was a bit tired - the main house was great!

8 adults 2 kids had plenty of space to spread out, everything needed for cooking, beach and pool supplies, comfy beds and excellence views coupled with quick walk to beautiful beach. Perfect house for families

We had amazing time exploring Kona. This location was great. Dhort walk to the beach, annd only 25 minutes to the airport. Lots of amenities. No air conditioning but had plenty of fans that keep the house cool. We would go back in a heart beat!

We had a mix of family time while the younger set did snorkeling boogie boarding and hiking. Loved the pool

We loved the house it was so comfortable and had everything we needed to make our trip complete!! There was enough ocean gear to keep us all busy snorkeling and boogie boarding, plenty of beach towels. The kitchen was large enough for our entire family and well equipped with everything we needed . The kids enjoyed the pool after long days at the beach. Had a group of friends stay in Hawaii for my boyfriend’s birthday, the place was clean and spacious, with beautiful ambience and close to the beach. Wish we could’ve stayed longer

This property is in a great location but needs some fixing up. Great place to relax, We ate on the deck every day.

We stayed for a week and were very pleased with the property. The house was built with windows all over allowing the wonderful breeze throughout. The lanai was perfect for relaxing on and enjoying the sunset.The house was well stocked and clean. My only complaint is with the Ohana suite. While the it was directly underneath the master bedroom, it was completely separate from the actual house. The pictures and listing didn’t state that, so I assumed there was a connection somewhere. With that, the driveway was a bit steep so coming up from the Ohana suite/down from the house was a challenge.

A gorgeous house that accommodated 8 adults, located close to the water and fairly close to the beaches. Very convenient to have 3 bathrooms. We absolutely loved that the kitchen was fully stocked and had lots of dishes to use, as we cooked for most of our meals. The pool was very relaxing after a day of exploring the island. Host was very responsive and communicated well. Would highly recommend!

We stayed 5 nights and loved the property. It's private, but extremely close to the beach (private access), shopping, etc.

The main house and ohana were the perfect set up for our extended family. The kitchen was very well stocked and the pool and deck were used daily!

My husband and I took our children, granddaughter and children’s friends on our Christmas vacation. The house was so perfect for us. The children had the upstairs house and we had the Ohana for our sleeping quarters. The beach was so close, we could hear the waves crashing against the rocks from the backyard. There was more than enough space for the 7 of us and everybody was comfortable. The house does not have air, but it had ceiling fans and box fans. It cooled off at night, so everybody was real comfortable. (No a/c may be a turn off for some people). We walked to the beach everyday. The house sits on a cul du sac so it was very quiet the whole time we were there. It was easy to get around to Walmart, Starbucks and the gas stations. This homes does have an in ground pool, but the water was too cold to get in. We did relax quite a bit by the pool though.Overall, it was one of the best family vacations we’ve taken as a family and I would do it all over again at this home.

Great property, especially for families with kids. The pool comes in handy when the ocean is not cooperating. Great amenities was surprised to find a rice cooker in the kitchen score!

We had four adults and couldn’t have enjoyed ourselves more! This gorgeous home is clean, well stocked and comfortable. We enjoyed the pool and bbq in the evenings. I was up before the sun to sit outside and wait for the birds to wake up. Sarang has a great list of things to do and places to eat on the island. I kept a copy in the car and it was so helpful. I also had to reach out to Sarang about the waterfall in the pool and got an immediate response. I would not hesitate to stay here again and hope I can. 10/10! Thank you Sarang!

This house is perfect for a small group of friends/family. Location is within walking distance to magic sands! Docked a star due to the rock hard mattress located in the Ohana suite - felt like a box spring with no cushion on top. Otherwise perfect home

The property was AMAZING! Very well taken care of Beautiful home with Gorgeous views! We all wished we could've stayed longer! The pool was so much fun for all & Magic Sands Beach was so close & so much fun ! We LOVED it!I was hesitant at first with no ac but the airflow with the windows & doors open was Great. We just returned from our seven day stay and really enjoyed the house. It was very clean, very well stocked and super comfortable. We loved the pool- it is a great size and was surprisingly deep, which was appreciated by our group of all adults. It’s a comfortable walk to the nearby beaches, though we decided to spend most of our water time in the pool since the beaches were generally crowded. We didn’t use the lower level apartment though we did check it out. No direct access to the house or pool made it not as appealing to our son who had expressed interest in staying in it. The only drawback for us overall was that the driveway is extremely steep, so one of our party who has some mobility challenges could only leave if we were in the car. The host left a great book of info about what to do and where to go, along with current visitor guides and maps. If we come back to Kona this house would be our first choice for staying in this area. It would be great for a group of adults to share! We appreciated all of the extras and the cleanliness of the property inside and out meant we had very few if any of Hawaii’s famous bugs joining us.

The house was quite lovely, and had plenty of space for all 7 of us to spread out. It was a little warm because of no ac, but that wouldn’t stop us from renting it again if we ever went back to Hawaii! Would highly recommend!!

We rented this quiet neighborhood home over a year in advance and very much enjoyed our stay. We found it quite walkable to local swim and snorkeling spots and restaurants—and for good exercise, the 1.5 mile walk to the nearest grocery store. Appreciated that the house was well-equipped with everything from kitchen gear and beach/swim/snorkeling stuff to board games, laundry detergent, paper towels and toilet paper, condiments, and basic kitchen goods. The beds are great, the outdoor spaces glorious, and the sunsets each night are forever memories. This is the very best in VRBO-ing, harkening back to the glory days when you were trusted in someone's home (and not a sanitized, for-profit only short term rental with one roll of toilet paper to get you started). We would have appreciated just a couple more indoor towels/washcloths, and it would have been great to not have to deal with multiple people trying to keep track of two house keys (a lock with a key code is the way to go!). We were very grateful for the local advice the host kindly shared with us in advance, and we found the Big Island's offerings to be plenty entertaining for our ~10 day visit. Would not hesitate to recommend this stay!

The property was beautiful & in a great location. Our only trouble we ran into that made us have to contact the property management company was the 2nd night (Monday)- my mother-in-law came face to face with a poisonous centipede. My husband went down to the Ohana suite & killed it for her, then she slept on the couch upstairs. We called the property management company the next day & they said they wouldn’t be able to send out any pest control until Friday- the day we leave! The toilet & bathroom sink in the Ohana suite could use an update & there was water pooling on top of that fridge. Both kitchen sinks were awesome! There isn’t air-conditioning in the main house, but with open windows with screens & fans, it stays pretty nice for the most part. We followed a lot of the owners’ island suggestions. Some were hits & some were misses. Some of that I think was more just based on the natural elements. The nearby beach- Magic Sands- was in the “No sands” stage the whole time we were here, but we all enjoyed what we ordered at Magic’s Grill. We made the drive to Makalawena Beach & it was quite an experience! It scratched up the bottom of our rented minivan 😬 & caused a lot of white knuckles. Of all we tried, Kua Beach was our favorite. This house was absolutely perfect. Our family is not high maintenance and focus more on functionality. This place was comfortable, large, and had many many perks. The pool, pool toys, and snorkeling gear. The kitchen was very well equipped with everything we could need and more. The walk to magic sands beach is super quick. No concerns, complaints or otherwise for this house. Host replied super quick to questions. Book it now! You will not be disappointed.

Overall, the house was well stocked with kitchen supplies, towels, pool floats, and basics. It was very comfortable but the mattresses could be replaced. The ceiling fans in every room were wonderful but air conditioning for the bedrooms would be a big plus as it did get very hot at night. I would recommend the house because of its size and amenities.

My husband and I along with our daughters and their spouses stayed in this beautiful home for 10 days. The house is very lovely with good breezes. My husband and I stayed in the Ohana room which had air conditioning but the upstairs was also very comfortable. We used the pool more than I anticipated and it was great. The house was well stocked and the supply of snorkeling and beach gear was impressive. We are most meals on the lanai as well as our morning coffee. Sarang was very quick to respond to questions and provided helpful information for planning the trip. This was one of the nicest houses we have rented through VRBO and I would definitely recommend it. Everything about the stay was relaxing.

My husband and 2 kids (ages 8 & 5) who live in Australia met up with my sister and cousins (who each had an infant) from the East Coast USA and stayed in this house together for a week. It was magical. The house was so well equipped for us, including lots of useful baby gear, beach toys, pool floaties, snorkel gear and more. My kids were in the pool at least 3 times a day, and we loved walking down to Magic Sands beach as well (where we got to swim with turtles!) We loved the cafe/restaurant on the beach and had dinner and breakfast there several times. The house was very comfortable, everything was as described. We were so greatful for all the condiments, spices and pantry items that were in the house. It is so annoying to have to buy all those things just for a one-week stay. We loved the adorable green geckos crawling everywhere and made great use of the outdoor shower. It was a perfect week.

The yard and pool are lovely. The house is spacious and clean. Well equipped kitchen and barbeque. Lots of extras like condiments, spices, coffee maker, individual fans as well as ceiling fans. We had 8 adults and 2 children, 2 and 6 who loved the pool every morning and lots more times throughout the day. The extra space in the apartment below for naps and early bedtime was perfect for the children. We brought a baby moniter to keep them safe when sleeping without us. Of course Mom and Dad joined them at night! Lots of pool toys and flotation items. Snorkeling gear was plentiful. We loved the waterfall in the pool! Easy walk to shoreline and beaches. We brought a foldable wagon which United Airlines let us check for free as luggage at the airport. We used the wagon to walk to the beach and for Volcanoes National Park in their paved areas. Bbq often with Costco meats. Tight fit with 2 cars in the garage, but it worked well. We enjoyed the gecko guests that visited us each day and the amazing chirping of birds every morning! Sunsets were beautiful right on the back porch and at Magic Sands Beach. The owners were easy to reach and quick to respond to any questions we had. The book provided with information and things to do was very thorough and helpful. Our week long stay was amazing and we wish it could have been even longer!
