Property Overview
Location is everything!
The Red Ginger is a compact studio apartment with its own private balcony providing a city view of Waikiki. With historic Waikiki Beach is just outside the hotel lobby, the Red Ginger makes a perfect home base for exploring Honolulu and the rest of Oahu.
An expansive roof deck on top of the hotel, just one floor above the studio, provides a bird's eye view of Diamond Head. There are lounge chairs for sunbathing and tables for alfresco dining. No one else in Waikiki has a better view of the sun setting into the Pacific. Kapiolani Park is just across the street and offers the Honolulu Zoo, Waikiki Aquarium, the Royal Hawaiian Bandstand, tennis courts, soccer fields, archery ranges, weekend art shows and the city's Sunset on the Beach free concerts and movies - all this in its 500 green acres.
One of the main reasons for coming to Hawaii is of course the sun and sand. Surfing, stand up board paddling, outrigger canoeing, swimming and simply lounging on the beach are all just a few steps from the Red Ginger.
Hawaii is the crossroads of the Pacific and its culinary offerings reflect that abundantly, so while the Red Ginger Suite has a kitchen and microwave, you are a short walk away from countless cafes and restaurants catering to every taste and price range. Similarly, if you can get yourself out of the water and away from the beach there is a lot of shopping to be done in Waikiki, and the many other shopping venues just a short drive away.
The Red Ginger is located at the end of Waikiki. Kapahulu Avenue provides easy access to the freeway, and makes getting in and out of the area very easy because you avoid all the traffic in the heart of Waikiki. This is perfect for when you decide to explore the rest that Oahu has to offer.

Kevin was very thorough in sharing information. The apartment is small but well situated. We found it just right for our purposes.Amenities are all around. Waikiki Beach is a block away. All in all a very good choice for a single or couple to stay at Waikiki.
The host provided great details and answered questions quickly. The room was clean and it was easy to get to the beach, food and fun without a vehicle. Thanks Kevin!!!
The host was delightful. The room smelled and was too small. He was kind enough to refund after two nights.
Clean, great location, the air condititioner was loud and a update to a newer model is needed. Small room for people who want a 3- 14 day stay. Very nice laundry area for washing and drying.
Clean room with essentials for making simple meals. Amazing view from the Sun deck! Kevin was a very responsive host and accommodating when we needed an additional night. The bed was super comfortable and while the space is small as described it fit our needs perfectly! We would definitely stay here again.
Great little studio, excellent location.
Great location, beautiful views from the rooftop. Would stay here again. We were able to walk to so many places, we never needed a car. We discovered Teddy’s Bigger Burgers downstairs and ate there 4 times!
This is a fantastic location and beautiful beachfront. The room (902) was small, but very clean and comfortable and quiet. The kitchen had a fairly large refrigerator and freezer and a two burner stovetop as well as a fullsuze microwave, coffeemaker, utensils, plates and cups and glasses. We slept comfortably each evening after long days enjoying the beautiful beach and otherisland outings. Beautiful breathtaking view of Waikiki Beach and Diamond Head. Lots of food andshopping places nearby.
Small but clean room. Walk to beach, perfect location and host provided beach towels and coffee maker. Hula’s restaurant on 2nd floor was fantastic also. Loved being able to pay for parking spot very easy!
The Red Ginger is in the best location in Waikiki. If you are looking at the Red Ginger book it. The condo is small but it has everything you need, it is handy to an ABC store and a short walk to a supermarket. The owner was easy to deal with in answering my questions and requests. The site manager is lovely and also easy to deal with. I was fortunate enough to meet her when I arrived at the room.
The property is in an ideal location and the rooftop view is stellar! My host was the best I've ever had, highly communicative, helpful and kind! It is small, but I knew that as it was communicated clearly in the listing and the size was not a problem at all. I highly recommend staying at the Red Ginger!
Perfect location! Smaller room but very functional.
Everything worked really good with check in, he was also VERY ACCOMMODATING with an extra night when we had a scheduling conflict. The next guests were not due in until after we left with the extension! It is small, but adequate, clean, and comfortable! The convenience was great and the rooftop sunroof was fantastic. Kevin is easy to work with and his room manager was fantastic!
AC was pathetic and generally did not work. Shower head needed to be replaced, zero water pressure. Need grab bar in tub/shower. Seating at table was horrible, needs to be regular size, not have to climb into seat. Very old, vintage room. no view, beach chairs are for kids only. parking below was good, very expensive. Close to the beach and ABC store for prepared food. No oven or toaster oven in apt.
Everything was good.
Everything was wonderful, front desk was helpful, beach was gorgeous, and the recommendations on where to go and where to eat were perfect :)
We were met by Jeannie the property manager, who was extremely helpful, and made us feel welcome. The studio was perfect for our short stay and, in our opinion, located in the best part of Waikiki. Due to the small size of the studio, it was equipped with only basic needs, which was understandable. The bed was very comfortable, so we slept well every night. Although a t.v. was available, we did not watch it.We enjoyed the balcony which faced north. We have had balconies facing Diamond Head before, and could never sit outdoors due to the hot sun, whereas, this balcony wasshaded all day,Although there was beach equipment we did not use them, but it was to know they were there for our use.It was nice to know that we could store our luggage at the front desk of the hotel, if we needed on departure. As seasoned travelers, we appreciated the Red Ginger studio, which was reasonably priced for Waikiki. We would stay there again.
Close to the beach. Very well equipped. The rooftop deck was beautiful to watch the sunset. Friendly environment.
Had a lovely week at red ginger nice overlooking the zoo and the beautiful sunsets bed was fantastic which is a plus nice hot shower walk 100 meters and you're on the beach and your right at the end of the craziness of the strip top spot
The location and view is awesome, the building is quiet, the front desk is helpful with basic needs and directions. The kitchenette is adequate. Unfortunately, we had a cement wall on deck so can’t see anything sitting down. The broom needs replacing if you want floors kept clean, very worn out.
We had a wonderful time at the Red Ginger. It was perfectly located in Waikiki and the beach and parks. And as a bonus we had a good time at the zoo.
Well located apartment and wonderfull view of diamond head and the beach on the roof top!!
Conveniently located close to the finish line of the Honolulu Marathon
Older property but very clean. Bed very comfortable. 2 min from beach and a beautiful park. The 10th floor offer the most spectacular view of diamond head and gorgeous sun sets. My only disappointment is the pool. The sun only it’s it a couple hours a day and is open to a restaurant.
Good location, good price, walkable
Had everything we needed. Owner was very thoughtful, provided links to local information, transportation, etc.
Close to the beach. Old, somewhat dirty, and VERY SMALL. Bring your own TP you get three rolls. We ignored other posts indicating a cockroach infestation issue and figured the owner would have fixed the issue, bad idea. When we got home very late, dropped our baggage off in the house. In the morning when we lifted the luggage and back pack we were greeted with a lot of small cockroaches running everywhere. NEVER again!!!
Room was as advertised. Our room - no view, but rooftop fantastic. Bathroom tub and toilet should of had hand bars for ease for older folks. Walk to beach was wonderful.
The location and proximity to the beach is exactly as pictured on the website. The beach is just a few steps away, plus shops and restaurants all around. The neighborhood is busy but the hotel is quite. The kitchen had items that you need as described by the manager. No problem getting inside the room. Very clean and orderly. The 10th floor roof deck view was beyond amazing. I will definitely stay at this same hotel when I get the chance to visit Hawaii again.
This location is nice, and lots to do without leaving the area. It reminds me of the Vegas Strip in the evening with the number of people and cars on the streets but expected being right across the famous Waikiki beach. The hosts have additional beach items, which was a bonus! We had a car rental so we explored the Island since we like to avoid crowds. The paid parking on location is pricey at $30 a day, but well worth it for the convenience. It’s about an hour from North Shore and 20 mins or so from the airport. Spectacular views from the 10th floor, don't miss it! Overall a great stay and worked well for my husband and I.
Hidden little gem on the south side of Waikiki. Very clean, everything as listed. Kevin made check-in so easy. The sun deck access on the 10th floor has spectacular views of Diamond Head and any bands playing on Kuhio Beach (I got to see J Boog playing from here, so cool!). 2 minutes to the beach and shopping. Loved it, will plan on staying again in the future!
The property is truly just steps from the beach. The 10th floor sun deck was a huge blessing to be able to see the sunset in the evening and connect with others on their vacation.
Awesome location! Can’t beat it
This condo has a medium size fridge with a freezer and a small stove top. There is a balcony with a view of the pool on the ground floor. The location is very good: close to the shops on Kalakaua Avenue and Waikiki Beach, to ABC stores and restaurants. There is a bus station just steps from the condo, which is inside the Waikiki Grand Hotel. When you tell the shuttle driver the name Red Ginger, he is confused, but if you say Waikiki Grand Hotel, he knows.
For the price this place fit our needs just right. I would stay again. The property is dated, but it is kept up very well. I liked that we were literally steps from the beach. Also the Honolulu Zoo is across the street.
Great place to stay, very close to beach, lots of restaurants, and shopping within steps. Unit is smaller, but charming. All residents and staff great to deal with. Kevin, was great to deal with.
What I liked was the location, perfect for the beach and daily walks on the beach strip and shopping. Also very central to the Bus transportation. What I did not like is that the Hotel had a bad bar element with strange folks making a lot of noise, on several occassions the cops were around the area. The apartment could do with new sheets and comforter, and more towels.
This unit is adequate for one or two people since it is very small. The bed definitely needs to be replaced! It sags and squeaks. Terrible for people with back problems. The toilet should be upgraded to a unit that flushes faster and with less water. The shower is the worst I've been in since it's for people less than 6 feet tall. I am 6' 3" and had to bend over to get under the showerhead which is uncomfortable. Also the shower water pressure is very low and the water temperature constantly fluctuates while taking a shower. The shower at the beach is 10 times better! Everything else in the unit was good and functional including the television, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker and stove. The location of this unit was good. Walking distance to everything including the beach, shopping, and restaurants. The best part of this unit is having access to the 10th floor observation section/deck which gave you a beautiful view of Diamond Head and the beach. I personally wouldn't rent this unit in the future because I love to relax in a good, hot and strong shower. I wouldn’t recommend this unit to people taller than 6 feet because of the shower. I also wouldn't recommend this unit to people who have back problems unless the bed is replaced with a new firm bed that doesn't sag and squeak.
