Unit 8 at Colony One at Sea Mountain resort on the Big Island is perfect for those who want to get away from the crowds. It is an ideal location to explore Hawai`i Volcanoes National Park or enjoy the Black and Green Sand Beaches,

The unit features a king bed and privacy doors separating the bedroom from the living area. There is a comfortable sofa sleeper. This unit has a quiet grassy area for morning yoga and night time star gazing.

This condo is steps from the saltwater pool and lava rock hot tub that overlook the ocean. The pool area houses 2 gas BBQ's, restrooms, two koi ponds, and an outdoor shower. The Punaluu lack sand beach is between a 5 - 10 minute walk. Parking at the resort and at the beach is free.

I recommend ordering groceries from Target or Safeway (Hilo and Kona options) while you wait for your luggage so that you can pick groceries on your way out of town heading towards the condo. Costco is also an option if you are flying into Kailua-Kona.

Located at the south end of the Big Island 60 miles from Hilo and 80 miles from Kailua- Kona. Hilo has a farmer's market with the popular days being Wednesdays and Saturdays/ The condo complex is only 25 minutes from (VNP) Volcanoes National Park where the often erupting Kilauea Volcano, and Thurston Lava Tube are located. About 5 miles from the condo is Pahala Town which has a hospital, Longs Drugs, bank, post office and small country store. Down the road towards Kona about 7 miles is the town of Naalehu you can find the Punaluu Bakery, Hana Hou restaurant, Taco Tita's, food trucks and a gas station with a convenience store. There is a farmer's market in Naalehu on Wednesdays. There are free day hikes in the VNP Kahuku Unit (mile marker 70.5 on Hwy 11). Climb to the top of the Pu'u o Lakuana cinder cone, hike through the history of lava flows or enjoy a leisurely walk - there's something for all abilities. Check out nps.gov for more information.

The Big Island/Hawaii Island is home to the Green Sand Beach which is created from Olivine crystals, and South Point Cliffs are the most southern point in the United States and are world renowned for its amazing views and cliff jumping excitement. The Kau Coffee Mills, provide tours and samples. You'll run out of time before you run out of things to do.
