Kitchen was sad. No usable cutting boards. Awful kitchen knife set. Pots and pans that have all seen better days. Everything had to be scrubbed. The idea for us, with this very remote property, was to cook great meals ourselves; we ended up ordering Thai food to-go most nights. Was very disappointed that the cook stovetop was not what was shown in VRBO pictures. Trager grill was filthy and inoperable. Pool cleaning equipment had to be left in pool. (Not shown on VRBO pics, including 20' of hose.) Two hot tubs, a portable/questionable one taking up too much deck space, and second down by pool that did not seem to be in fully working order either (water was getting murky?). The noise from the invasive Coqui frogs is a sad reality on the island now (of course no fault of owner).Host WAS responsive when we reached out with some observations - for example, in two days we did get a new charcoal grill, and a requested rice cooker. He offered to send out the cleaner again. I'm sure if I had requested new kitchen knives and cutting board it would have been provided. But, while "responsiveness" is really awesome, it is also after the fact. Being "proactive" and making sure all the little details are in place before guests arrive would be much, much, much better.House was very well stocked with TP, paper towels, trash bags, laundry detergent, deck towels, etc. This was a big plus.Overall, some moments were enjoyable, but would not recommend to family and friends.

We stayed here for our 20-year anniversary and it was amazing! The views, particularly sunset, were made of dreams. The deck was the biggest selling point. We would make dinner and sit out there in the evenings watching the sunset. We also used the fire table when it got dark. And played pool while enjoying the shaded deck. Kitchen was well stocked and very clean. Bedrooms were comfortable. I would definitely stay here again. It’s a bit far from the airport and a town, but we learned everything on the Big Island is far from everything else, so driving is inevitable if you are planning to sightsee and hike like we did. This place is also great if you plan to want days of just being at the house. It was so relaxing. I would definitely stay here again!

Our family - two adults and two kids under 10 - spent 8 wonderful days at this house. The home has everything to keep a family comfortable and entertained just as advertised: plenty of room, washer/dryer, incredible ocean views, big clean kitchen, TVs with streaming content, a nice pool table on the deck to play at sunset, etc. The biggest highlight is the host - who is very responsive, welcoming and tended to all our requests immediately. Would highly recommend.

We enjoyed our stay. The place was great. The kids loved the pool table. The view off the back deck looking over the rain forest down towards the Pacific was extraordinary. This place is quite remote, but in a very good way (no noise except the great outdoors).

The house is spectacular and comfortable all at the same time. We spent a lot of our time on the lanai overlooking the garden and ocean. The property is elevated so there are no obstructions to direct views of sunsets. The kitchen is wonderful to work in and many of the cooking staples are provided as well as paper products. If you’re looking for peace and quiet this is it, just you and the Hawaiian wildlife.

Enjoyed this beautiful home. The view was amazing as were the flowering trees and plants. It was tastefully decorated and had all the amenities plus. The kitchen is stocked full. You will need to bring only food. We definitely recommend you stay here and we will stay again if ever on the Big Island.

This was my first trip to Kona. If you're looking for solitude and relaxation, this house is for you. My family and I very much enjoyed our stay and our host was very attentive and responsive with any of our needs or questions. I would wholeheartedly recommend it.

My wife and I wanted a vacation to relax, rest, and reset. Papa Belle proved to be the perfect getaway for a five day stay. The home is secluded. Though there are neighboring homes, you would never know it. We did not see or hear anyone for our entire visit. The only sounds that we ever heard came from nature. The home has multiple decks looking towards the ocean and offers various perspectives to watch the sun rise and set. Even without air conditioning, the house is remarkably climate controlled with ample doors and windows to allow for cross breezes to adjust your own air flow. At no time was the temperature uncomfortable. We loved watching the geckos, chickens & roosters roam the property, and we enjoyed roaming the expansive property. The grounds include banana, papaya & mango trees that we were able to pick from, as well as avocados and pineapples that weren't quite ready for picking during our visit. The pool and jacuzzi are on the lower deck and offer great unobstructed views of the Pacific. If you do want to walk or hike in the area, there is a paved road that leads from the property up to the main road (Hawaii Belt Road 11), with a pretty significant elevation change on foot. The host is amazing. From our initial questions in researching & booking the trip to any questions we had during our stay, Tim was extremely responsive. He answered questions extremely quickly and provided clarity that left no doubt that what he said would be correct & followed through on.

Papa Belle provided a very comfortable and beautiful vacation! You’re on an orchard with many varieties of fruit, and lots of chickens and roosters (although in Hawaii they are called Red Jungle fowl) and they crow all day long!!! 😳😆 Due to staying approximately 1500 ft above sea level the breeze keeps house cooler than staying down in Kona area. The beds and sheets are super comfortable, and there is a wide selection of seating, inside and out, for every type of relaxing. Plenty of shade and sun depending on your preference. If you enjoy cooking it’s the most well appointed kitchen we’ve experienced in our dozens of trips to HI, especially the Big Island. The house was clean, and the view out to the ocean provided many wonderful sunsets and an amazing double rainbow one day. The little Geckos are adorable and remember they are good luck and eat bugs so don't bother them - they don't bother you. Note that the property is a bit remote, traveling a mostly curvy (35 to 45 mph) road. If you don’t feel like traveling back and forth to the Kona area, where all the large markets are located, we suggest you stock up on your way from the airport. There are some smaller grocery stores in the Ocean View area. And if coffee is your love there are orchards and stops to satisfy your tastes. Tim is the most gracious host, he’s very quick to respond to any questions, and resolve any concerns. We love this property and strongly recommend it! Mahalo Tim!

The perfect place to stay for an authentic Hawaiian experience! We ate fresh avocados, grapefruit and papaya picked from the trees on the property. The sunsets on the patio are magical. Tim was always quick to respond. This was about an hour outside of Kona which gave us a chance to experience Hawaii away from the crowds. Would highly recommend this private tropical oasis!
