Five stars for the view from the condo, location and responsiveness of the host. We very much enjoyed having breakfast with a wonderful ocean view, watching sunset every evening and sleeping with the sound of waves. It is a short distance from downtown Kona but still very quiet and peaceful. A few hiccups regarding the broken microwave & leaky water reservoir of the toilet but it got taken care of in a timely manner. The place could use a little upgrade but we will definitely stay there again for the view & location.

The condo was prepared with plenty of necessities to use. We had everything in the kitchen needed for meals and morning coffee to make us feel at home.

Condo is nice, with a great view, BUT...the central air system in the complex was down for repairs, which we were only notified of after arrival. They provided a portable unit, but that only cooled the bedroom, while leaving the living room/kitchen at 78 degrees. Another big problem was no way to reach help in the evening when we locked ourselves out. We had to hire a locksmith to get back in to the unit, for 380! The next day we were notified about an emergency lockbox we could have used, if only we knew the night before!

Nice cozy condo with good size bedroom, shower, fully stocked kitchen, clean and most importantly Fantastic View and Sound! Lulled us to sleep. Also the location to the restaurant district is ideal, just 5 minutes away. We loved this place.

We loved the space and the location! It was wonderful to have coffee in the morning while watching the ocean and listening to the surf. We will definitely stay here again.

Condo had everything we needed and a great view to boot. Quiet, close to town without being on a busy road, and right on the water. We stayed 2 weeks and had a great time.

Perfect location with easy walking access to downtown Kailua-Kona. The unit was very clean and well-stocked. Plenty of towels available, if needed. Casago even leaves some local treats and coffee beans which is a nice perk! The view from the living room, bedroom and the deck was amazing. Neighbors were quiet (no parties while I was there). The parking spot for 303 was very convenient, right at the entry to the parking lot. There is an elevator at the north end for bringing luggage up/down. Laundry room is also at the north end. Bring quarters and detergent. 2 washers and 2 dryers per floor. No change machine on site and no one was at the building office. It seemed to be well-used when I walked by, but never had to wait to start my wash cycle. Limited open hours, so plan accordingly. Each cycle takes about 40 minutes. As others mentioned, the unit could use some updates, but overall, it was a lovely stay.

The view was amazing (when the cruise ships weren’t blocking which was 1 day out of 9) It’s convenient to walk to eat, and souvenir shop The road out front is extremely busy and noisy The beach that you can supposedly walk to is where the homeless sleep (awful odor/safety?) The condo was disgusting.Mold in shower, the a/c had a horrible odor The two doors had holes in them and so much dirt! (I looked at the neighbors theirs were clean) the fan in the bedroom created a wet film over all soft surfaces & smelled musty. Windows hadn’t been washed in ages, fridge missing parts and ice overflowed, patio furniture falling apart along with the roll down screens that are covered in mold and frayed. Bed needed to be replaced years ago instead they put a foam pad over the top (horrible backache) Lamp broken glued back together with missing parts covered in dust. Kitchen light wouldn’t work, got repair guy he never came back and the cover was so gross. Inside cabinets need deep cleaning. Mishmash of kitchen supplies and no spices. Microwave display not working, oven beeps randomly, TV has two red lines running down screen.W/D are not in room, at end of hall $2 ea one broken/rusted. EVERYTHING was old, outdated, not cleaned, smelled and not as described. Pool nice. 10 loungers and 2 umbrellas for entire complex. Oh, and replace the beach towels! Seriously. Management company sent me text after text after text. Quite annoying and redundant. Would not recommend this unit at all

The apartment is in a great location, right by the sea. We will certainly never forget this view. The apartment was ok. But the bed was terrible with the foam. And we had uninvited guests in the form of small creepy crawlies like cockroaches. Most of them in the kitchen which was very unapetizing. Otherwise everything was fine.

We came to Kona to visit our daughter who is on the University of the Nations campus. The location of this condo was great for walking everywhere! So many extras were available for us to use such as beach towels, beach umbrella and an adorable little yellow cooler, which we put to use. Thank you! The kitchen has absolutely everything you need as we had several students over for dinner one evening. Beautiful sunsets and glorious views right off the deck. Perfect!

We’ve stayed at a different condo in this complex and recommend it to couples (it’s very small) who want to have an oceanfront lanai, easy walk into heart of Kona restaurants and shops, and kitchen. This is the first time we’ve rented a unit from the Casago rental company and we were thrilled with their responsiveness. Unfortunately through no fault of property management the broiler broke and there was no hot water in the entire complex. To make up for this, we were reimbursed 30% for each day without water. We’ll return!

We had a great stay at Hale Kona Kai. The condo is as pictured and was very comfortable. The kitchen is fully stocked with all the necessary kitchenware needed to make a great meal. The bathroom was clean and everything was in great working order. The living room furniture was surprisingly comfortable although I can’t say we spent much time there as the lanai was our go to. The bedroom is very functional and a good size with lots of storage. The bed, while a bit older and a little noisy was very comfortable. We loved the sheets! The view is amazing! We had a very busy vacation planned and the view off the lanai made it difficult to leave each morning. It is the perfect place to drink Kona coffee and even eat breakfast in the morning. Watching the yellow tangs in the waves and small fish, crabs and even an eel or two in the tide pools was very entertaining. Location was everything and we found ourselves walking all over town since everything was close. Restaurants, bars, beach, shopping etc. The management team was helpful and readily available, and even provided some treats (cookies and Kona Coffee). We loved having the lockbox for the key as it kept us from the potential to lose it. I will say, if you are looking for five star high end luxury this is not the way to go as this place is very well loved if you are looking for a comfortable well loved condo this is your place to be! We were very comfortable and hope to visit again soon!

Positives: -The unit and property was generally as pictured/described. -The view and proximity to the ocean was outstanding. We enjoyed watching the yellow tang below and whales further out. The surf was so close that it was almost too noisy. -Easy walk to central Kona, yet far enough away that we were removed from the noise and bustle. -A few pleasant surprises included some condiments and basics left in the kitchen by others, a knife that was actually sharp, and good condition Tommy Bahamas chairs. -Shower was very nice. Bathroom was decent with ample storage. -The complimentary coffee and chocolate were a nice touch. Negatives -2nd key was missing. We reported it but Casago made no effort to replace. It was a nuisance to constantly place the sole key in the lock box as instructed whenever we left. -Main bed box spring and mattress need to be replaced. -Front door locks appear ancient and not very secure. Regardless, the building generally felt safe and the other residents were very nice. -A few more basics in kitchen such as a coffee measure, coffee filters that actually fit the coffee maker and salt and pepper shakers would be appreciated.
