Great space and a great location!

The unit had all of the things we needed to prepare our meals. Pots, pans and utensils. Ice maker was nice to fill our cooler daily. Air conditioner in both the living and bedroom worked great. Full sized washer and dryer as well. Sunset from the pool area is amazing!

My family like this condo! This place is well stocked with almost everything you need when you travel with children. Kitchen, bathroom, laundry, bedroom, stuff for beach. Feels like home. The owner put notes on the walls, and it is so easy for the stay. Owner is highly responsible, communication is smooth. Parking is easy and the condo is on the first floor; you don't need to worry about steps when you have heavy luggage. Suggestion: add some beach toys for small kid. Thank you Jeanette and Michael!

The view was spectacular!

The host is absolutely fantastic! Quick responses and does everything to make your stay comfortable and amazing. But nothing can beat the back lanai overlooking the grounds and straight to the ocean. Looked forward to every meal out there.

Perfect stay! We loved this property and its beautiful view, pool/hot tub, chairs, umbrella, and KING size comfy bed. The host was very responsive and check in was easy. Right by the lively Kona strip and close to amazing beaches. Would definitely recommend!

The Best: Our stay was quite very relaxing. The condo is exactly as pictured and very comfortable in all ways. Location is perfect, beds comfy, unit was clean, ocean breezes were cooling with little need for AC. WiFi worked well, conference call with our IT to transfer data to a new laptop. The decor is unique and quite interesting. The sunsets and overall ambiance is spectacular. We did have need to contact the owners for a couple of quick questions and their response time was extremely prompt. We could have answered them ourselves had we checked cabinets, especially nice they took the time to point out locations of items. The owners take great care in the comfort and convenience of their guest.Minor issues: *Construction repairs are happening on one of the buildings at the edge of the property's oceanfront. The noise is considerable while at the pool/cabana and ocean seating area. * Although I believe the property does not allow animals, a local woman brought her dog to the seating area in the evening at sunset, well behaved just took up seating from other guests. *Very strict rules regarding telephone conversations, music, etc in common areas and on the lanai which we appreciate as noise does travel near the ocean. Only once did we experience another guest playing music loudly and making cell calls. Owners cannot be responsible for others who ignore the property rules, a maintenance person was present for the issues and said nothing so perhaps dogs are allowed.

My husband and I enjoyed a fabulous week long stay at this cute condo! Everything was clean and very comfortable, from the spacious bedroom to the lanai overlooking the gardens and ocean. If you want to cook your own meals, the kitchen is equipped with a stove/oven, plenty of pots, pans and utensils, and all the standard spices. We really enjoyed the communal effort to keep noise to a minimum, allowing you to enjoy the sound of the ocean and wind in the palm trees from the lanai and pool area. Overall a fabulous location, well appointed condo and beautiful view. We would definitely stay here again!

The oceanfront sunsets at this property were spectacular! It was easy to communicate with the host, they were very responsive and helpful. We appreciated all the amenities provided; including beach gear, and spices & condaments-it helpped a lot. The property is very well maintained. Mahalo for a wonderful stay in paradise!

Had a great 4 day stay here. The home is clean and well stocked. Really enjoyed the time spent on the Lanai and beautiful sunsets. The kitchen was well stocked with whatever we needed to cook breakfasts and make coffee. The walk from the home to downtown Kona is easy - about a mile to shops and restaurants. Hosts were responsive and check in process was easy. Parking and getting in and out was no problem. Definitely recommend having a car ti enjoy the island. Very happy with our stay.

Great pool!

Balcony view is exactly as advertised, so amazing! Lots of fans to keep the place cool, as well as air conditioning that we didn't use.

We loved our stay here! The condo had all the supplies we needed for some basic cooking. We especially loved the ocean view from the lanai! We were able to walk into town which was nice. The location felt safe and parking was secure. Would recommend!

The property was a beautiful space. The kitchen had all the appliances including a washer/dryer. The lanai was the perfect morning coffee-drinking spot with virw toward the ocean. The livivng room was spacious with 2 couches. Bathroom was great with lots of room. The king size bed in the bedroom was veey comfy. Not having to take a key when leaving the condo is very handy.We loved the sunsets down by the cabana!The condo is close to restaurants and other stores. Also, the airport is very close for going home.There are many beaches south of the condo. Kahalu'u was our favorite for snorkeling; lots of fantastic fish.One can't go wrong renting this unit!

Excellent property, we loved it! This was a beautifully landscaped condo complex right on the ocean, right on Alii, a very nice location. The pool was great, ping pong was fun! The unit was clean, well appointed and had excellent internet and tv service. Parking and access were also great and convenient. We would definitely stay here again. It was a dream trip for us - stayed for a month in height of summer. Grand slam for us 2 old freedivers on Big Island!

All was perfect. All amenities were amazing and the outside area offers pleasent moments in family. Finally the view was especially breathtaking during sunsets.

We absolutely loved our stay in this condo! It was super comfortable with darling decor and had everything we needed! The view is of the ocean and we could actually see dolphins from the lanai in the morning! The pool and the Jacuzzi were excellent. It was quiet, peaceful and exactly what we needed! The hosts were great. Communication was wonderful and they even left us a couple of beverages in the fridge! Highly recommend!

First time trip to Hawaii and we were very pleased with our booking. Easy parking, kitchen fully stocked, relaxing lanai with a gorgeous view, tons of beach equipment (chairs, cooler, towels, boogie boards,..), walking distances to beaches and shopping/dining places. Fans worked great, kept the place nice and cool!

The view from the lanai is truly gorgeous!! And the lush landscaping made it feel private even though it's surrounded by other condos. The pool, hot tub, and ping pong table down by the water were great. Our host was friendly and quick to respond to all our questions. Convenient location. We will gladly stay here again if/when we come back to the Big Island!

This place is fantastic. A beautiful, spacious condo with a lanai that gazes directly on the ocean. We watched the sunset from the condo, and then walked down to the water's edge for the last glimpses.the condo itself has a full kitchen, bathroom, and a huge bed in the main bedroom. It's a wonderful spot that feels secluded, but it a short drive from anywhere in Konawould stay again

The atmosphere and the view from the Lanai are the best. Very happy with the overall value.

This is our favorite complex in Kona due to beautiful ocean views, lovely pool and meticulous care of the gorgeous landscaping. We also appreciate the low tolerance for noise making it so quiet and relaxing. First time at Jeannette and Micheals unit and we liked it so much we rebooked for next year! Amazing view and property exactly as described. Bedroom is on the parking lot side but we never bothered before noice and the AC was appreciated. Highly recommend.

We are frequent visitors to Kona and have stayed at many of the properties along Ali'i Dr. Kona Macai is one of our favorites due to the vicinity to town and the well maintained grounds. We really liked this unit in paritcular because of how well the kitchen was stacked and the items for the beach. Many STRs have kitchen but have little beyond salt and pepper and it's hard to actually cook a meal. This unit had spices, condiments and everything needed for meal prep. In addition to the kitchen they had beach chais, umbrellas, cooler and it appeared even a SUP. Everything regarding check in and check out was easy.

Enjoyed the central location; Lush gardens; Fitness rooms. Property has well appointed kitchen. We saw whales from the lanai. The sunsets were also spectacular.

This is the second time my husband and I have stayed at Kona Makai; we absolutely love its location and the annual community it hosts. I lived on big island for a long time and it’s a perfect location to walk Alii, get to both Kona town and out of town. This unit, in particular, had an amazing view straight out to the ocean. Was stocked so so well too!!!! Everything was easy, comfortable, homey, and beautiful.

Everything about this stay was smooth sailing. Easy to check in. Loved the lanai and the view, watching the birds and the ocean. Its a very quiet condo complex and the neighbors are friendly - lots gather during sunset down by the water. The bed was supremely comfortable and we slept very well. Great location to explore from! Would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Everything about this place was lovely! Great location right on the water and a very nice view.The only part that was missing was check in instructions with a code to get into the parking lot and instructions on where to park. The gate is normally open but at night it locks, if we hadn't followed a car in we would have been stuck outside. Everything else was very easy and smooth!

We spent most of our time outdoors as this is Hawaii and there is much to do. We are very active so even though the resort is 3Km from downtown it is a very easy walk for us. The place is very clean and Jeanette and Michael are available immediately if you have any questions. The spectacular view from the lanais is nice to enjoy over breakfast or for a glass of wine at sunset. It is beautiful!

Had a great time! Condo has a great view of the lawn with pool and ocean beyond. Location is awesome with town just 5 min drive away. Couldn’t have asked for more for what we paid. No frills, but we didn’t spend much time in the condo anyways.

It was a wonderful stay at the Kona Makai. The place is as described with the wonderful ocean view. My only comment was that it was hard to open the door with the keys and Vrbo didn’t give me a gate code on the arrival instructions. I found that out on the property rules and guidelines once inside the property.

We had a wonderful time in Kona. The condo was a good size for the 2 of us. The bedroom and the living room each have an ac unit which is nice. The view from the living room and back lanai is nice of the gardens and the ocean. Owners were very responsive to any questions we had. We would stay here again.

My wife and I stayed here September 2024 for 4 nights. The property was as advertised and was an incredible location. About a mile walk to shops and restaurants - which was the perfect distance to be close to things, but not be right in the mix. We made the walk multiple times a day. The host was incredibly responsive and always helpful. Not to mention, the view from the lenai was amazing. We would happily stay here again!

The property was perfect for us as we were looking for a place that made it easy for us to travel the west coast of the Big Island. The condo is not far from the downtown Kona area, parking was a breeze, and the condo was stocked with everything we could ever need. An extra bonus was being able to hop in the hot tub after hiking and snorkeling at the Captain Cook monument. We highly recommend this condo for the home base and amenities it provides!

Very much enjoyed my stay. Everything was exactly as described. I really liked the ground floor view framed by the beautiful landscaping. So convenient for getting to and from car. Kitchen had everything I needed and more, even a garlic press. Many personal touches and decorations around the home. I've never had keys on a lanyard before, such a good idea - i didnt lose them once. :-) Morning coffee on balcony and sunsets down at water were perfect.

We had a great stay at this property! Jeanette and Michael had great communication throughout the stay. The grounds are very well kept and peaceful, which allowed us to enjoy the stunning views from the lanai every morning and evening. The property is fully stocked with everything you need. We will be coming back and highly recommend it!

The location of this vacation rental was great. The view of the ocean from the lanai was amazing. The place was cozy and comfortable. Had some issues with the kitchen sink. Heard water bubbling and there was an odor that didn’t smell good.. like black olives or something. The bathroom sink drained slowly. We looked for drain clog remover but couldn’t find any. Thank you

We enjoyed the best stay at the condo! It had everything we needed, was so clean, well taken care of, decorated adorable too, and the best were the fantastic views from the lanai! We enjoyed so many sunrises and beautiful sunsets. We think its the very best condo in the complex and we are so happy we stayed there! Very quiet, clean and secure. The pool and bbq areas are very well maintained. The condo unit is well equipped with unique decor. The free bus to the downtown area for dining was a great bonus.

We found this condo to be a very enjoyable place to stay. The location was very convenient for seeing the sights around the Kona area. The best feature is the view down the grassy garden area to the ocean. The grounds are nicely landscaped and the complex is very quiet and well maintained. The kitchen is well stocked and equipped with everything you will need. We liked that the unit was on the main level for easy access to and from the parking lot. The host Jeanette was very responsive and a pleasure to deal with. Would definitely recommend this place and would stay here again.

Our stay was fantastic! Definitely recommend staying here. Great views, cozy small apartment, just right for the 3 of us, 2 adults and our teen. Communicating with the owners was a breeze. I loved that we could make our own meals everyday and not eat out everyday. The view from the lanai was amazing each day we got up and opened those curtains. Very peaceful. Definitely recommended this property.

We were very happy with the Condo at the Kona Maki. It was cozy and the views were spectacular!!!The complex grounds were very nice, awesome views of the ocean, Whales Breaching, Dolphins swimming by, which makes the stay even better. Jeanette and Michael were very informative with any questions we had and were very prompt with some minor issues that were dealt with promptly. We had a very nice stay!!!

We enjoyed the stay at the rental. It was very well furnished and had everything we needed in the kitchen to make meals. My only issue was that the bedroom faces the parking lot and there is a lot of light coming in at night since the curtains dont block out all the light . The nightlamp opposite the bed is also quite bright and there is no way to turn it off. So if u are someone who cannot sleep easily at night with ambient light, bring an eyemask. The property itself is beautiful and there is a great place overlooking the ocean to watch sunsets

The view from the condo was wonderful! They also had everything we needed for some great beach days, which was very much appreciated. The place was wonderful and communication exceptional. We enjoyed the stay!

We stayed for 8 nights and this was a great place to stay. Great jumping off location to go north, south or east. Easy to navigate to and from a number of places on the island, easy parking, and very clean, well appointed condo. Jeanette was fabulous for answering questions as well. Property has quite a few “rules” but we had no issues with any of them, and everyone around us was super respectful. Community BBQs are great to use at sunset as well! I would highly recommend and hope one day to be back! Mahalo and Merry Christmas!

Stayed at this condo the first week of September 2023. Can’t say enough great things about it. Top things we liked: -View from the balcony is gorgeous -Very quiet community so you can enjoy the peace and quiet -The outdoor lounge seating that’s close to the ocean was amazing, and we almost had it to ourselves every night -The grounds truly do resemble botanical gardens -The unit itself was perfect for the two of us -The washer and dryer in the unit were super convenient -Parking was never an issue, and we felt safe that it was in a gated community -Very conveniently located to the restaurants/shops - would be a bit of a hike to walk to that area of town from the condo, but there’s so much public parking available (for a fee) that it was fine If we ever come back to Kona we would stay here again in a heartbeat. Hosts were easily reachable and friendly, and the check-in/check-out process couldn’t be easier. Highly recommend!

This was a great location for our family. We loved the location. Being able to walk or drive to restaurants and shops was really convenient. The grounds are definitely meant to be a quiet location for guests but that was fine for us. The pool and ocean access was awesome. The sunset views from down by the pool were awesome. We definitely would come back to this spot. The condo had everything thing we needed for a great stay.
