Sugar Beach 217 Front Row Ocean Views in Beautifully Upgraded Beachfront Condo Home

Location was perfect, easy to access all parts of the island, 15-20 minutes from the airport as well. Seriously, a perfect location to central, north, south and east parts of the island (which we visited all car rental friendly areas).The unit was clean and had everything we needed. View was beautiful. Just go down the stairs and out of the gate to get to the beach and take a long morning or evening walk. 1-2 minutes max to get there.Any negatives would be just personal preferences (I didn’t love the stationary shower door). Shower water pressure was good which can be so annoying in a lodging situation when it’s not. Bed and bedding were comfortable and had no issues falling asleep. No unreasonable noise from neighbors, and really only heard anyone when on the patio so no complaints. Would choose to stay there next time without hesitation.

This spot was so disappointing, the pictures given do not accurately represent the unit, specifically the view. They either have a picture of the view from a neighboring unit or a picture from 20 yrs ago. My trip was lovely but I spent the time in the condo tryng to convince myself I was happy with what I paid for. 1/3 of the pictur window is taken up by giant palm not depicted in the listing. The kitchen is noted as updated and the counters are but the remainder definitely is not. The AC does not gmake it's way into the bedroom and for some odd reason the dryer vents into the shower which gets incredibly hot and steamy and inundated with lint. Check in was easy, the host was responsive. The unit was overall not as expected, property and interior were dingy and old. The businesses noted in the listing are no longer open other than a sandwich shop and there is no on site putting green.

Beautiful condo with a beautiful ocean view. The pool area is great with a heated pool, little kids shallow pool, hot tub and sauna. Only gave one star for cleanliness because we happened to be there during big storm and the whole place got flooded and was muddy everywhere during our whole stay. But this kind of storms only happen once in a while. After living in Hawaii for 9 years, this is the first time I’ve witnessed it. I am sure during normal time, it’s clean and beautiful. The unit itself did very well in the storm, it didn’t get flooded as some other units. Also the shower curtain in the bathroom had mold/mildew on it, so it needs to be replaced.

BUYER BEWARE !!! The pictures posted on this listing are NOT accurate! The “ocean view” pictures you see here have either photoshopped out the palm tree in front of the lanai - which blocks 3/4 of the view - or they are so old the tree hadn’t grown. Whatever the reason, this condo view sucks. The “updates” must also be referring to something from 20 years ago as it is not an updated unit. The hot water takes 15 minutes to heat in the bathroom and kitchen and the flooring is old, with a literal hole in the floor between floorboards in the bathroom/bedroom. I never, ever, ever would have rented this place had the listing been accurate. This is a dump - go find an honest listing.

Kihei is a great area and Sugar Beach leaves you in a really good location for venturing around the island: south Kihei/Wailea, the west side, Ma’alaea, Wailuku/Kahului, the north shore- all easily traveled to from this area. The location is also great for whale watching in the winter months. Pool and common areas were nice, and do check out SBBS and their malasadas just down the road.A few things about this rental- not a huge fan of the paltry amount of toilet paper and toiletries in general. “Starter pack” is silly and kinda greedy, even if it’s become more prevalent with these rentals. Also, as somebody else mentioned, the view is partially obstructed due to a fairly unnecessary large planting right in front of the unit (not shown in the listing). Finally, describing this unit as “beautifully upgraded” is diabolical. It is older and a bit tired, too few electrical outlets, walls were dirty, appliances super old with the ice maker in the freezer not functional. It was a totally adequate unit and hit the right notes for location and ease of use, and was pretty fairly priced. But in hindsight I find the listing to be somewhat dishonest. Not saying we wouldn’t stay there again, but be warned.

Other reviews talk about a spectacular sunset from the lanai and we didn't realize the sunset is mostly blocked. The unit needs a paint job/walls need a clean. The beach is super windy and water was rough infront. Snorkeling wasn't really possible. There was only one roll of toilet paper (we had to buy more). But the bed was extremely comfortable and the bakery close to it was amazing. Beach front was great.

The view was awesome and enjoyed our stay.

Unit we stayed in could use some TLC and deep cleaning. Pool and beach are great. Have already booked for next year but selected a different unit.

Clean and comfortable ocean front property that was well maintained. The sheets were so soft! The view was beautiful and Sugar Beach Resort is a great quiet property. We had one toilet issue that property management had someone out to work on it in less than 2 hours.

Clean.Comfortable. Great view from lanai. Suggested improvements:New toilet flush. Took two hands to flush. Not good, absolutely should be replaced/easy.Living room couch and chair were somewhat sticky..?/tiredBathroom fan and dryer not optimal. Followed instructions…still lint in the shower after each load. Not complaints, just…I would at least fix the toilet..Otherwise. Great placeThanks

Beautiful view , clean and confortable.

We had a very layed back, quiet, relaxing stay. We loved the ocean view access and the sound of waves. The condo had everything we needed. The location was great. The beach was beautiful. Walking distance to a local bakery and coffee place. We enjoyed our low-keyvacation

First time staying in Kihei. Easy to figure out directions. Liked closeness to Airport. A rental car is necessary! Locals friendly! Our buggest complaint is at check in desk unfriendly and not helpful at all. Also,not ever being able to reach anyone by phone when issues came up. Not even able to leave a message.was frustrating.

It was a great spot to watch the ocean from the comfort of our room and easy to get to anywhere we wanted from there.

We really enjoyed staying on sugar beach. The condo had amazing views, pool was nice, beach was close. The building was older but clean and the kitchen had all the things we needed to be comfortable. Unfortunately it was midge season. Millions of dead bugs but the property manager brought us a bug zapper and they were easy to clean up.

Would have easily rated 5-Star, but we had ants in the condo. We even cleaned the entire condo making sure no food or anything was around. It seems like one of the locked cabinets may have had something they like, since we kept seeing them around there.

This condo was beyond my expectations. The beach was amazing and the views from the lanai were out of this world. We used the bbq area most evenings and to see maintenance scouring them each morning was good to see. The girls at the concierge desk we so friendly and very helpful. We will definitely return

It was perfectly depicted in the pictures. The unit is slightly dated ..but who cares! The ocean is right at your doorstep. The beach is lovely, the unit is very clean, the lock code made it easy to access and parking was a breeze
