We had a wonderful week after Christmas at the Lodge at Kahalo. We are three generations of family (ages 5 - 79) who frequently vacation together around Christmas. This was one of our favorites! The house was very comfortable for our large group. There were multiple comfortable spots for people to be alone or together both inside and outside (game room, porch, hot tub, living room). Someone was always in the hot tub (text Kaili and she will turn it on remotely so it is warm when you get back from the volcano or beach). Beds were very comfortable. Plenty of towels and supplies to start. Kitchen was well equipped for cooking with our foodie crew - and plenty of plates and tableware so that we could eat without washing up constantly. The Blackstone grill was a hit - we ended up using it for breakfasts and dinners (perfect for making okonomiyaki!). The house is at 2500 feet elevation, so is about 10 -15 degrees cooler than the 85 degree beach nearby. We loved the tranquility and beautiful sunsets from the hot tub. We could have been happy spending all our time at the house, but ended up exploring the island most days. There is a fantastic beach about 15 min away, but the beaches we liked the best were further. Hilo is 1hour. Two-step snorkeling is 45 min (spinner dolphins swam up to us even though we were told to stay away from them!) Driving was an enjoyable way to see the different micro environments of the island. The manager Kaili was very responsive and thoughtful.

BREATHTAKING is the word we all used to describe this property! This home is beautiful and is equipped with EVERYTHING! We had 9 in our group, including our 2 year old granddaughter. Each couple enjoyed the privacy of a suite bedroom with a comfortable bed. Our granddaughter enjoyed playing in the bunk room and loved the daybed so much that her parents are buying one. At the end of each day, we enjoyed catching up around the fire pit and watching the stunning sunsets from the hot tub and pool. Such a treat after a long day exploring the island. Kaili Walters is a wonderful host. She treated us with kindness and responded quickly to all questions. She also offered ideas for excursions, which we appreciated.Staying at the lodge elevated our dream vacation and we will never forget our time together in Hawaii.

Amazing property, very beautifully curated. Responsive, wonderful host. This home was everything and more that we hoped for our 16 family members celebrating a big birthday. House is fully stocked for everything you need, including kitchen essentials, laundry, pool and beach towels, beach gear. Kaili is a wonderful, helpful host. Always super responsive and offered tips on things to do on the island. Hope to be back one day!

We had a wonderful stay at the Lodge. Three generations of our family seemed to enjoy it equally. Kaili responded quickly to all communications and replaced a defective microwave within 2 hours of notice. Highly recommended!

We brought our whole family of 14 with ages 7-70 here to celebrate our 50 years of marriage and everyone had a wonderful, so good, beautiful time. The house was perfect for a large group. We cooked almost every night in the large gourmet kitchen with all the stylish serving dishes, small appliances including a kitchen aid mixer, and a double oven. We even hired a chef they recommended for the last night to celebrate in style- Kylee! You have a great place for kids, with a hot tub, pool and basketball court. They even used the work out room and weights several times with Uncles and dads assisting. Everyone could watch movies up stairs in the evenings. With the gate it's very secure and parked 3-4 vehicles easily in driveway. The view was amazing and even in the rain the kids enjoyed the pool! I highly recommend this place. It can be hot down on the beach but it's beautifully cool up high. On clear evenings the sunset is fantastic. It was close to hiking, and not far to airport or town. We would come back anytime! Any issues you might encounter, the owner quickly responds. What a great VRBO!

Where to start?! The pictures, which are nothing short of amazing, still do not do this home justice. Every nook and cranny has been considered, making every room a place you just want to cozy up in. With 8 adults and 3 children, there was plenty of space to never feel cramped. The host is as amazing as the property itself, prompt to respond and offer tips and recommendations. The pool is solar heated. You must request the hot tub to be heated each day of your stay in advance and that takes a few hours. It also auto shuts off after 4 hours. So, that takes some planning on your end to ensure it is ready when you would like it to be; but, it was doable. The home is stocked with nearly everything you need at the home and for the beach- so no need to overpack! I can't thank the owner enough for contributing to such a memorable family vacation.

A beautiful, well kept home. Our extended family (ages 20 - 82) have stayed together on many vacations. We've never seen a place so well appointed. We cook/eat in some nights on vacations. The kitchen had everything. The host could not have been more accommodating and responsive.

Youngest 12 to oldest 82 family gathering in a home that was more home than a rental. Beautifully appointed but very homey. Plenty of room for group function's and meals but areas to get off to be alone. Beautiful wooded surroundings. All 9 of the group said would love to return. Tips from the host on things to see and do was greatly appreciated.

The hosts were incredibly hospitable and very responsive. The home is beautiful and we especially loved the ease of indoor/outdoor living provided by the large sliding glass doors that open up the back wall of the living room. The temperatures on the mountainside were just a bit cooler in the morning and evening than on the beach, which was absolutely perfect for us. The property is absolutely beautiful with lush greenery everywhere while also offering a gorgeous view of the ocean in the distance. We truly enjoyed our family getaway! Thank you!

Reason for the delayed response is we don’t know where to begin. The whole experience of renting the Lodge at Kaloko was something you do once in a lifetime. Kaili, home owner was great to work with. She was very receptive to our asks, needs or wants. We would highly recommend this location if you are ever trading to Kona, Hawaii.

The lodge is tucked away on the mountain side allowing close access to all activities in Kona. This allows for a cooler and relaxing atmosphere to unwind after soaking up the sun at the beach during the day. Our family of 16 enjoyed a fabulous stay at the lodge. The description and pictures showed the property and furnishings exact. The home was exceptionally clean and well taken care of......felt right at home immediately. The host did a phenomenal job in quickly responding to every question, making suggestions, giving recommendations and ensuring our stay was going well. The house fit our family of 16 perfectly. Each of the 5 families had their own private space with comfortable beds and bedding. The common gathering spaces were large enough to fit us all comfortably. The pool entertained the little ones while the adults enjoyed the fire pit. (pool temp was a bit chilly but kids didn't mind) The nights were cool and quiet, allowing for relaxation and rest. By day, you could see many birds and by night you could hear the coqui frogs and watch the sunset. Beaches, coffee plantations and Costco were close by!

We are a group of adult divers who came to Kona for a dive vacation. This is our third time doing this, and this house was far and away the best. The location is wonderful-

We had an amazing family time, full of great memories. We travel widely and incessantly, and I can't say enough good things! This is a spectacular property, with ocean views and a beautiful patio, pool, and hot tub. The kids wanted to live in the pool! Cleanliness was impeccable, even for my perfectionistic wife and adult children. Lots of room for people to spread out and have their own introvert space, but places where we all gathered together (lanai patio, living room, fire pit). The young kids had their own movie night upstairs (Moana and Lilo and Stitch) in front of the huge TV. Sunsets were amazing! Nights give a cool break from the sun of the beach and we had gentle rain a few times. There is real privacy here, with flowers and trees nestling around you. The birds sang each day, the frogs quietly opened the night, the roosters down the hill welcomed us each dawn. Overall, there is a deep sense of peace at this property which was tangible. Ka'ili, our owner and host, had provided anything we could need in a well-decorated but family friendly decor. The kitchen was modern, stocked, and used a ton! (Costco). She was immediately responsive to any questions which came up and gave us a list of great restaurants and beaches. Our favorite times were teaching the children to snorkel, our manta ray snorkeling cruise (a must!), times at the Lava Lava Beach Club beach (worth the 25-minute drive). We are already hoping for a repeat next year. Yep. That good.
