We welcome you to stay at our private luxury home (Ono Hale) in the lush hills above historic Kailua Kona. Located just minutes from town and Kona’s beautiful sandy beaches.
Cool and quiet. Ono Hale is situated on a very private lot on a quiet street at a perfect 750 ft elevation for ideal warm days and cool nights year round! At nearly 2800 finished sqft, the house sits on just over 1/3 acre that is fabulously landscaped with blossoming tropical flora. This 3 bedroom (2 King, 1 Queen) 2.5 bath home enjoys drop dead gorgeous panoramic ocean views with a 6 ft deep pool. Ono Hale is decorated with Brazilian cherry hardwood floors, quartzite stone tile, granite countertops, travertine tile and teak cabinetry. The high end finishes, open floor plan and tongue and groove vaulted wood ceilings create the environment for an incredible vacation getaway. If that sounds good, wait until you see the amazing covered lanai that stretches the whole length of the house! There is also a separate private lanai off the Master suite, the perfect place to enjoy your morning Kona coffee.
There is a fully equipped kitchen which opens up to the main living space and the stunning lanai. The kitchen is stocked with basic necessities, large fridge/freezer, gas stove, oven, microwave and dishwasher. The closet is stocked with snorkel gear, beach chairs, beach towels and a cooler for relaxing at the beach. The home has cable television and also offers free wireless internet.

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was more than happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The home shows it has 3 tv’s although there is only 2. One in the living room and one in the master room. The home does have a chest in the front full of pool items and scuba items. The property was clean except for a molded container on the top fridge. I would recommend this property but be advised there are a lot of stairs in the home and the drive way is a very steep hill which can be difficult to maneuver. Lots of bugs but it’s given in Hawaii, make sure to apply bug spray. The lanai is the BEST part of this home.
A lot of stairs to climb in order to reach the main level of the living area which was not mentioned in the living details.Had a horrible ant problem.Main living room area furniture was very uncomfortable and not what was shown in the original pictures.
We’re a family of five and we found lots to enjoy at the house and Kona area. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked and there is a lot of seating options inside and out. The Lanai is huge and has very beautiful views of the coastline and downtown Kona. The pool is very private and a good size for everyone to enjoy. The location is a 10 minute drive to the main tourist centre of Kona or to Keahou bay, where many tours operate from, including the Manta night snorkel.We would stay here again.
Don't waist your $$$ not something I would ever recommend
Sunsets, sunsets, sunsets!!!! Thar Ono Hale house was perfect for our family stay. We had 3 generations of family members on this trip and the house accommodated everyone's needs. The kiddos loved the pool and the large lani was perfect to watch over them. The location of the house is within a very short drive to shopping, beaches and groceries. The weather was perfect with the slight breeze moving throughout the house. I was fortunate enough to live on the big island years ago and have always loved the Kona side. The views this house provides makes me wanna move back. Mahalo Ono Hale house. The Ballard family.

Loved the view, location and beauty of the house. Perfect areas to enjoy outside and the pool. Being met at the property was nice as well. Not ideal for older family members as the stairs are a lot- as well as the driveway. However perfect for our family needs.

The sunsets were spectacular, the house spacious, wonderful lanais, lots of good beach and pool toys, and the private pool was great for our grandkids. Be aware that the driveway can be daunting, and longer wheelbase vehicles like minivans are not suited to go to the upper level. The kitchen was well-stocked, although all the knives were pretty dull, it would be good to have at least one sharp knife for cooking. Our big complaint is that the house is advertised as sleeping 8, including two on a sleeper sofa. The sleeper sofa is horrible, really unusable as a bed, and needs to be replaced. And there were eight of us, including two little ones. Fortunately Knutson's managers were great, really considerate and responsive to the situation, and got us foam pads and bedding for the little ones. If you have 8 adults in your party, make sure the sleeper sofa has been replaced!
We stayed at Ono Hale for 3 weeks on our recent trip to the Big Island and must say that it was a fantastic trip. We were greeted by a member of the Property Management group who gave us quick rundown(no more than 10 min) it was great. Lots of items to use at the beach and must say the we have not stayed at a rental that had so many different appliances to use. You certainly do not want for anything to prepare a dinner. The sunset views from the Lanai are fantastic. We would actually schedule our days to sit and watch them. We quite enjoyed the pool area and spent time in the pool as well. It is refreshing on a hot day to cool off. The house itself is very spacious and very relaxing. We had read comments on the stairs, however no one in our group had an issue and two actually are awaiting knee surgery. The Property Management group was also incredible. On our second last day the coffee machine quit working and within an hour there was a new one dropped off even though we had said not to worry about bringing a new one. Great service!! We would definitely stay at Ono Hale again.

On stepping through the door, the first thing that I noticed were scratches on the floor. The hardwood floor was magnificent, but the scratches really stood out. Theses scratches have been caused by people moving furniture. My guess is that non-family types have been renting this house, riding it hard and putting it away wet. Similarly, in the kitchen, the white range, refrigerator and sink all have visible scratches. These could easily be touched up with bathtub porcelain repair paint. There were also small paint scratches on walls that could be easily touched up. The toilet seat in the master bedroom was visibly warn and discoloured. Many stains are carpets.It the totality of the circumstatnces, these defects are miniscule. The issue it that the property is so nice that the minor issues do stand out.The house has a great layout. Lots of space both inside and on the lanai. The pool area is great as well. The only negative being that it was unheated. Air temperatures were in the low 80's as was the pool. You had to be hot to go in (January). We could not find any lighting in the pool area. It would have been nice to use at night. I did find at a later time, underwater lights in the pool but no one could tell me how to turn them on. There were some pool and beach toys & chairs. Two masks, both broken.The house is not air conditioned. Generally there is a nice breeze. As long as the house is opened up, it is well ventilated. There was one night that was very still that we wished that there was AC.For such a large property, the propane grill was quite small. It worked, but had the typical hot/cold spots. I wouldn't have put good steaks on it as they would have been difficult to cook.The property was very clean.I would stay here again. There are many small things that don
