vrKCV - Kona Bay Estates Hale Kai Olu, Professionally Managed by Kona Coast Vacations
Welcome to Hale Kai Olu – A Classic Oceanfront Retreat
Peaceful, private, and truly special, Hale Kai Olu is a custom-built oceanfront home in Kailua-Kona that feels like a real home—not a resort. Set within a gated oceanfront community with 24-hour security, this well-loved property offers generous space, direct shoreline access, and sweeping ocean views toward Kona Village.
While the community itself is gated, beaches in Hawaiʻi are public by law. Guests enjoy easy access to the shoreline and can walk along the coast while still benefiting from the privacy, security, and quiet atmosphere of this unique neighborhood.
The true value of Hale Kai Olu lies in its unbeatable oceanfront location, spacious layout, and serene surroundings. It's an ideal choice for guests looking for an authentic Hawaiʻi experience—one rooted in comfort, character, and a deep connection to the ocean rather than a modern resort-style stay.
This home has been cherished by the same family for many years and was where the owners raised their children. Designed by an architect known for capturing the island's natural trade winds, the home stays comfortable most of the year with only rare need for air conditioning. These walls have seen laughter, celebrations, and countless sunsets, and now the home is ready to welcome guests to create their own memories. Experience the charm of early 2000s Hawaiian architecture in this meticulously maintained custom-built family home. Hale Kai Olu offers the perfect blend of modern comfort, spacious functional design, and timeless charm, featuring a bright open-concept floor plan, generous room sizes, and original one-of-a-kind artisanal koa wood details throughout.

Everything about this home and property were wonderful.
The house was clean and in great condition. The location is private, close to the Keiki pond and has stunning views of the ocean as well as Kona. All in all very good value. One note, the pool is very deep, 6/7’, and does not have a section that’s shallow. We had toddlers and young kids so we had to be hyper vigilant around the pool. Also the hot tub is only heated for three hours out of the day, from 6-9pm. There is no access to the controller.

This property was just right for our family of 10 ranging in age of 3-68! Pool/hot tub was a highlight for us all. Keiki beach a short walk away. House was just the right size for all to have privacy and togetherness.
Our family absolutely loved this home!! A beautiful relaxing “home” that you will not want to leave. Only disappointment was a broken hammock and the photos showed 2 as well (only 1 & broken). The home has an amazing layout and accommodates a large family/group very well.
First of all, my family and I really enjoyed our time at the property. We were there for a variety of occasions including anniversaries, birthdays, and my recent retirement. We had nine people ranging from us, the grandparents, to children aged eight to 18 months. The home and it's ohana (guesthouse), easily accommodated the group. The home itself was functional, but the the staged photos on the website are much nicer than we experienced. In addition, the ohana needed to be cleaned when we arrived. They supplied plenty of towels, the kitchen well stocked, but very dated. The location was incredible, and made it easy to overlook some of the challenges and the management company was very attentive to all of our needs.
We spent a long time dreaming of our family’s week in this home, based on the description there was a lot to be excited about! It was better than described. The house was beautiful and clean and somehow bigger than described. There was plenty of space for our multigenerational family of 8. There is a gorgeous beach that you can walk to, but honestly I’d have been happy to never leave the property, some in our party hardly did. Sitting outside looking at the water, the air smells of flowers. Its heavenly. Highly recommend.
Our extended family of eight enjoyed this property immensely! It is situated on the oceanfront with a gorgeous ocean view and has a Sandy little beach with a hammock which the kids loved playing in with their sand toys. There is a short walking wall before you get to the oceanfront. The wall is a one and a half mile walk which we enjoyed doing every day. The kids enjoyed the pool, and the adults enjoyed the spa in the evenings between six and eight when it was heated. There is a beautiful covered lanai which we enjoyed throughout the day. There is a closet right there on the patio that has beach and pool toys, and chairs for your use. This house has a very well stocked kitchen. There are pots and pans, utensils, glasses and dishes galore. The living room is very large with enough Seating for all of us. With the way the bedrooms are situated and the guest house as an additional sleeping area, we were all able to spread out and not get in each other’s way. There are six possible sleeping rooms on this property. Five of them are absolutely perfect. One of them on the main level has a double bed but is a very warm room. We utilized the attached bathroom but not the bed. All other bedrooms are great! We love that this property is within walking distance to historic Kailua-Kona district (if you have no mobility issues.). We loved Kai’s Eats and Huggo’s, both oceanfront. We enjoyed lunch at Kona brewing which has a tropical garden outdoor eating area. 5 star property in all!
The decor was amazing! The pool is smaller than it appears in the photos but we really enjoyed this home.
The location of this house is perhaps the best you can find. Within the gated community, on the ocean and walking distance from town... just not sure you can find this combo anywhere else. We were a group of colleagues who enjoyed our stay here. The sunsets on the back porch or from the pool were epic. Note to future guests, what appears to be a hot tub in the photos is actually only heated for two hours (6-8pm) a day. We'd definitely come back!
Our stay at this beautiful property was a dream come true! There were nine adults and one toddler and not once were we lacking for space. We took full advantage of the outdoor pool area, the bbq and the nearby Keiki beach. Each morning we were in the pool around 7 am , we went sightseeing after breakfast and returned in the afternoon to go back in the pool or to the beach and cooked dinner for everyone in the well stocked kitchen. We got the chance to get to know our new Australian ohana and celebrate all of us being together. What a memorable vacation! Thank you for the chance to let us come together under your roof and to enjoy the island of Hawaii!
We stayed with another family whilst fishing a tournament that left everyday from the local pier. We happily and easily walked it which made life so much easier! You can walk easily to the main street of restaurants but UBERS were also very easy to get. The house was spoilt for choice with rooms. We did find the downstairs bedroom allthough large in itself the bed size was more like a double. Not a queen. The pool and proximity to the beach is definitely the highlight! Kitchen is well equipped just needs some sharp knives or steak knives! We also only found a few pool towels which they requested you use over the bathroom towels (there were plenty of those!) Lastly it has a "hot tub" but it doesnt get hot! The property is in a gated community and makes you feel so safe. We really did have such a good time and we would go back in a heartbeat.
