Property Overview

This charming unit sleeps 4. It gets its name, ‘OLU ’OLU, from the unique ‘olu ’olu (pleasant and refreshing) energy you will experience. The bedroom has a new memory foam King-sized bed and the living room has a Queen-sized sleeper sofa. This unit is bright, clean, and open, and just a few steps to the refreshing pool, a spacious hot tub, and Weber grills. It features a fully stocked kitchen with dishes, flatware, cookware and appliances. The lovely lanai setting with table and chairs, is perfect for enjoying your meals or morning coffee. Free internet & cable TV included. Enjoy ultra-fast 500 Mbps download speeds, perfect for seamless 4K streaming, gaming, and remote work on multiple devices. Our reliable connection ensures each guest stays connected with ease, providing the bandwidth needed for smooth video conferencing and professional tasks. Extra-large washer and dryers are conveniently located near the unit and operated by an easy-to-use App, PayRange, which notifies you when your laundry cycle is complete. We have included a laundry hamper for use, which is located in the bedroom closet.

At Olu ’olu you’ll appreciate an open floorplan, featuring a bright and airy living room with sustainable bamboo floors, a flat-screen TV with cable, high-speed internet, and a collection of our favorite guide books of Hawaii.

You’ll find a fully stocked kitchen, with a full-sized refrigerator and freezer, an oven with range, toaster, BBQ tools, a microwave, and all the pots and pans, plates/cups/utensils, you’ll need to prepare a meal. We also have a coffee maker, tea pot, and suggest having your morning beverage outside on our lanai!

Our kitchen has a swing-out island with folding stools, which may serve as a cozy spot to enjoy cocktails as you keep your ‘chef’ company. Guests love how convenient it is to prep food in the kitchen, stroll out the sliding glass door, and grill by the pool.

The bedroom has a brand new King-size memory foam mattress – you will melt into a deep sleep after your hike, or round of golf, or book-reading marathon by the pool. The bedroom has great views of native Hawaiian plants and flowers, and has a spacious chest of drawers in the closet, which will allow you to unpack your personal belongings. Also inside the closet you will have access to extra bedding, beach towels, beach cooler, an iron, an ironing board, a laundry hamper and plenty of hangers. Please note - this is considered a studio, as there is no closing door to the bedroom.

The bathroom has a Honu (Hawaiian sea turtle) inspired walk-in marble shower, with bathing gel, shampoo, and conditioner. We’ve installed a new water heater, so you’ll have a steamy hot shower after your adventures at Punalu‘u Beach Black Sands Beach, Volcano National Park, and Papakolea Green Sands Beach.

The private lanai is a wonderful spot to have your meals, coffee, or flip through a magazine. We also have a private outdoor hose, which is perfect for washing sand off from your feet and beach gear!

The Sea Mountain resort has a Polynesian-inspired architecture and impeccably kept grounds. You’ll find yourself getting lost in the views – a breathtaking mix of the golf course green fields and trees, dramatic lava, and an expressive Pacific ocean.

The pool and spa area offer comfortable loungers and tables for dining (or playing cards), two gas grills, outdoor showers, multi-stall restrooms, an ice machine, and a waterfall/pond that is home to koi fish. The sizable spa/jacuzzi is built with lava rock, incorporating the view before which it sits, and adding to an unparalleled aesthetic. At any time of the day or evening, the pool and jacuzzi offer a unique view, with the ever-changing Pacific ocean as a stunning backdrop.

Nearby the unit you have access to a laundry facility, with washers and dryers operated an easy-to-use App, PayRange (also, quarters may be used to operate laundry).

Our resort is known for its proximity to Punalu’u Beach, with its famous Black Sand Beach, luscious palm trees, surrounding lily pond and frequent visits from Honu (green sea turtles). Snorkel, swim, play in a tide pool, lay back and read your favorite book, or people-watch under the shade of a palm tree.

A short walk in front of the resort and you’ll find your very own private beach, a magical spot to bring a charcuterie board and watch the waves and abundant marine life (it is not recommended to swim here – strong currents and rocky shoreline).

‘Olu‘olu is a truly remarkable place, providing both a serene and energetic environment unlike anywhere else on the planet. We happily welcome you to our home and look forward to hearing all about the discoveries you make on your journey.

It was a perfect set up for our little family, however if your looking for something fancy or luxerulious I wouldn't necessarily recommend. Some of the furniture and appliances were outdated which was fine for us so we didn't have to stress about our young children ruining anything expensive. For the most part the place was quiet, if there is children or party people in the condo upstairs you can hear their footsteps. The shower was nicely tiled and large. The kitchen had everything we needed. There was a pack and play and towels included. There is not air conditioning, there was a couple large fans that we let up in front of the open windows. The pool is only a couple minute walk away, and the hot tub was so nice. However you have to drive down to punaluu black sands unless you want a long walk down a road. There is a older coin operated washer and dryer around the corner. All in all we would stay here again!

As advertised, but there were a few issues that need to be addressed. The bedroom blinds would not close all the way and there were a few other broken items that we sent an email to the owners about but got no reply. Also someone came and locked the bathrooms at the pool at 1:30PM while we were sitting there. Strange.

We had everything we needed. Very quiet complex. Super sweet neighbors! Wonderful place for a relaxing couple of days. The walk to the Black sand beach was short & very worth the steps!! Black sand beach and turtles were amazing!! Enjoyed our stay immensely. Thank you.

The location was amazing! The pool and hot tub were wonderful. The condo itself needed maintenance. Some of the dishes in the cabinets were not cleaned and the main kitchen utensil drawer was missing a knob. The bedroom door would not stay shut as the louver doors did not stay on the track, the back porch was wonderful but needs four chairs not just two. We liked that they had several fans in the unit and chairs and umbrella for the beach. Check-in was easy..

Fridge was very noisy- sounded like a jet plane taking off- Bi-fold door needs to be better secured when close- breeze keep blowing it open & close- disturbed sleep as there were high winds, in area, for 4 days. Followed check-in procedures , when we got to condo- no keys in lockbox, finally found out that checkin procedures had changed- called housekeeper & finally got in. Contacted property manger who informed me of the new procedures, of which I had not been informed of the change. We will be returning to area in near future as we have family there. Will seal another condo.

Small hiccup with checkin, but the property manager quickly resolved the issue. Heat of summer is tough, trade winds weren’t quite enough for us but we managed to rest and sleep well. Bring something from Kona to grill, there isn’t much around the area for resupply (as the description states). Overall, a great place to see the black sand beaches and south point.

We had a great stay here and were able to just walk over to the Punulu'u black sand beach in a few minutes and hang out with some sea turtles. Definitely one of my favorite places to visit in Hawaii! The place was clean and had everything we needed even though we mostly just slept there and were out most of the day, but everything was very comfortable. It was only 30 minutes from the volcano area and also close to the south point and green sand beach. There isn't an a/c but we didn't need it, the ceiling fans were sufficient and we didn't even have to employ the other fans that were available. We would happily stay there again if we are in the area.
