The drive into this place is very steep, glad we had an suv… getting in and out of parking area is tight… good shower, need more towels and washcloths, beach towels smelled like fish, mattress cover and pillows need to be bleached, rug needs to be cleaned, slept with doors and windows open to get some air movement, there are fans in the bedroom, chairs in living room are very uncomfortable, no view, outside trash and parking area need cleared and cleaned up…
The drive into this place is very sketchy and very steep, glad we had an SUV… the manager needs to put a unit number on the VRBO site, we didn’t know where to go… backing out of driveway very tight… kitchen was adequate, shower was decent BUT not enough towels and washcloths, need to bleach the mattress cover and pillows, beach towels in closet smelled like fish, no good laundry option, living room chairs uncomfortable, lots of outdoor noises since we had to leave the doors and windows open to get any air flow since it was hot… no view, need to trim the trees and clean up the driveway and garbage cans
The property itself is nice, even charming.Pros:Bed is very comfortable, easy to access with heavy luggage. Excellent view. Cons:Towels were sour smelling - one smelled like tea.. as if someone had used it for cleaning before folding it back up again. The sour smell actually put us off on showering. One pillow smelled as well - like greasy hair.Blinds/furninture. The blinds were functional, but old and damaged/falling apart. We couldn't get the one in the bedroom to raise/lower properly. With that and the old look of them it made the whole property feel old.The two chairs in the living room are very uncomfortable and stiff. No way to relax after a day out. They also have a feeling of being old. The carpet - seemed like it hadn't been vacuumed, and lots of gravel gets tracked in from the back porch. The back porch/Lanai - has a great view, but stays wet since the eaves only barely cover the edge. This also causes 'shingle dirt' to be present, which gets tracked inside. The outside round table is round and too big for the porch and difficult to squeeze by - seems like a square table would be much better. The caretaker lives in the next unit, and introduced himself during the stay, which was nice. Unfortunately he is not the contact on the listing (Don Winnie is the contact, with a CA number) - Don did not reply to a pre check-in email with a question. In summary, it feels like minimum effort is put into guest comfort.
Very steep driveway, your car can bottom out. Park above the house if you arrive in the dark Nice view and deck.
Cozy space. Easy access to Kona and roads around the island. Suited our purpose.
The check-in was fine, very clear instructions for both getting to the house and entering. A nice location away from the coast, which is in a quiet neighborhood. For a short stay this was fine for us. It's not close to beaches - if you enjoy swimming daily, it's about 30 minutes drive to a swimming beach. The bathroom and kitchen were clean. But the upholstered furniture needed vacuuming. I was disappointed that the toilet ran repeatedly all night, with periodic stops. Difficult to sleep if a light sleeper. Although the place had a full stove and refrigerator, there was no place to prepare food or dry dishes (and no towels for drying either), so the kitchen is more ideal for re-heating frozen or left over food.
Very comfortable and would stay there again.
We were here to work, and the property was pleasant and quiet. The only drawback was poor internet.
We enjoyed our stay and would visit again. Our host was a great communicator which really helped our stay flow easily and go smoothly. It's an interesting location at an elevation around 1,200ft above the airport, which keeps the place cool at night – no heating or AC needed. We enjoyed staying in the heart of the Kona coffee district and enjoyed visiting Monarch Coffee and Hala Coffee– both farms are well worth a visit. You will need a car to drive up there, and if there are other guests in the unit next door, you will hear them since the walls are thin. Overall, it’s a nice rental- perfect for two people, well situated near town with a stellar view of the ocean! We are looking forward to a return trip soon.
The place was super cute with a nice view and friendly wild cats in the area. Not near beach but still very nice! The driveway was not ideal. We spent a while trying to get out the first day cause the other ppl staying in the unit next to us blocked off the usable exit pathway. In the future it would be nice if ppl staying at the property had instructions on how to park on the steep driveway so everyone could come and go instead of just 1 car. Other than that I was very happy with the experience! The bed was comfortable, the property clearly gets professionally cleaned out after all visitors, and it was beautiful there!
The property itself was very nice. It was a long drive to everywhere, so we put lots of miles on our rental vehicle. The parking area for our unit needed a little help. Large holes next to the concrete cause our vehicle to bottom out almost every time we came in. We did really like the property and the view was great! This is not a rental for you if you want to be close to the beach!
Some charm, cool evenings, relatively close to stores and activities, This property needs some TLC and attention to details to be up to standards it would not be a first choice for me.
