Hale Vu is a luxurious multi-level gated home with unimpeded panoramic ocean view from every floor. The 3rd floor balcony and top 2 floor lanais have glass panels, so nothing blocks your view while lounging on the deck or relaxing on the balcony. The roof-top crow’s nest is perfect for sunbathing or watching whales migrate right off-shore. Below the house are lava tide pools teaming with sea life, where you can spot green turtles most of the time from 2nd and 3rd floor lanais, right outside living room's floor-to-ceiling windows or from 4th floor roof-top. Both lots on either side of the house are vacant, providing complete privacy. Nighttime star watching is an entirely new experience as there is little ambient light in the immediate area.
3 beautifully appointed bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms, with oceanfront master suite offers breathtaking ocean views and lanai access. Waking up to spectacular sunrises, sound of crashing waves and the ocean breeze, is heavenly. In the master bedroom is a king size, iComfort® split adjustable bed with massage settings. The second bedroom also has a king size bed, and the third bedroom has two twin beds.
The kitchen is well stocked with appliances and utensils for comfortable family meals when you are not out exploring the island. A full laundry room provides large washing machine and dryer for your conveniences. Free WIFI access. Two-car parking in garage inside gate.
Our caretaker for the home is diligent in making your stay at Hale Vu an unforgettable experience. Thom also lives nearby and has in-depth tips and recommendations to local activities, dining and area guides.

Thom, the property manager, was very friendly and helpful. He recommended several places to visit and restaurants that were perfect for our trip. The house was beautiful and had everything we needed to feel comfortable. We actually loved the open-air environment! The views were incredible. We saw turtles and whales almost everyday from the rooftop and dolphins on one occasion. We would definitely stay here again if our travels bring us back to Hawaii.
Beautiful views. Lovely house.
The property is great. Well appointed, memorable views and an amazing property manager - Thom is helpful, knowledgeable and welcoming. Highly recommend this property as it will always be a wonderful memory for my family and I.
Great location and property, and Thom was very helpful.
Wonderful stay. Would love to return someday. Can still hear the waves crashing into the rocks below.
House is located right next to a popular lookout point. People would either drive up or walk to the edge and sometimes stay for hours. Never was a bother to us. Nice neighborhood, easy to find.
We really enjoyed staying at this oceanfront home. We were greeted by Thom on the first day and he was very helpful not only with giving us a tour of the home, but giving us insight into the local things to do and places to eat. The view from the home was incredible. Only home in that area along the ocean where we were able to watch sea turtles down below from the open deck on the top floor. I highly recommend this home if you’re looking for a great view, beautiful home and seclusion.
The location was truly spectacular with the ocean right below the property. The lanai on the top floor was perfect for sunbathing and enjoying the waves. The neighborhood was quiet with just the morning dogs reacting to each other-just as we are used to at home. Thom, the caretaker, was very helpful and the market he recommended in Pahoa was great.
Our family had a fantastic stay. It was a perfect place to relax and enjoy the ocean.
Spectacular ocean views from almost every corner of house with beautiful sun rises in peaceful local neighborhood. I have stayed at this property maybe 5 times over 7 yrs, owner very helpful, has property manger meet & greet for stay who
This property has perhaps the most dramatic ocean views of any place I have stayed. Property manager was very nice and responsive with questions and issues.
Gorgeous property right on the water
The view at this property is worth it all. The crashing waves, the whale sightings, and the stars at night that filled the sky beyond what you can imagine. Simply beautiful!!! There is nothing better than that first cup of coffee in the morning watching the sun rise. We got to do that most every morning (with the exception of when it rained). The house itself has a few maintenance issues that come from the wear and tear of being so close to the ocean and in direct line of the salty sprays from the waves crashing onto the beautiful rocks. The owners graciously received our feedback and plan to address those areas of concern. The property manager was incredibly helpful and met us at the house when we arrived, giving us a tour of the home. In the final days of our visit, Mother Nature presented the island with a major winter storm and our power was out for nearly 34 hours. Thom brought candles and flashlights to help us endure the dark nights and we considered this time an adventure. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this home and are grateful for the support our hosts/Thom provided both before, during and after the storm. Thank you for sharing your home with us.
Great location with fabulous ocean views and all that you’d expect being on the ocean. Looking forward to a future stay!
location is absolutely beautiful, quiet and off the beaten path, a great place to go and relax and listen to the waves.
If you just love to watch the waves for hours on end, you can stop looking and pick this house! We particularly loved the comfortable living room furniture which made it perfect to watch the waves crash on the rocks, and look for turtles! Very serene.
Amazing land scape very close to ocean so I could here the crashing of the waves as soon as I woke up and the view at sun rise/set top notch can’t wait to come back soon.
The moment you pull into the garage you are greeted by Thom. Thom is a gem and provides so many interesting stories and a great list of suggestions of things to see. The main floor of the home has you surrounded by windows to look out at the amazing views. The kitchen was well stocked and the main area is very comfortable. The 4th floor deck is amazing and you get great views of the water and the turtles. There are lots of mosquitoes, so make sure you are wearing repellent. The 2nd floor has your three bedrooms. The rooms are a bit moldy/musty smelling. This really was the only negative I had with this home. I did go out and buy fabreeze, so having the fans all on and spraying Farnese did help with the smell.
We had a great family get away watching the turtles everyday from the balconies from the comfort of a very relaxing home.
Communication with property manager was easy. He was very helpful. Beautiful view from the house. My family of 5 were mainly there to sleep and eat breakfast. We were able to leave windows/doors open at night, as long as they had screens, not all windows had screens to enjoy the crashing of the waves. Another reason to leave the windows/sliding doors open with fans going was that the house can get pretty steamy due to no air conditioning. There are random people that drive up next to the house to take in the views. Nice place with beautiful views though.
It’s an amazing location with stunning views! It is a very well appointed and very well decorated and spacious home. However, there are some major shortcomings. The basic maintenance is lacking. The doors and windows do not function well. There is no air conditioning which leads to a number of issues. The windows must be open in order to maintain, a comfortable temperature. However, a number of doors and windows must be closed overnight as there is a rodent issue and a number of the screens are either torn or have holes chewed in them. The draperies, linens and carpet all smell very musty and with no air conditioning this is a real problem. There is a very neat system for spraying freshwater on the outside of the windows to keep salt spray off! However, the water is very hard and has left a hard water film on the outside of the windows obstructing a clear view. There was also a sizable leak in the roof which left a puddle of water on the floor beside the kitchen every time it rained. This property has everything needed to be absolutely stunning. It just needs some real TLC and a lot of maintenance.
4 stories! Awesome. Thom the property Manager was a wealth of information. A lot of moving parts in a property as large as this one. We didn't turn the TV on once because there was so much to do.
Everyone enjoyed the Pahoa oceanfront house. We all thought that the property was beautiful and spacious and nice.
The house is in a breathtaking location! It hangs literally over the ocean. We were there 5 mins and saw whales swimming by! You can hear the ocean waves crashing below as you go to sleep. The stars in the night sky from the top deck are incredible. Thom the caretaker was super helpful by orienting us to the property and giving us suggestions for things to do/see. The only drawback is that we saw evidence of rodents on the property. The location of the house probably makes it difficult to deal with those kinds of things? My family thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Saw whales and turtles from the deck on top
Watch whales from one of the 3 spectacular lanais! It was amazing views all day everyday. Quite neighborhood with easy drive into the adorable town of Pāhoa. Highly recommended by the whole family!
We enjoyed the top deck a lot and loved to stay there to watch the crashing waves and night stars. We did have some issues with the house but got a quick positive response from Thom and Ms. Vu. Otherwise communication and check-in or out is great!
Our family stayed at the house and enjoyed the location and natural beauty. The waves crash below you and are quite mesmerizing. Thom is also a great manager and was very helpful and responsive to our questions. We had a great time!
Manager met us at the house. Thom gave use plenty of local information. He was quick to respond to questions. The house itself is beautiful. It was amazing to be so close to the ocean.
