Property Overview
Update: The Maui county council has approved the ban on short term rentals in areas like ours, but with an effective date of 12/31/2030. Hopefully this provides some clarity if you have been following this process and were concerned about booking in the next couple of years.
This Grand Champions hotel suite/studio is just a short walk to the ocean. The studio features a large bedroom/sitting area with a comfortable brand new king size bed and a full size futon, a kitchenette, full bathroom, washer/dryer and a lanai featuring tropical garden views - with a waterfall and stream in the winter months. While it is a ground floor unit, the lanai is raised about six feet off ground level (no outside access). There are several guest parking spaces available right in front of the condominium. Floor space is approximately 500 square feet. See below for other details. This is one of the best units in the complex, quiet because it is an end unit and on also on the edge of the property, and shaded for most of the day so it is cool even in the summer.
This is the most affordable studio condominium in one of the finest resorts in the world. You get a clean place to rest or hang out by the pool and you can walk to all of the other great stuff.

The Grand Champions property features two pools with whirlpool spas, barbecue facilities and lush gardens. It is surrounded by Wailea's award winning Blue Golf Course and Tennis Club. Ranked in the top 50 best resort tennis facilities, the club boasts 11 plexi-pave courts, three lit courts for night play, a stadium court, paddle tennis and a full service pro shop. Guests will receive preferential golf rates/reservations at the Wailea and Makena courses.
Located in the heart of the Wailea Resort area, on Maui's sunny south shore, Grand Champions is just a short walk down the hill to the Shops at Wailea, and to two new shopping centers up the hill. Great places to eat in both. We are just from Ulua Beach (ranked eighth in the nation - world class snorkeling and diving too), Keawakapu, Mokapu, Ulua, Wailea Beach, and Polo Beaches, spa facilities and award winning restaurants. Grand Champions is a private enclave in the midst of Wailea that offers its guests all the wealth of this world-class resort's environment and a touch of seclusion that sets it quietly apart. The architecture is classic, the environment peaceful, the landscaping lush, and the views are exceptional - including the world's largest dormant volcano, Haleakala.
Kihei is a few minutes to the north. This is much more of a busy, touristy town. You can find lots of stores there to get groceries and other stuff; and some good, inexpensive restaurants. There is also a shopping center a few miles up the Piilani Highway, with a Safeway for food supplies..
Discover Hawaii's fascinating undersea world on a snorkel or dive trip. Explore the beautiful Hawaiian waters aboard a private yacht charter or observe nature on a whale watching tour. For those who would like to remain on land, Hawaii offers adventurous bike tours and eco-tourism hikes. Visit Ahihi-Kina'u Natural Area Reserve, Kealia Pond Wildlife Refuge, or the Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale Sanctuary. Maui is a treasure of cultural and natural sights just waiting to be explored.
This condo is Non Smoking, including the lanai area.
Check in time is 3:00; check out time is 11:00. You MUST be out of the condo by 11:00 so it can be cleaned for the next occupant unless we have agreed to a late checkout in advance. Note that we do not provide shower/bath/cleaning products as most people prefer their own brands. And we just provide a "starter supply" of toilet paper and paper towels.
There are no pets allowed in the condo complex.
This unit is a condo, not a townhome. While there are no shared interior spaces, understand that as in hotels, the condo shares a wall/ceiling with two other condos. Since this is an end unit only one wall is shared, with another condo i own next to this one. As this condo is on the ground floor there is also a condo above you. The walls of my units have blown in soundproofing material to mitigate noise issues between them. Also like a hotel, there is a (double locked) connecting door between my two units which is not sound proofed and can also be a noise source. Please be aware of the potential for noise from adjacent units and at the same time be considerate of other guests, particularly at night.
Cancellations and refunds:
There is a 25% deposit to book the condo. Another 25% is due 60 days before arrival, The balance is due one month before arrival. If the balance is not paid at that time, the reservation may be canceled.
The condo is clearly advertised as “NON-SMOKING”, including the lanai. If you are found to have violated this, you will be charged an additional $250 cleaning fee.

All charges are subject to the combined Hawaii/Maui General Excise Tax of 4.712%, the Hawaii Transient Accommodations Tax of 11% and the Maui Transient Accommodations Tax of 3%. These taxes you pay are directly passed on to the state/county.

Everything was as advertised, excellent
The place was perfect for me. It was centrally located to everything I did. The grounds are beautiful and very serene. I was sad I had to leave!
Cute bedroom and bath which are attached to another unit. It was very quiet which we appreciated and had a washer and dryer.
The Grand Champions is in a great location! We've stayed several times but in different units. It's a well maintained complex.We had no neighbors this time which made it very quiet. The room was clean and we were supplied with all the necessities . equipment.

This spot is just as described in the listing/photos. I’m always worried about the comfort of beds when I travel, as I have a finicky back. Thankfully this king sized bed is super comfortable, just the right amount of firmness with a nice memory foam topper. The location of the unit is nice, as it’s an end unit and the view off the lanai is just beautiful plants, not other units. Also enjoyed the “quiet”pool and hot tub area sans kids playing and splashing. The location within Wailea is also very convenient to shops (walkable if you can do .5 miles) and easy access to major streets to traverse the island. Host communication was clear, helpful, and prompt. I would definitely stay here again.
Wonderful condo in the fabulous Wailea area. We enjoyed our stay. Nice pools and hot tub areas and plenty to do close by.
We stay at the Grand Champion Villas every year, at a 2 bedroom unit close by. This year, for a portion of our trip we had a toatal of 9 of us. ( 3 grand children ). We needed an extra room for the 2 of us plus one grand child. It was a perfect add on to our accomadation needs. Close by and well stocked with appliances for our needs.We are leaving happy.
Everything was good and as expected except that that Wifi password was nowhere to be found in the condo. When I got there I had no connection on my phone to look it up on the vrbo app. Verizon is my carrier. Thankfully I screenshotted the door code the day before so I could atleast get in but my phone would not work. Long story short I had to drive to a friend’s condo and log in to their wifi so I could find my wifi password just so I could go back to my studio and have a working phone to communicate with my family. This was very inconvenient and I don’t know what I would’ve done had my friends not been staying nearby. So please display the wifi password visibly inside the condo!!!
We needed extra room for our family trip to Maui. We love staying at Grand Champions and this studio was perfect to rent for extra family members. It has a small kitchenette with a microwave and fridge. The property is quiet and has two beautiful pools, with the main pool practically across from this property.
We enjoyed our stay. Close to everything in Wailea. A/C worked great, the unit was clean and the bed was soft and comfortable.
Everything was amazing - looking forward to staying here again!

The Location was great , walking distance to shopping center & near by beaches & bus stop the property was nice 2 pool areas with barbecue , the studio was very accommodating . We loved listening to the birds on the lanai each morning . Mark our host was very attentive & quick to respond even when busy …we would definitely stay there again ! Aloha 🌴
Great studio! We stayed 8 nights and enjoyed every minute! Great location. We were able to walk to some beaches and to the shopping center. Great coffee shop nearby as well! Also a 10 min drive to other beautiful beaches. Will stay again when we come back!
I have stayed at different condos in this complex. Always wonderful. I was coming for a sort stay and this studio fit my needs perfectly. Lovely bathroom with washer and dryer. Small kitchen area with just enough dishes and utensils. Lovely lanai. The king sized bed was very comfortable. Property manager was easy to contact. Would stay there again.
the aerator in the bathroom needs replacing it sprays water all over. Also and I realize the owner had no control over my 4 different neighbors two in apt 10 and two in apt 9. For some reason every evening between 7and9pm the renters of these apts felt the need to MOVE FURNUTURE AND WALK RAPIDLY BACK AND FORTH FROM ONE SIDE OF THEIR APPARTMENT TO THE OTHER SIDE. NOUMEROUS TIMES THROUOUGHT THE EVENING. Other than noise the studio was ok. If I ever go back to MAUI I will probably stay in a less costly abode on South Kihei Rd. All in all it was an ok stay and now I can say I stayed in the Wailea area of the island.

This is a very large and nice studio and includes all amenities required for a dream vacation. It is designed in a Hawaiian style, with much taste and lots of space. We felt great during our ten days stay.
Loved out stay! Great location, beautiful patio, lovely swimming pool and access to grills. All you really need for a happy trip to Maui. Very nice host. The kitchen was a bit on a miniature side hence this is a studio, but the grills by the pool compensated for it! Will be happy to rent agagin in the future!
Great location and accommodations included everything needed for a great vacation. Much more convenient than a hotel with fully equipped kitchen and guest parking available close to the studio apartment. Washer and dryer made it easy to travel light. Communication from host before and during stay was excellent.
Equipment and snorkel gear are available for use, although we didn't use them. BED - was ok but wasn't a mattress, a thick piece of foam. Top Mattress kept sliding off, had to fix it daily, "mattress" frayed & sheet kept coming off. A mattress cover would be helpful. Blankets barely covered the bed, barely hung over side. TV - smallest I have seen in any Hotel/VRBO. Had an issue with the signal when we first got there, took over an hour to fix. AC - great! LANAI - spacious, & enjoyable except for the 10 bug bites, the fan was on but didn't seem to help. Been to Maui a dozen times & never received bug bites. GAMES - no games, 1 cds, and books. TP/PT - 2 rolls of TP and 1 roll of PT are not enough for a 10-day stay. ELECTRICAL - The power strip next to the bed was old, and the light/phone plugged into it kept flickering. Unplugged it due to safety hazard. I brought a plug to use for my CPAP machine. KITCHENETT - smallest I have seen, no bowls larger than a cereal bowl. No baggies or Tupperware for use. Counterspace is small, difficult to prepare food and wash dishes. BATHRROM - Good, Shower hooks missing. noise level heard with the joining door was noisy at night. No parking at times, and space 9 was only used 1 day for the other unit, would have been nice to have been able to use that since my husband is on disability, although Mark wasn't aware of that. Communication with Mark was ok but he made us feel like we were being a nuisance when we reached out to him. Rating 2/5
Condo was well-equipped other than no stove/oven and the bed was so soft i sunk over a foot (yes, we measured) when sitting on it at 185 pounds. The suggestion was to put the full size futon on top of the king size bed. If the mattress gets replaced, this is a great location. Mark even let us check out late because we had a 5pm flight.
Location of the complex was good, but the unit was disappointing. Appliances were limited, no real cooking capability. Unit was dim and finding parking was a challenge. Hardly lived up to being "top ranked". One of the large towels had blood stains on it. Gross... I took pictures as proof.
Lovely place. Would stay again. I loved the pretty flowers and the singing birds.
