Beachside Cottage surrounded by coffee trees but minutes from the beaches

Ruth and Buddy were very accommodating. The house had everything we needed away from home. And Ruth was always available if we need anything. Location was great. Not too far from town but away enough to hear all the night time critters. The frogs are very loud at night, but we enjoyed them.

This cozy cottage was perfect for our vacation!

We assumed a hospitality listing would have A/C in a warm climate. We were wrong. Warm temps were uncomfortable. There is minimal privacy for couples. The windows are covered only by screens which can be covered by shutter blinds with gaps. One window in the front room has no covering except a screen - so anyone around can always hear into the residence at all times. A second VRBO residence on the property requires its residents to walk right by that open window to get to their residence. The lack of A/C requires residents to keep the windows open for air anyway. The windows being open reduces privacy given the proximity of other VRBO residents and the homeowner. And lastly, the windows being open at night prevents residents from blocking out the extremely loud noise of the frogs that live in the trees at night. The pool is shown in the pictures as being private, yet it is behind the property owner’s house. To put it mildly, everything that I expected about this stay was deceptively advertised in the posting.

Ruth and Buddy were great hosts and we enjoyed our stay despite enduring the worst storm to hit Kona in decades.

Cottage had everything a person needed. Quiet and comfortable...Only sounds were from the wildlife and a neighbor every now and then. The pool was under repair and this was mentioned in booking.

Ruth and Buddy are great. The cottage is clean and just off a beautiful rural road that takes you through Holualoa and many coffee farms.

The host Ruth and her dog buddy were very welcoming and were the life of the property. The small little cottage was very nice and had everything a couple or 2 people would want. She had a lot of water activity supply for use. She also shared some amazing places to eat and to visit while on your trip.

Everything perfect and nice! Great place!

The driveway is situated on a hill so it can be a challenge getting in and out of the driveway. We were almost run down a couple of times. The tree frogs and night animals are very loud so if you don't like night sounds you won't want to stay here, they are very loud. The location is decent for commuting to daily activities. House looks like pictures and Ruth and Buddy (her dog) will greet you when you arrive. Could use some trash bags as there were none there, just a grocery bag. She was responsive when we had to contact her and ask questions. Was a decent place to stay with basic amenities. The bed could use replacing.

Very cute, squeaky clean cottage in back of private home. Parking in shared driveway. Away ( but not far) from the hubub of Kona. Great location for getting to Two Step and Captain Cook. Had lovely lanai/patio out back with pretty landscaping. Had accedd to beach chairs and boogie boards which we used in the waves at Hapuna. Ruth and Buddy were welcoming hosts and were available if we needed anything. Only complaints were the tiny bathroom barely big enough for 1, and both the mattress and sitting couch could use replacing. No A/C, but we didn't need it. Fans were enough. Full size fridge was great also.

Lovely property, charming vrbo, beautiful gardens and a wonderful host

We very much enjoyed our 9 night stay. Great spot to explore the entire island from. Ruth and Buddy were fantastic, everything exactly as pictured and advertised.

We took advantage of the nearby beaches and appreciated the use of the snorkeling gear and the beach equipment. We visited a few nearby coffee farms and a roaster. The house was nice and a great place to relax.

Ruth and Buddy were excellent hosts. Cottage is as advertised. Would stay there again if return to the Big Island.

Nice cottage in a quiet neighborhood.

Stayed in this wonderful cottage full of character amongst the cool forest and beautiful grounds for 12 days. Ruth, the owner made sure there was everything I needed to make my stay comfortable. Well stocked kitchen to prepare home cooked meals to eat inside or on the patio. The outdoor space is very peaceful with the sounds of local birds and singing frogs (yes you will hear them at night). Close to beaches, shops, restaurants which are a short drive away. Beach chairs, snorkel equip and boogies boards available to use. My favourite was Buddy, the dog who came by to greet me each morning...such a sweetheart!! I truly enjoyed my holiday and hope to return soon! Thank you Ruth & Buddy!

My daughter and I had a great time. Two items: 1. hot tub listed in the description, but none was available 2. didn't know about the noise from the frogs (didn't bother me) but my daughter needed to get some ear plugs. Other than that, we truly enjoyed our stay at the cottage. The host Ruth and her dog Buddy were very friendly and pleasant. Would stay there again.

We stayed at this cozy cottage for 4 nights. It is exactly as pictured. The weather was several degrees cooler than Kona, but still warm. The unit has louvered wooden blinds with screens, but no glass windows .We were surprised by the loud frog songs at night, bring earplugs!. The owner, Ruth, was delightful. We also enjoyed the fresh flower bouquet on the lanai. We'll be back.

Beautiful property, however 2 rolls of toilet paper for 2 people for 6 nights?! Mildew/mold in bathroom…. Just didn’t feel very clean anywhere.

Beautiful cottage on a gorgeous property. I stayed here for 4 days and loved this place. It’s centrally located to Holualoa, Keauhou, Captain Cook and Kailua-Kona. Ruth and Jennifer have thought of everything for their guests, all amenities are in the suite. Loved my stay, would certainly return.

We thoroughly enjoyed Ruth and Jennifer’s place. Ruth was a friendly host who thought of everything we could need to be comfortable. The place was beautifully decorated and very clean. The kitchenette had more appliances than we were expecting and we were happy to be able to make pizza in the air fryer. We couldn’t have asked for a better vrbo experience. The location was great for exploring the south end of the island. We found Two Step beach where the snorkelling was better than any snorkel excursion we’ve paid for in the past. Oh and of course Buddy, the dog, put this vacation stay over the top. We loved being greeted every day by this friendly boy!

Very comfortable, spacious cottage. We loved sitting out on the patio. Host was very friendly and helpful.

The accommodations were fitting for us. With the frogs singing to us at night made you feel like you were in the jungle. The place was clean and comfortable. The owner is super nice and provides beach equipment so when I stay here again I won't bring any of my stuff on the plane with me. Masks, snorkels (even the full face ones), fins, boogie boards, and chairs. I'm looking forward to being back. I hope the next time I visit the dates will be available.
