Fantastic property and great host!
We enjoyed our week long stay at King Hale. The property has beautiful views and plenty of room for our group of 9 to spread out. We enjoyed lounging on the outdoor patio overlooking the ocean and reading books. Every morning, we would wakeup to the sunrise and open the accordion doors to get the breeze going thru the living areas (only the bedrooms have AC). The location allowed us access to all of the beauty Kauai has to offer. It is about 45-60 mins from the airport and you can see many of the best places to shop and eat on the ride. Hanalei is a short drive and has a ton of options for food and shopping. Our on island host was very responsive when we had a maintenance item to be addressed. I should add to this review that if you are traveling with children, using the basement bedroom may not be the best option. I read that it had a separate entrance, but I did not realize that meant it could not be accessed at all from the main part of the house. My kids are in their teens, but it still made me nervous that they would have to go outside, up the stairs and through the front door to find me in an emergency. The pull out couch in the basement (one of the sleeping options) could also use a refresh. Lastly, we were very cautious with our noise level (as we always are), since there was a host note left in one of the master bedrooms saying the "neighbor is very sensitive to noise". This may not be the best house for your stay, if your group is on the louder side.

A Beautiful house with exceptional views from every room. An unforgettable week for 4 couples celebrating a 60th birthday. We cancelled restaurant reservations because the view from our dining room table could not be beat and the kitchen was equipped with everything you need to cook an amazing meal. We enjoyed both sunrise and sunset from our lanai. The tidepools in the backyard were entertaining to watch fish, crabs, sea life and birds.. We even saw a monk seal within a short walk. A quick drive to Tunnels (you can walk) or Haena Beach provided amazing locations for unbelievable snorkeling and beach fun. We loved every moment of our stay at King Hale.

Your home was beautiful and perfectly placed. I can't thank you enough for allowing us the privilege of staying there. The home itself was stunning. We did express some concerns to the property manager and while he immediately got back with us, he failed to remedy any issues brought to his attention. Lack of window coverings in the 3rd upstairs bedroom, blinds that would not allow us to open and close them/lower or raise without such a struggle that we were afraid to break them. T.V. that was not opperable in 3rd bedroom upstairs, T.V. in main living quarters had a blue line through the center, doors that would not close or could notbe locked, plantain shudders in 1 master bath that were held together with zip ties and could not be opened, shower head in master bath had a makeshift showerhead holder that made it a constant challenge to get directional accuracy for 6'4" adult and 5'6" adult. (water shot straight out at one height adjustment or the other) Difficulty getting range to light due to igniter needing to be changed for burners, lawn chairs rusted out and daughter with back injury had issue after sitting on one that collapsed. Providing you this list is more for your records so that the issues can be addressed. This home is exquisite and desires the needed attention to keep it in top condition. Knowing that many of these are related to climate, I hope that issues will be addressed so that the home itself gets the attention that it deserves. Mahalo
First, the house is spectacular. Views are amazing. Huge kitchen. Plenty of room for 4 adults to lounge about and not feel crowded. Quiet neighborhood. We saw 2 monk seals within walking distance while here! All other reviews mentioned the blinds. They still don’t work. The grill is WAY past its prime, and we didn’t think it was usable. The driveway gate looks like it hasn’t been closed in years, and the electric boxes at the gate were rotted out, so don’t count on that as extra security. All that being said, we’d stay here again in a heartbeat!! So beautiful!!
Our family of five stayed for Spring Break at King Hale. It was exceptional. It is the perfect serene location where we barely saw anyone else but had constant ocean views. There were flowers everywhere. We could hear the waves while we were sleeping. The kitchen was one of the best equipped of any VRBO we have used. There were also many supplies left (sunscreen, salt, pepper, olive oil, etc) from other vacationers that made our stay easier. We didn't use the lower floor bedroom because it was a separate entrance but we did use the gym, which was a nice addition. We would definitely stay here again!

We loved staying at our vacation rental in Ha’ena. The house was on the beach and had a deck perfect for enjoying our morning coffee all the way through star gazing at night. We could walk down the beach to Tunnels or take a quick drive into Hanalei Bay. The property met all of our needs and the property manager was super helpful and responsive. My only suggestion would be to update the ground floor space. We did not use this area aside from the gym, but a larger family may have been disappointed with the quality of the ground floor space as compared to how cool the main living area is. Five stars - totally recommend this place!!

Our third time renting this home. Its views are impeccable. Love that one can open the gigantic sliding doors and let the ocean air flow through. The main bedroom is out of a movie with views on 3 sides,the ocean on two sides and the ridge line of the Napali coast in the other. We cook all our meals and the kitchen has everything you need, albeit the BBQ could use an update.Also to note, which I didn’t realize til the last day there..the back bathroom has a steam shower👍First or hundredth time it’s one of the best homes available in the North end of Kauai.
3 generations plus one wedding engagement had a memorable time. It was great being right in front of the ocean. House had great accommodations for six ( main house) Ok accommodation for 3 (lower level) and couch bed for #10 which is fine for a younger person. View and large living/ dining was worth it.

We stayed in the King Hale for a magical week. I only swish it was longer.The house is exactly what I wanted. It was large enough that all of our party had privacy, and a separate bathroom. There was ample common space to spread out and enjoy the stunning views. The house is very well maintained and provided with everything you would need . The kitchen is Enormous and stocked with good quality pots, dishes etc. Beach chairs, cooler, umbrellla and snorkeling gear iare also provided, This place was absolute paradise.

Our family of 8 adults and 1 child had a phenomenal time at the King Hale rental property. If you're looking for a remote location, this is it. The view was incredible in both the front and back of the property and the "end of the road" nature of being so far up the north shore really gave this a secluded charm. I'd recommend it even more than being "in town" like Hanalei as long as you adequately stock up on food and drink for your stay. For that, there's a Costco and Target in Lihue that you can stop at with your rental car before the hour-long drive to Wainiha. The house was clean, the property management was courteous, and the check-in and check-out was a breeze. The one small issue, that I'm sure the managers will correct shortly, was that one of the guest bedrooms was missing two sets of blinds and lacked privacy as the lanai went right outside of the bedroom. We remedied this by hanging up blankets. As far as the beach, there are great options just a 2 minute walk up the shore in either direction. Right in front of the property is a tide-pool and pretty snorkeling reef where we saw various sea life like parrotfish, sea cucumbers, rays, and even an eel. I don't often write reviews, but we left this place KNOWING that we booked the right house.

We’ve stayed at places in Kauai before but nothing as amazing as this house. Our family spent 5 days here in March, and were blown away by the amazing views from all rooms, the wide open living areas, and of course, Kauai overall. No real negatives - 3 bedrooms upstairs, 1 downstairs. Great kitchen, well stocked with necessary dishes and appliances for cooking. Stores nearby (10 minute drive) for any food you would need. Overall a wonderful experience - would stay again hands down on this amazing part of the island and in this particular rental!!

We loved King Hale...the house, the property and the location! The main house is wonderful, each of the three bedrooms have amazing views. The bathrooms with their tubs, steam shower and views, are sweet too. The great room that is the kitchen, living room and dining area is so big & open and the huge doors that open along the back and front are incredible - they allow for views of the mountains and ocean and air to flow through the house too! The windows, screens and doors were in pristine condition which is a total benefit - we were able to have the windows and/or doors open all the time to hear the ocean waves! The balcony is AWESOME!! Front and back! The kitchen is fully stocked with items for cooking and eating in. We LOVED being here. The only downside we found is that the gym and the fourth bedroom are not accessible via the inside of the main house (you have to go outside of the main house and enter each separately) and although the 4th bedroom has its own small living space to include a kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, and living area, it is very disappointing compared to the upper main house living space and especially bedrooms. The guests in your group/family that stay in there, do have a lower view of the ocean from the living space, but the bedroom is in the back with no view and is unfortunate. The gym is an added bonus and a nice space to workout in, again though it is only accessible from the outside. The relief map of Kauai hanging in the gym is a really nice & fun added touch, and one that we love - as we have that very same one in our home! King Hale is an amazing place, and we would be lucky to stay here again!! Oh, one more thing -- the stars at night!!! Wow!! Incredible!

We couldn't have been happier staying at King Hale. It was perfect for our family of 7. The 3 upstairs bedrooms all had stunning oceanfront views and everyone had their own bathroom. The teenagers loved staying in the downstairs guest house with kitchenette. The kitchen was great and had everything we needed to prepare gourmet meals. We enjoyed stunning sunsets AND sunrises every day. We walked to Tunnels many days for awesome snorkeling (try the middle of the bay) and even though the beach out front is a bit rocky, you can walk a short distance to the right or left to get to lovely beaches for swimming/snorkeling. There is a restaurant at Hanalei Colony Resort (a 5 minute walk) that has great poke and a coffee place. The only trouble we had was a leaky AC unit in the second master but it was cool enough for sleeping without. Hanalei Bay is a 10-15 minute drive. This iconic town offers surfing, restaurants and shopping. The adults ate at Bar Acuda one evening and it was the best meal we've had in a long time. The property host, Kevin, was fantastic—very responsive and helpful. We forgot a suitcase at the property and he graciously retrieved it and helped us get it back promptly. Our family is already planning our next trip to King Hale.

Beautiful house and location our family loves. The beach right in front of us is a shallow reef, and we saw monk seal resting and turtle feeding right up the shore.The house is large enough for our family (8 adults and 2 kids). Loved the spacious Kitchen and living room. Would've liked to have a larger dining table, and the BBQ was a bit old and small for the house. They are doing renovation and couldn't accommodate some of the promised amenities, but Kevin was great at keeping us happy. We are sure to come back soon.

This is a beautiful home with incredible views from all sides of the house. We had our own beach right at our back door. The layout of the house is perfect. The home came with all the appliances you would possibly need. My only complaint is that one room has a pullout bed and I think it should be a full size bed. Some of the blinds were broken. However, it is understandable that replacement parts may take time. There was also a power outage for 20 hours, which we heard was a common occurrence. I think a large, beautiful house like this should have a backup generator. Some of the outdoor furniture also should be replaced. With all this being said, we enjoyed the house and would stay there again.

Overall, we had a very good experience. The house was clean and well equipped; the location was perfect; and we look forward to returning. There are a few things that we suggest can be improved:1. Most of the glassware should be replaced.2. The locks on the sliding doors were hard to operate, and one screen slider needs repair.3. The house alarm system was not operating.4. The entry gate was not functional.These were minor issues that did not interfere with our stay. Again, overall it was great.
